liber nox

You know, I don't think I've expressed my discontent with "Liber Nox" enough quite yet.

It sucks. I’m very sad that I spent money on it. Though it probably helps at an introductory level, I couldn’t help but feel like I was reading a Wiccan manual that involved the stang. The lore in the book was quite aggravating as well, as it continuously attempted to explain why the holidays were celebrated this way or that, but couldn’t seem to keep its focus.

The mythos around which the nine rituals of the year are based is basically the Wiccan birth, mating, death, and rebirth story rehashed. The rituals are so heavily based in this that it’s quite hard to actually do anything with them if you’re not going for religious context. The book also continuously refers to witchcraft as the “Elder Faith.” Kinda sounds like the “Old Religion” of Wicca. Kinda looks like it too. If it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck I suppose.

I wasn’t pleased. I’m keeping it, just for the sake of consultation if ever I should decide that I need ideas that badly, but I have a few other sources I can use before that.

Welp, I guess that’s all I have to say. Nice and openly. Because I don’t need to anonymously complain about a book I don’t like. Because I’m a big boy, and if the other children can’t handle that and need to go on anon to accuse me of “whining” anonymously about a book, then go on Amazon to look at my review and tell me it’s shit, methinks they need to cry just a little bit harder. Working on this spell you see, and I need the tears of the whiners to properly cast it.
