First kiss AU. Levi doesn't know what to do with his hands. ;)
A/N I kinda took your idea and flew away with it! I sincerely apologize if this didn’t turn out the way you wanted it! Hope you enjoy!
Do it. Do it. Do it.
Levi cringed slightly at the unconscious thought floating in his head. Nope. No way. He glanced over to the girl walking next him and shut his eyes. Mikasa Ackerman. The cold and beautiful “Ice Queen” of Titan High. Unparalleled in both sports and academics. Just thinking about it broke his resolve even more.
I can’t do it.
“Levi?” The girl beside him prodded his arm rather roughly, “Are you alright?”
“Fine! Just fine,” The boy sighed, his shoulders immediately relaxing at her touch.
The girl glanced at him, “You look like shit. Is it finals?”
“Yeah. That’s what it is.” Lies. Everyone knew he didn’t give two shits about finals. Being a genius in almost every field (second only to her), he’d already gotten full scholarship to a top college of his choice. He didn’t even need to take the finals if he wanted to.
Do it. Do it. Do it.
“Oi Mi-Mikasa,” Levi cursed himself for stuttering right at this moment, and his feet turned to mush as she turned to face him with her cold, onyx eyes.
“Will you go to prom with me?”
I can’t believe she asked me. Levi smacked his face with his hand angrily as he slammed open the door to his apartment. She had calmly faced him and asked the question that had been swimming in his mind for months. Stupid, stupid, stupid! Why did he turned into a blubbering mess at the most important moment in his short life?
“Bad day?” His foster father, Erwin, called from the kitchen. Levi blatantly ignored him and bolted to his room as fast as humanly possible, closing his door with a loud bang.
Erwin chuckled slightly. It must’ve been Mikasa again. It’s always Mikasa. What did she do this time? With a shake of his head, he continued to make dinner, a small smirk flitting across his face. It wasn’t hard to see that his foster son was completely infatuated with the girl.
Levi emerged an hour later, face weary and full of self hate. Erwin glanced up from his work, “What happened with Mikasa?”
The boy whirled around, eyes blazing, “What’s it to you?” He hissed angrily, like a cornered snake.
“Nothing. You just don’t do your work properly when you’re emotionally compromised.” Erwin stated calmly, unfazed by Levi’s anger.
Levi’s shoulders slumped in defeat and he fell into a chair across the man, “I’m going to prom with Mikasa.” He admitted miserably.
“Shouldn’t that be a good thing?”
“Yes! No- I don’t know!” He sighed, “She asked me, okay? I was supposed to be the one with the guts and instead I turned to a stuttering mess like that horse-face brat who asked her out earlier!”
“But she saved your blubbering ass. Again. And now you’re going to prom with your beloved Mikasa. It’s all good right?”
Levi snorted with a hint of his old sarcasm, before sulking again, “I don’t deserve her.”
“Of course you don’t. But she’s giving you a chance,” Erwin looked at him strangely, “What are you going to do?”
Levi wrung his hands anxiously in front of Mikasa’s door. Taking a deep breath, he raised his hand to the door, but not before it swung wide open to reveal a tall, brown haired boy.
All nervousness and anxious disappeared, and was replaced with cool, calm collectiveness, “Jaeger.” He greeted coolly, crossing his arms.
The boy’s eyes widened, “Levi Ackerman!” He looked rather flustered, “What-what brings you here?”
“I’m here to pick your sister up for prom,” Levi stated as smoothly as he could, ignoring the own fluttering of his heart.
The Jaeger brat’s eyes widened as if he was piecing to bits of vital information together, “Oh…Oh! So it’s you! You’re the one going with Mikasa to the dance!” The poor boy looked ready to jump up and down.
Levi rolled his eyes, but this interrogation was getting rather uncomfortable, “No shit, Sherlock. Now where is she?”
The boy glanced up, “She’s getting ready. I’m sure she’ll be down in a few minutes,” An awkward silence ensued before Jaeger began again.
“You know, Mikasa might seem kind of detached and cold most of the time, but she talks about you a lot,” At Levi’s widened eyes, the boy grinned, “Well, she never told me your name, but judging by the fact that you’re standing here, I put two and two together.”
“So, treat her nicely, okay?”
Levi looked down, barely hiding a small smile that threatened to show, “Alright, Eren.”
Before the boy could recover from that shock of his “idol” using his first name, Mikasa bounded down the stairs, “Eren, who are you talking-” She froze. Levi did too.
The word “beautiful” wasn’t worthy of her. She looked divine. The long, red dress with a high slit flattered her pale complexion. Her makeup was scarce; it was almost unnoticeable, but Levi prefered it that way. She had ditched the scarf (something he had never seen her do) and it was the first time she had exposed so much of her neck.
“Oi, Mikasa.” Eren shuffled uncomfortably at the doorway, “Are you sure that’s appropriate for prom?”
“Of course. When you go with Annie in two years, you’ll see.” With that, she took Levi’s slacked hand and pulled him away from her house, grinning slightly at her brother’s indignant spluttering.
Levi felt his cheeks heat up, “Am not.” His grip on her hand tightened slightly as they danced. It felt awkward and strange, but somehow rather endearing.
The girl laughed, something she hadn’t done in a long time, and moved closer to him, “You’re an awful liar.” Her face was inches from his. Levi couldn’t help but stare at those beautiful lips.
“You want to kiss me.”
“What!?” Levi’s face flushed pink, but it was hard to see in the dim lighting of the gym, “You’re rather accusatory today, aren’t you Ackerman?” He quipped with a hint of his usual sarcasm.
“But you do,” She countered moving even closer, causing his vision to tunnel slightly. She smelled so nice, like strawberries. Her usually dead eyes were so alive and bright.
He sighed, “Maybe.”
Mikasa suddenly grinned, “You’ve never kissed anyone before, have you?”
“And you have?” God, this was embarrassing. Levi’s face flushed even more.
The girl shrugged, “I’ve watched movies.” She wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him towards her.
“Where do I even put my hands?”
She laughed slightly and grabbed his hands, “Here,” She guided them to her waist. With no more questions, she wrapped her arms around his neck once more and closed the gap between them.
And it was the first (and probably the best) of many kisses that they will soon share.
