An asil Babson Arabian stallion that was trained to and competed at the Grand Prix level of dressage. He was ridden by the Chilean Major Hector Carmona, but was eventually phased out as the market turned to Warmbloods.
“When Hugin was around 12 years old I started to look around for the next generation of horses and went to a Frederiksborger breeding show. I saw a beautiful chestnut stallion and asked for the price but he was not for sale. Then, somebody came with a black stallion with an awful behavior, a long weak back and short, bad, turning legs. He offered the horse for just 1000€ to me. I said: “No, thank you.” But the horse looked directly into my eyes and said: “I am your horse.” I answered:“ No way!” and went home. I was not able to forget the horse and a few weeks later I took Tyson home.”
Regina couldn’t say she loved dressage, but she was talented, and it was logical to pursue and practice talents. Training in dressage seemed to be the one thing that would keep her mother barely civil with her, and it was worth it for that alone. There were other styles of riding she liked better, but beggars couldn’t be choosers. She would take a half-peaceful home life over pursuing what she wanted, any day.
One day, though, she hoped to get away from her mother permanently. She lived alone, but her mother insisted on funding her pursuits, as well as paying her rent. It was a nice gesture on the surface, but both Regina and Cora knew that it was Cora’s way of keeping Regina under her thumb. Regina worked as a dressage teacher at her stable now, hoping to eventually save enough money to be free of Cora’s influence.
She reported to the stable like usual, but when she saw who was in the ring, her lip curled with disgust. Someone she didn’t recognize had just stirred up a lot of dust and had set up barrels that would interfere with Regina’s practice.
“Excuse me. The ring is booked from 3 PM to 4 PM exactly. You need to leave.”
