“It is definitely annoying that straight (and white, for that matter) is the default, and that the only people who have to think about their identity are the ones who don’t fit that mold. Straight people really should have to come out, and the more awkward it is, the better. Awkwardness should be a requirement.”
One of my favorite books and it’s by @beckyalbertalli.

So, i was searching for queer books, because I’m always looking for new ones, and I stumbled across Gracefully Grayson. Well, I decided to read the reviews for it, and one of them was by Rick Riordan. The author of all those super popular modern mythology books. I got excited, like ‘Oh boy! Riordan supports trans people! Wicked cool!’ Then I read the review. And I was immensely disappointed. Literally every time he references Grayson, he misgenders her. Gross.
My very small collection of LGBT lit, though I have a few more on my nook. (I really need to read more LGBT lit, any recs?)

So this made one of my worst days, probably my worst day ever into a better day, the amazing @beckyalbertalli send me kindly the brilliant book of hers #SimonVSTheHomoSapiensAgenda or #SimonVS. Is the kind little things that lights up your day and I could never repay you for this amazing gesture I can’t wait to read it.

So I finished Annie on My Mind today. It was such a great book, and although it was written in the 80s, none of it seemed dated to me. The story was great, I beamed along with Liza when her and Annie were together, and heard my heart shatter when things went awry. But one of the best things was that it ended happily. I definitely recommend to anyone who wants to read a good love story, or escape into an exciting 1980’s New York (to keep the fact that it’s SNOWING on the vernal equinox off of their mind). Just warning you now though, there will be feels ahead, but it’s SO worth it!) #annieonmymind #nancygarden #lgbtlit #totallyrecommend
This is more than a story about a man coming out, or even coming to terms with life. This is a story about a man learning what it means to love, what it means to learn that you have been in love, real and true love, only to discover that it is too late and looses that love. You could label the characters gay, straight, bisexual but then you would be missing the point. This story is about learning one’s self and learning love and fluidity of life itself. This is and excellent book, I only wish i would have had the courage to read this when I was much younger. This tragic beauty is a gem of literature and i would have much rather had spend my school days writing essays and having group discussion picking about this fine work instead of 19th century melodramas that all tell the same story except with different titles and different characters. This easily goes into my top 10 favorite books and read again pile.
