I have a long standing fascination with commemorative quilts. Whenever I come across a wedding or anniversary quilt in my research, I am struck by their poetic beauty, and think of the wonderful memories they must bring into the home of the family receiving the quilt.
When a New York City native and mother to a beautiful one year old commissioned me to make a quilt commemorating her daughter’s first year, I jumped at the opportunity. I was even more thrilled to discover she had carefully saved the precious clothes her daughter wore when she was an infant. We collaborated to design a quilt made from these baby clothes, with a timeless feel the family can cherish for years.
I’m so happy to have this commemorative quilt in my oeuvre, and I certainly hope to make more!
