161: You can’t swim and you’re scared of water.

Harry: The pool party was in full swing and Harry had been keeping a close eye on you, knowing one of your deepest, and for you, most embarrassing secrets, something only he knew. After your parents’s tragic death by drowning when you were only a child, you had never set a foot into water ever since. Once he observed that you were in deep conversation with Louis and Liam, a satisfied Harry disappeared to grab a beer and catch up with his other pals. “Gonna have a dip, y/n?” Louis asks with a cheeky grin. You shake your head. “Uh, no, I haven’t brought a bikini with me” you reasonably excuse yourself from any water activities, shaking your head with a nervous smile. Louis and Liam smirk at each other and their next actions were completely unpredictable to you as they both picked you up, Louis holding you under your arms and Liam holding your ankles. “No no no no!” you exclaim in panic as they start swinging you. “It’s just a little water y/n, on three, Liam” Louis jokes. “NO!” Despite your desperate screams being loud enough to attract the attention of all the guests, heads quickly turning at your distress, the boys continued to swing you. On approaching the number two, they’re quickly distracted. “Put her down!” Harry yells, running towards the three of you. Louis and Liam quickly put you down beside the pool and you quickly bring your knees up to your chest, sobbing into them. “It was just a bit of fun, mate” Louis murmurs, although he knows he’s angered his best friend and upset you, and both guilt and remorse are evident in his voice. “Her parents fucking drowned!” Harry shouts at the boys before lowering to the ground and pulling you into him. “Shh darling, it’s ok. You’re ok. I’m here” he whispers into your ear.

Liam: A holiday with Liam’s family was the perfect getaway since you all got on really well, and Liam certainly needed the break from the solo music he was producing. Lowering the umbrella to shade him more, you left him sleeping on the sand. Nicola and Ruth both ushered for you to join them in the sea. It was so blue and beautiful and whilst your fear of water was strong, you knew you would be safe with a little paddle. The hot sand between your toes felt out of this world and the sea lapping up onto your ankles was relaxing. Moving in a little further up to your knees, you were comfortable staying put and observing the world around you. As you went in deeper, you began to panic. Liam wasn’t there to guide you or reassure you. Turning around, you see him still sleeping on the sand. You take a step to head back to safety when you lose your balance. A wave comes crashing around you, dragging you under and further out to sea. Everything else becomes a blur as you splash around, gasping for air and choking on the salty water that you’re submerged in. Sounds of distress and screams from all directions begin to fade as your body lacks oxygen and water fills your lungs. You feel a hand around your waist, pulling you against the current. Before you can comprehend what’s happening, your laying on the sand, various faces staring in disbelief a blur, and only Liam’s is in focus. You hear the publics questions darting from every direction before Liam pipes up. “Give her some space!” He quickly averts his attention back to you, resting his hand on your forehead and stroking it softly. “You’re ok darling” he whispers. “We’re gonna get you checked out though” he adds, before lowering his lips to your cheek.

Louis: “That’s it baby girl, you’re doing fantastic!” he praises you, and whilst you feel a little silly and childish, you appreciated that he was teaching you how to swim. “Now let’s go in a little deeper” he suggests. You shake your head. “No Louis, I don’t think I can, I’ll drown” you panic, desperately holding your float. Taking your hand gently, he softly murmurs “I’m right here. I’m not going to let you drown. I love you too much.” He smiles and you reciprocate the actions, before kicking your legs and going deeper into the swimming pool. “I’m doing it Louis, I’m doing it!” you proudly announce. “You are sweetheart, I’m so proud of you.” You both tread water in the deep end with your hands still firmly clasping the float. “You never told me where your fear of water came from and how you never learned to swim?” Louis questions curiously. You shrug your shoulders. “I fell into a swimming pool when I was little. I got into trouble and panicked. It scarred me for life. After that, my mum didn’t want to scare me even more and send me to swimming lessons. I guess back then she was just considering my feelings, but in hindsight, she should have done the opposite.” You never blamed your mum, but you weren’t blind to the fact that she was the reason you had never learned to swim. Louis nods understandably. “Well at least you’re leaning now, darling. And in the future, when we have our own little ones, we can teach them how to swim” he smiles.

Niall: Sitting in the large rubber dingy and bobbing up and down in the sea certainly wasn’t your idea of fun, but as time continued, you were distracted by the conversations you were having with Niall, Louis and Eleanor. Despite your unknown fear of the water and being unable to swim, you had forgotten that you were miles away from the shore. The waves began to get bigger and the sun was disappearing. “Guys, we need to go back” you murmur. “It’s ok y/n, the sea doesn’t get much choppier than this” Louis chirps. You shake your head. “No, you don’t understand. I need to go. I can’t be out here anymore” you begin to panic. “Princess?” Niall questions, wrapping an arm around your waist. “It’s ok” he reassures you, as the dingy begins rocking more vigorously. Your breathing becomes more erratic and you begin to flap. “Please, I need to get out. We need to get back to the shore.” Eleanor grips your shoulders gently. “Y/N it’s ok, like Louis said, it won’t get any worse than this. Just breathe.” You shake your head. “You don’t understand. Any of you! I can’t swim. If we overturn, I’ll drown” you cry out. Sensing your distress, Niall pulls yours body into him. “Sweetheart, why didn’t you say? We’re not gonna topple over, ok? And I’ve got you, you’re ok. I’m not going to let anything happen to you. Now please calm down and breathe for me” he whispers into your ear. “We’ll get back to the beach, Ni” Louis murmurs, understanding your distress. He murmurs a quick thank you to his friend before making a mental note to teach you how to swim the next day.

Zayn: The poolside was getting busier, your anxiety increasing even more. You watched Zayn and the rest of the boys enjoying a swim and the occasional water activity. Whilst you felt pretty good in your bikini, you had no intention of setting foot into the swimming pool. “Y/N! Come join us!” Niall calls out. You shake your head and give the boys a small smile. “She’s alright boys” Zayn smiles, understanding your reason for staying firmly on the ground. The boys quickly go back to their games and you continue to mingle with others by the poolside. A group of lads, who clearly drank more than they could handle, barge straight past you and between the conversation you were having. As one of them passed, he lost his balance, grabbing you for support, consequently pushing you in. Whilst you heard a few cheers and “whey’s,” Zayn’s exclamation didn’t go unnoticed by anyone. “Fuck!” he yelled out, swimming the length of the pool. He reached you within seconds of you splashing around and gasping for air. Grabbing you by the waist, he pulled you to the side. “Take her!” he exclaimed to onlookers by the poolside. They did as they were told, pulling you out of the water and sitting you upright on the floor. Zayn was beside you in seconds, rubbing your back and whispering reassurances to you. “Zayn, chill mate, yeah? It’s a bit of water” Liam pipes up from across the pool. “Are you fucking kidding me Liam? She can’t swim! She could’ve fucking drowned!” he yells out. As soon as he shouted at Liam, he felt guilty, it hadn’t even been his fault, but adrenaline was pumping through his body. Wrapping a protective arm around you, he murmured softly, “let’s get you home.”

Lip didn’t have many strictly platonic friendships with other girls. In fact, he never considered he was capable of having a relationship with a female that didn’t involve them screwing into oblivion. But Y/N Y/L/N was different. For one thing, they’ve known each other since they were two years old, when Fiona and Hailey, Y/N’s older sister, arranged a play date for the two of them. They bonded over a love of Legos and had been friends ever since. He helped her with homework and she helped him get out of trouble when trying to persuade him from getting into it failed. He taught her how to smoke and she taught him how to play the piano. They were perfect for each other but neither of them would admit it.

“Come on, Lip, you’re telling me that you’ve never thought of asking Y/N out?” Ian asked.

They were smoking on their porch in the hot Chicago summer. Ian had the day off from work and Lip was still thinking up his latest scheme to make money fast.

“Y/N’s like a sister to me, you know. You don’t f—k your sister,” Lip said. “We aren’t royalty or anything.”

Ian laughed. “Well, I’m pretty sure Y/N’s thought of f—cking you, you can see it in her eyes.”

“Shut up.” Lip smacked Ian in the chest, making the ginger laugh.

“Oh, that hurt so bad. Can’t you hit harder, pussy?”

And that led to them wrestling jokingly, making Debbie roll her eyes inside and Carl begin cheering them on. Once they stopped (ie: when Ian pinned Lip down in their front yard), Lip sighed.

“For the record, I let you win.”

“Yeah, whatever.” Ian’s smile disappeared and he looked serious. “So, you’d really never consider getting with Y/N?”

Lip rolled his eyes and shoved Ian off of him. “If you’re so into her, why don’t you date her?”
  “Because I’m gay.”

“Oh yeah, use that excuse.” Lip took another long drag of his cigarette as he stood. “Look, Y/N’s a cool girl and stuff but I can’t see us being serious. I mean, we used to take baths together and I had the pleasure of being the only person with her when she first got her period. There’s too much history.”

As the words left his mouth, Lip knew he was lying to himself. He knew that he was madly in love with his best friend who somehow managed to be sweet but scrappy when it came to defending herself or any of the Gallaghers. Plus, there was the way she threw her head back when she laughed really hard, making her gorgeous y/h/c locks flow around her. Then, there was the way she’d scrunch up her nose whenever she was confused about a homework question. Plus, she was the one who first confronted him about Karen, telling him that he shouldn’t take her kind of bullsh-t anymore. Also, her y/e/c eyes would light up whenever she was staring out at Lake Michigan and she would jump whenever someone/something freaked her out.

Ian glanced behind Lip. “Too much history, huh?”

   “Yep.”

“Then you wouldn’t be too upset at the view behind you right now.”

Lip turned around and what he saw nearly made him drop his cigarette. Across the street, standing on the corner, was none other than Y/N smiling widely as she kissed Will Brooks.

“What’s she doing with him?” Lip asked.

“Well, Lip, it appears as though they’re making out. It probably has to do with the fact that she’s had a crush on him since second semester,” Ian said.

“How the f–k do you know all that?”

“Because I’m the gay friend she tells all this to,” Ian said. “And I can’t blame her. Will is the star of the basketball team, has muscles for days, and is the literal definition of tall, dark, and handsome.”

“He’s an idiot. He thought that a square should count as a rhombus in geometry,” Lip muttered.

   “Someone sounds jealous,” Ian sang.

   “Shut up,” he hissed.

But the green monster was making his blood boil as he watched Y/N laugh at something Will said before hitting his arm playfully. Her smile was beautiful and genuine, if only she was smiling that way for Lip. She kissed Will one last time before circling around him and heading down the street. However, Will didn’t let her get by before swatting her butt and making her jump. Lip could’ve strangled him right then and there.

“Lip, Ian, you are not going to believe what just happened!” Y/N said when she got up to them.

“You got syphilis from that idiot?” Lip asked.

Y/N frowned. “No, but Will did just take me out.”

“Where?” Ian smiled widely and crossed his arms just to spite Lip.

“He took me to lunch and then we walked along Navy Pier, just talking. Your advice worked, Ian!” Y/N squealed as she hugged him.

“Wait, you gave her advice on this?” Lip asked.

“It’s what the gay best friend does,” Ian said.

Y/N turned to Lip and frowned. “Why are you getting so upset about this?”

“Because you didn’t tell me about it.”

“I didn’t think you’d care if I went out with Will. It’s nothing serious.”

“But it might be. The Bulls are looking at Will to draft him. I hear he’s going to be Chicago’s Kobe Bryant.”

“This is the Bulls were talking about, Ian,” Lip said. “Besides, Will get a new girl every week, you should probably just forget about him.”

“For your information, Mr. Negative, we’re actually going out again tomorrow night. He got us Bulls tickets!”
   “Nosebleeds?” Lip asked.

“Nope, near the floor, center court!” Y/N grinned. “I can’t believe this is happening. I never thought that Will would ever notice me.”

“How could he not? You’re gorgeous,” Ian said.

“Just be careful, okay. I don’t like the guy.”

“You don’t like many guys, Lip. Besides, you should be happy for me. Who knows? Maybe one day I’ll get you court-side seats to see the Bulls.”

“No thanks, I’m good.” Lip threw his cigarette down and snuffed it out with his boot. “I’m gonna go take care of some business.”

“What business?” Y/N asked as she began following him down the sidewalk.

“My usual business with Kev,” Lip said.

Y/N’s eyes widened. “Lip, you can’t do that. You’re already high up on the cop’s radar, right behind Carl.”

“I’ve been doing this since we were fourteen, Y/N, I know what I’m doing.”

“But you getting arrested could f—k up your chances with MIT or U of Chicago or any other fancy school,” Y/N argued.

“Hey, why don’t you worry about what dress you’re gonna wear to see Will again and I’ll worry about my future, alright?” Lip snapped.

Y/N flinched at his words. They had had arguments before, but he never got this mean with her. “What’s your problem, Lip? Are you on the rag?”

   “No, just leave me alone.”

“Fine, come around the block when you decide to stop being such a jackass,” Y/N said.

Though her words were sharp, she sounded hurt and it hurt Lip that he had hurt his best friend. As much as he wanted to admit why he was really angry with Y/N, he was too prideful and scared of her reaction to say anything.

For two weeks, Y/N didn’t come by to see the Gallaghers nor did Lip try to go up around the block to see her. Fiona, Ian, Debbie, Carl, Kev, and V did their best not to mention her name whenever Lip was around. But ever since their fight, Lip had begun drinking and smoking more. He was miserable. However, everything came to a head when Fiona confronted him one day.

“Alright, Lip, go talk to her,” Fiona said.

   “What?”

Lip was sitting in the kitchen, drinking coffee while Fiona and Debbie were making breakfast.

“You heard her, we’re sick of seeing you moping around all the time and drunk you is only so entertaining,” Debbie said.

“I don’t want to talk to her. Besides, the only person she’s interested in talking to is Will.” Lip spat out the boy’s name.

“That’s not true,” Ian said as he walked into the kitchen with Liam in his arms, “she talks to me all the time.”

“If I want to talk to her, I’ll talk to her, alright? Can we stop f—king talking about her?” Lip snapped.

Fiona set a plate of eggs and bacon in front of Lip and bent down to his level. “Lip, I know you’ve been in love with Y/N pretty much since the day you met and it must be killing you that you fought and that she’s with Will—”

“Will Brooks? He’s a babe,” Debbie said.

Fiona, Ian, and Lip collectively shot her a look that made her instantly regret her words.

   “Sorry.”

Fiona sighed. “But you need to man up and talk to her. I know this is gonna be hard comin’ from me but I know love when I see it.”

Lip groaned. “She’s not gonna forgive me.”

“She will, we’ve all had to,” Ian said.

Lip playfully shoved him before taking a long swig of coffee. “I’ll be right back.”

“That’s my boy,” V said as she entered the kitchen from the rear entrance.

“Did you hear all of that?” Ian asked.

“For the most part. Please go talk to that girl, I’m sick of seeing you look more pissed off than usual.”

Lip laughed. “I will, see ya, V.”

As he left the house, Lip began going over everything he could possibly say to make everything up to Y/N.

“Hey, Y/N, I’m sorry for being a dick and getting pissed about you and Will. I’m sure the NBA accepts idiots too—no, can’t say that, she’ll get pissed that I insulted him. Y/N, I’m sorry for being a dick and I’m really happy for you and Will. Maybe the Bulls will start winning if he joins. Yeah, that’s better.” Lip paused. “Y/N, you probably hate me, but we have to talk…”

“I thought that only crazy people talked to themselves,” Mandy said as she strolled up to Lip.

   “Oh, hey, Mandy,” he said.

She was wearing a tight black tank top and short denim cut offs. They had a short-lived fling but decided that they were better off as friends. Besides Ian and Lip, Mandy was Y/N’s closest friend.

“I’m guessing that you’re off to talk to Y/N,” Mandy said.

“Yeah, I said some real sh-tty stuff to her and she didn’t deserve it.”

“She never does,” Mandy said. “It’s just too bad about her and Will.”

   Lip frowned. “What happened?”

“You didn’t hear? She found out that he’s been cheating on her ever since they got together. I offered to have my brothers beat him up for her, but she said it wasn’t worth it. I haven’t seen her around in a long time.”

   “Sh-t.”

“Yeah, so whatever you have to say to her, don’t f-ck up.”

   “Thanks, Mandy.”

As Lip walked away from Mandy, he was both elated and furious. He could beat Will’s face in for what he did to Y/N but at the same time, he was ecstatic that she was single again. Now he really had to perfect what he was gonna say.

“Y/N, I’m sorry about what happened between us. You didn’t deserve it and I was just being a dick. I’m also sorry about what happened between you and Will. He deserves to get the sh-t beat out of him.” Lip sighed. “And…and I got so mad about the whole Will thing because, you’re like a sister to me and I didn’t want to lose my sister or my friend…the friend I’ve been in love with since we were two.”

At this point, Lip was standing in front of the Y/L/N’s house. Mr. Y/L/N was most likely back at work in the loan office and Mrs. Y/L/N was off being a maid in the W Hotel. Whether or not Hailey was home was a bit of a toss up since she would skip class more than Lip did. The navy, two-story house seemed a lot bigger than it usually did and part of Lip wanted to turn around and run away.

“Don’t be a pussy,” he muttered.

He walked up the front steps and knocked on the door.

Seconds later, a dog was barking and Hailey was yelling at it.

“Geez!” she blew a piece of dark hair out of her eyes and narrowed them once she saw Lip. “Lip.”

   “Hi, Hailey.”

The barking Rottweiler stopped when he saw Lip and began licking all over his face.

“Hi, Buster,” Lip said as he scratched the dog. “I’ve missed you.”

“Well, he’s missed you too, I don’t know if I can say the same for Y/N,” Hailey said.

Lip sighed as he straightened up. “Look, I know I f-cked up majorly with Y/N and I’m sorry. I just want to apologize and if she doesn’t want to be friends with me anymore, that’s fine, I’ll understand. Is she okay?”

Hailey’s e/c eyes softened slightly at Lip’s words but she kept a tense body language. “She’d be better off if that idiot hadn’t cheated on her weeks after she lost her best friend. But she’ll get through it, she’s tough.”

   “I know, is she here?”

Hailey pursed her lips. “That Will guy might’ve hurt her but you really broke her heart, you know that, Gallagher?”

   “Yeah…”

“I could kill you for how much you made her cry and then Will on top of that—” Hailey breathed.

“And I’ll do my best to never make her cry again. Believe me, the last thing I want is to hurt her.”

Lip hoped his sincerity showed through since Hailey was one of the most stubborn people when it came to protecting her family and doing what she thought was right.

“She went to the Symphony. They let her listen to the music from the entry way as long as she doesn’t disturb anyone.”

“Thanks, Hailey, I really appreciate it.”

The L couldn’t have operated any slower that day, which made Lip even more anxious. He began chain smoking, hoping it would help him think more, but it didn’t. It calmed him down a little, but he still had no idea what he was going to say to her. Fortunately, downtown wasn’t very crowded and it was easy for him to find his way to the Symphony. Sure enough, Y/N was sitting near one of the door, cross-legged, listening intently to the passionate music. She looked gorgeous though she was wearing a simple white summer dress that went off the shoulders. Her hair was twisted up into a pretty bun on top of her head and her back was facing Lip.

He carefully walked up to her, his mind racing with words.

   “Mind if I join you?”
Y/N gestured for him to sit without turning away from the door. Her eyes were puffy and he could tell that she had been crying.

“Y/N, I need to talk to you.”

    “Sh, it’s Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9,” Y/N hissed.

“Oh, right, sorry.” Lip managed to say quiet for five more seconds before saying, “no, you know what, f-ck the music, you can get this sh–t on YouTube or iTunes. We need to talk.”

“Keep your voice down or we’ll get kicked out,” Y/N said quietly.

“Fine, but at least look at me when I talk?”
Y/N hesitated before turning to Lip. “Talk.”

Lip paused. Everything he had rehearsed seem to leave his mind. “You’re beautiful.”

Y/N rolled her eyes. “Go away, Lip.”

“No, I’m serious. Even though that a—hole made you cry and did all that to you, you’re the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen. Always have been.”

There was a long pause between them but Y/N looked stunned.

“Is that all you have to say to me?”

“No, I’m sorry about what happened between us. I shouldn’t have gotten so pissed off about you and that jerk.”

“You were a real jackass,” Y/N muttered.

“I know, and you didn’t deserve that. And I’m sorry about what happened—-no, you know what, f-ck that, I’m not sorry. He didn’t deserve to be with you because you are amazing and sweet and talented and tough and strong. He doesn’t deserve to breathe the same air as you and neither do I.”

Y/N looked stunned but suddenly looked dejected. “If I’m all those things, why did he cheat on me with Ashley Opperman, Jane Henkins, Mariah Little, Penny Gilbert, Vanessa Langley, and Iman Ashton?”

“Because he’s an idiot who’s probably trying to get the clap if he got anywhere near Vanessa Langley,” Lip said.

Y/N smiled. “I think she’s had ever STD under the sun besides AIDs.”

Lip smiled. “I’m so sorry about everything that happened between us, Y/N. Is there any way you could forgive me?”
Y/N jokingly tapped her finger against her chin. “If you teach me how make things explode using that fancy technical vocabulary, maybe.”

   “Of course.”

“And you help me pass my ACT.”

   “Okay.”

“And you come to my piano concerts.”

   “I already do.”

   “Sober, though.”

“Then you’ll have to play something less boring.”

   “Deal.”

They jokingly shook hands before Y/N wrapped her arms around Lip and basically fell into his lap. He immediately pulled her close, inhaling her sweet scent.

    “I’ve missed this,” she whispered.

    “I love you.”

They both froze. Lip couldn’t have said that any less smoothly if he tried. He couldn’t believe that he had blurted it out like that.

Y/N pulled away slowly and looked at him with wide eyes. “Lip?”

“I’ve loved you since we first met and I fell in love with you around the same time, I think. It drove me crazy seeing you with Will and I’m sorry I was so mean to you. If you don’t feel the same way then—”

Lip was cut off as Y/N pressed her lips against his. He immediately pulled her closer as he kissed back. All those emotions they had for the past sixteen years came out in that exchange. They were so caught up they not only forgot where they were but also that they would need to pull away for air.

“Eh hem.” An elderly security guard looked at them with distaste.

    “What’s your problem?” Lip asked.

“Sorry, Ivan, we’ll be leaving now.”

“No, that’s fine, Y/N, just try to ease up on all of that.” Ivan gestured to their current position.

   “You got it, Ivan.”

He wandered away and Lip pulled Y/N into him again.

“So, I’m guessing you like me too?”

“No, I love you, I thought as smart as you are, you would’ve caught onto that when we were at least four,” Y/N teased.

“Well, I’m smart enough to never let you go again.”

   “Good.”

And that was how after many years, Lip Gallagher ended up with the girl from around the block.

What is louis' favorite way to be hugged

from behind when he’s brushing his teeth in the morning and harry’s body is warm and solid against his back, and it’s hardly considered a hug since harry’s not really trying but it’s nice. from the front, when niall crashes into him and they’re dumbasses because it ends with them knocking each other down more often than not but!!! it’s a good hug. or a one arm hug is nice, even if liam gets sweaty but being tucked under liam’s arm is :’) warm. i just think louis really likes cuddles no matter how they’re given to him.

Popping the Question

Just a quick one off of Liam helping his best bro, Jaal, prepare to pop the big question.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

“Nervous?” Liam grinned at the fidgeting angara who was sitting on the other end of the couch fussing with his rofjin.

Jaal drew in a deep breath, stilled his hands, and exhaled slowly. “I admit,” he confessed, “I am feeling a bit apprehensive.”

“Well, you shouldn’t be.” Liam leaned over from where he sat and punched the other man lightly on the arm. “We’ve gone over this scenario a hundred times. You’re going to be fine. It’ll all work out, you’ll see. You love her, don’t you?”

“Of, of course I do,” Jaal stuttered, looking slightly offended that Liam would even have to ask him such a question. “Have I not made it clear that my very heart beats for her? That I want nothing more than to remain by her side for the rest of my days?”

“Perfectly clear,” Liam chuckled. “And believe me, the feeling is mutual. Ryder lights up like a Christmas tree every time you walk into the room.”

Jaal looked confused, his mouth turning down at the corners. “Christmas…tree?”

“Never mind,” Liam waved off the question. “I’ll explain it to you later. The point is, you have nothing to worry about. She’s as smitten with you as you are with her. With things beginning to settle down with the Kett and the new colonies up and running, it’s time to look toward the future, you know? Make a home. Make a life…preferably one that doesn’t involve being shot at and traipsing around inside of Remnant vaults.”

Jaal nodded, “I suppose…I suppose you are right. I just…I want this moment to be as perfect as she is.”

“And it will be,” the human man assured. “Everything has been arranged just like you wanted it. I saw to it myself.”

Jaal let out a relieved sigh. “You…are a good friend.”

“I try my best. Which reminds me…” Liam leaned over the arm of the couch and dug around inside of a bag, pulling out a small, black box. “Here,” he pressed it into the other man’s hands. “I went ahead and picked this up for you…well…technically for Ryder.”

Jaal’s face lit up. Excited, he cracked open the box. His large, blue eyes drank in the sight of the small jeweled band nestled within. With slightly trembling fingers, he plucked the ring from its velvet confines to examine it closer. He’d come up with the design himself after learning that humans exchanged jewelry with one another as a symbol of their commitment and he’d wanted to give Ryder something as unique as she was. The angara had no such custom but if it was a part of his Darling One’s culture, he wanted to honor it, to show her the depth of his devotion in a way she was familiar with and would understand.

The blue and purple swirled stone he’d had harvested from his home planet of Havarl glittered from within its silvery setting, reminding him of the vastness of space his love had crossed to come into his life. He felt a smile tug at his lips. It was more than he had expected. Flawless. Almost as beautiful as the woman he hoped would soon be wearing it. His heart stuttered happily in his chest at the thought.

“Well?” Liam pressed, “Its good right?”

“Mmm,” Jaal rumbled. “It is perfect.”

“You want to run through it one more time?”

“Yes,” Jaal nodded. He felt slightly more confident with the ring actually in his hands. “If you do not mind.”

“Sure thing. So,” Liam pushed himself up off of the couch to stand. “From the top then. Just take a deep breath, relax, and pretend that I’m Ryder. You’ve got this.”

“Right. I can do that.” Jaal nodded and also rose from his seat and approached the other man. He closed his eyes for a moment, picturing his beloved in his mind and instantly felt more at peace. More centered. He opened his eyes and gingerly took Liam’s hands into his own, imagining his love’s small, soft hands in their place. Yes. He could do this.

“Sara,” the angara began, swiftly taking a knee as Liam had advised him was traditionally custom for one asking their other half for their hand in marriage. “My heart and my soul, I feel as though I have always loved you…”

At that moment, without warning, the door to Liam’s little sanctuary slid open. Gil, the ship’s resident engineer, came striding in. “Hey, just came to invite you two to…poker…tonight…uh…” Gil blinked. The sight of the crisis specialist seemingly being proposed to by their angaran crew mate, ring and all, stunned him silent for a moment. “I can, uh, I can come back later. Sorry, uh, sorry to interrupt…”

Liam and Jaal stared after the man as he turned swiftly on his heel and disappeared back out the way he had come. Liam looked amused. Jaal’s expression, however, ran more along the lines of acute distress.

The human burst out laughing at the angara’s distraught look, “Better get a move on, mate, if you want to keep the element of surprise. With Gil’s mouth, I give it about a half hour before the whole crew knows something is up. You don’t want him blabbing to the Pathfinder.”

“Shit,” came Jaal’s muttered reply as he quickly rose to his feet and straightened himself. Just like that, the nervous fluttering filled his stomach once more.

Losing you || Theo Raeken Imagine

A/n: this wasn’t requested, but after watching last week episode this idea came to my mind. It’s not the best but I hope you enjoy it! Remember to request something!

“Okay, we’re here, now what?” Theo asked as he nervously looked around the area you three were currently at. You guys decided to distract the ghost rider so they won’t take Scott and the others.

It was probably a suicide mission, but you knew that you needed to save Stiles. Not only him, but everyone who was taken by these monsters. You, Theo and Liam were standing outside of the hospital since Liam said he knows where we can hide from them, when they come to take us.Theo stared at Liam and he was about to answer when he suddenly had an idea. He looked at the two of us and ran back to the cop car and reached inside to turn the siren on. Theo eyes almost bulged from his head and he ran towards Liam and yanked him from the vehicle.

“Are you crazy! They will come right here for us!” He screamed at Liam, shoving him aside so he can get in the car to turn the siren off. Liam held his arm and pulled him back so he won’t go near the vehicle.

“That’s what we have to do, dummy.” You said to Theo. “We lure them here, where they are far away from Scott.” Theo stared at you and then back at Liam before he yanked his arms from Liam’s grip and let out a sigh.

“I’m not doing this for you two. If anything goes south, i’m saving myself.” Theo said through gritted teeth, staring at you. You nod your head and walked passed him to get inside. You couldn’t wait for this to be over with, so you can relax and forget any of this happened. Once inside the hospital, you looked around to see if you can find anything that can help you to prepare for what’s coming. You hear Theo bickering with Liam as they walked inside, and you rolled your eyes at them.

“Why is he spending so much time with her? It’s stupid!” Hayden growled.

“I don’t know, you’d think someone so quiet would be able to control themselves, I don’t even know why he turned her, she’s always clinging to him.” Liam snapped as Hayden lent against the wall next to him.

“He didn’t stay up all night with me when I was struggling.” Hayden said quietly as she glanced at Liam who nodded.

Everyone had arrived but Derek, at this point you’d assumed he just wasn’t coming but you pushed that thought to the back of your head. You had the pack to think of.

“It’s not fair, you’re taking care of him 24/7!” Jackson whined at you.

You sit the knife on the cutting board and cross your arms. “Oh yeah? Tell that to the gunshot victim lying on my couch. He needs constant care, Jackson.” You lower your voice and walk towards him. “He’s not the same as us, kiddo. You need to remember that.” Jackson was complaining about Stiles getting all of your attention and it had struck a nerve. “If you want attention, do something nice. I don’t give you attention because you’re so hostile to everyone. You can’t just be nice to me and think that it’s okay.” You smile as you place a hand on his shoulder. “Try being nice, Jackson..okay?”

Jackson lets out a deep breath. “Yeah, okay.”

He leaves the room and you go back to cooking when you noticed Derek. “Hey.” He smiles.

“Hey, when did you get here?” You smile back.

“Long enough to hear you talking to Jackson. You’re great at this, by the way.”

You shrug, “It’s natural, I guess.”

“Can I talk to you about something?” He walks toward you.

“Yeah, should we go upstairs?” You look up at him. He nods and you lead him upstairs to your bedroom.

“So..Liam imprinted on me this morning. Normally, I would’ve been ecstatic that I’m on my way to becoming a pack father..but I know you’ve already filled the parental spot.”

“That’s impossible.” You cross your arms. “He came over before everyone else and we had a talk. I felt the connection from his imprint on me.”

“You don’t think…?” Derek starts.

“I’ve only heard of it happening once or twice.” You look up at him.

“It’s possible. I’m almost certain Isaac has imprinted too.” Derek watches you carefully.

It’s incredibly rare but sometimes members of the pack can imprint on two people. It usually happens with a husband and wife and not two people who just met, but it happens. When members imprint on two people, the people are drawn towards each other, it’s almost like raising kids together.

“Should we go get Liam and Isaac?” He asks. You nod before sticking your head out the door, you call for them and you hear them bounding up the stairs.

“What’s up?” Isaac asks as he walks in and sits on your bed.

“Did you imprint on Derek?” You ask bluntly.

The both of them look at each other. “It’s not on purpose.” Liam says quietly. He looks sad, like he’s hurt your feelings.

“Hey.” You walk over to him and he looks up at you. “It’s okay. We still have our connection. My feelings aren’t hurt, it’s fine.” You nod reassuringly. Liam wraps his arms around you tightly and you smile. You ruffle his hair and hug him back. “You’re my pup, Dunbar.”

He laughs. “It’s not weird though, right? I mean, I didn’t imprint on you with any intentions.” He says to Derek.

Derek shakes his head and comes to your side. “I get it.” He smiles. Liam exits the room and you can feel his happiness radiating.

“If I’m being honest here, you guys are a hot couple. I mean, we just helped you out.” Isaac smirks, his head propped up on your pillows.

“Isaac up. Now. Don’t act smug about it because you’re embarrassed that you had a connection with a guy.” You walk over and pull him up by his ear.

“Ow ow ow..okay.” He pulls away and rubs his ear. “Sorry. I’m not embarrassed I just don’t want Derek to feel weird about it. You know…because I’m a dude.”

“Oh come on, Isaac. Don’t play the no homo card. That’ll get you kicked out real quickly.” You warn.

“I don’t think it’s weird.” Derek approaches him. “I appreciate that you felt you could come to me. You know I’m always here.” He pats Isaac’s shoulder. You saw how he talked to Isaac and you felt bad. They should’ve imprinted on him in the first place, not you. He’s an amazing father figure.

“Thanks. It’s just nice to have someone to talk to.”

“Isaac are you still staying with Scott?” You look up at the tall boy.

“Yeah, why?” He looks at you.

“Move in with me. I know the whole parent thing is touchy, so just let me handle it okay? You’ll have someone for parent teacher conferences, to sign permission slips…we’ll work something out, yeah?” You smile and take his hand. He looks like he might cry.

“Y/N, I’d love that. You’re a better mother to me than my biological mom.” You hug tightly.

“If it’s not too forward…I could help take care of him.” Derek looks at you. “I could move in, we could get legal custody…” You and Isaac pull away.

“A two-for-one deal?”

You laugh. “Yeah, Isaac. A two-for-one deal. It looks like you just got a new set of parents.”

“I’m going to go talk to Scott.” He smiles and leaves the room.

“I hope you don’t think that was inappropriate…me offering myself up to live with you.” Derek says.

“No, I mean..if we’re going to be pack parents it’s probably better that we are together anyway..” You smile. “Legally adopting Isaac too? That would be amazing.”

“Hey, sorry to change the topic..but I didn’t kiss you last night and I was just really caught up in you..and I hope you didn’t think that was weird because I did want to kiss you.” Derek rambles.

From what Scott has said about him you always thought he’d be kind of grumpy, not insanely adorable and soft. “No, it’s fine.” You smile.

“So, it would be okay if I did this?” He presses his lips to yours, pulling you close to him.

You kiss him back, mumbling against him, “More than okay.”

You kiss gently, nothing was escalating quickly. You hear footsteps and you pull away from him, smiling when you see Lydia enter the room.

“Stiles is being aggressive.” She pouts.

“What else is new?” Derek mutters.

“No, like he said he just wants you. He’s not letting anyone else get near him.”

You glance over your shoulder at Derek before going downstairs to Stiles. “Everybody out. Go out back or upstairs, I don’t care just out of this room.” You watch as everyone scatters. You squat in front of Stiles. “What’s going on?” You press a hand to his forehead, he still has a fever.

“I don’t know..” His voice sounds raspy. “I feel weird. I’m hot and extremely angry.”

You smile, Derek coming into the room with water. He hands it to Stiles. The younger boy sits up, drinking the whole bottle in no time.

You and Derek exchange glances. “Stiles lay back down.” He does as you say and you lift his shirt up where the bullet hole was, only to your surprise, it was gone. No hole, just the thread you’d used to sew stitches.

“Derek can you grab me the scissors?” You ask and he nods, going to retrieve them.

“Stiles, have you been feeling better?” You watch him closely as he nods. Derek returns with the scissors and you cut the stitches out and examine the area. Absolutely no sign of a gunshot wound.

“Is it possible you got bit?” You ask him quietly.

“I mean..I guess it’s always possible. Look who I surround myself with.” He responds.

“The bullet could’ve been laced in something.” Derek pipes up.

“That’s true. You were shot by another pack…”

“Wait, does that mean I’m a werewolf?” Stiles sits up immediately.

“It could..” Derek says and you stand up, sighing as you run a hand through your hair.

“Scott!” You yell, knowing that wherever he’s gone he can still here you. He runs into the house quickly. “What’s up?”

“I think Stiles is turning.” You turn and look at him, sensing Stiles’ panic.
