let me tell you more about my life

littlewing56  asked:

Any advice on how to deal with failure? College is kicking my butt at the moment and any advice would be helpful. By the way you did an amazing job on voices for BOTW, I can't wait to see what you do in the future!

Let me tell you something about failure.

Way more often than it should, failure manages to convince us that we aren’t something. Not that we aren’t enough, mind you, but simply that we just aren’t.

This isn’t true. Failure at singing a song does not mean you aren’t a singer; failure to climax doesn’t mean you aren’t a good lover. Failing a test does not mean you aren’t a proper student, and failure did not make Nikola Tesla “not an inventor”; rather, it taught him all the different ways that would not result in what he was going for, leading him ever closer to finding the way(s) that would.

When we fail, we are given an opportunity to reflect and pore back through our actions and decisions. We have the chance to try and figure out what went wrong, or what we might have done that wasn’t as effective as we thought, or even what we did that hurt our efforts more than it helped. It is the ultimate reminder to review our process, because it’s sometimes harder when we succeed to remind ourselves to go back and identify what contributed to that success.

Failure is incredible, because it is the single easiest way in the world to make new friends. Nowhere in life is there an easier starting topic of conversation than going to someone who you feel is doing well at the thing you failed at, and asking them to help you figure out what to do.

Can you imagine? Regardless of how well you know this person, you’ve already made them feel important and valuable by asking for their assistance, and in turn you’re giving yourself the chance to improve instead of simply giving up. And further still, you’ve already established a common interest that you both share and can grow at together! What ridiculous efficiency!

In voiceover especially, this kind of connection is essential, because often when we ‘fail’ we are given absolutely no further information on the degree to which we did not succeed. Of those 20 auditions I never heard back from, I have no idea whether I missed the mark completely, if I submitted a strong take but just happened to not be the subjectively ‘best’ choice, or if something happened that was completely unrelated to the audition but nevertheless had an impact on my chances. And despite not having this knowledge, I must push myself to learn by any means necessary; I must move beyond the sting of rejection and refocus on further bettering my chances at accomplishment.

Make no mistake; failure fucking sucks. But it’s not devoid of success, and it most certainly does not represent a complete waste of effort and time (unless we allow it to be). How we deal with failure is very telling of how we will deal with a lot of situations in life where the problem we’re dealing with is not as simple as we want it to be; it’s up to you to determine how much you want those moments to play an important role in your development and path to success.

But who can say what’s best? That’s why you need to grab whatever chance you have of happiness where you find it, and not worry about other people too much. My experience tells me that we get no more than two or three such chances in a life time, and if we let them go, we regret it for the rest of our lives.

If you read this... let it all out to me.

Share your soul with me. Open up and tell me things you’ve never been able to tell someone else. Don’t say “I’m fine” when you’re not. I’m here for you. I’m here to make you happy and keep you there. No matter who or what it is that brings you down, it’s my job to bring you back up. Life hits hard, but I’m not gonna give up on you. I don’t care what it is that’s happening, because it’s not gonna stop me from caring the way I do. Share your passions with me. Let me see your eyes light up even more because you get so in depth about why you’re talking about. Open your heart up to me and let me hear what goes on in there. Tell me what you do and don’t trust your gut on, I know how much you go by that feeling. Tell me what you dreamed of the night before. I’d love to hear it. Tell me why you like the caramel creamer the best, and with sugar in your coffee. Let’s sit on your couch again and look through old photo albums. But this time, let me hear the stores behind the pictures. Let me hear your outlook and the best memories you have. Cook up your favorite dinner and let’s look up new recipes together. You know how much I love your cooking. Tell me what things go through your mind the most. I don’t care if they’re good, bad, plain, amazing, etc., they won’t chase me away. Let’s talk about the places you want to travel to. What rituals do you have every time you fly? Talk to me about your biggest fears and why. What scares you about relationships? What causes you the most anxiety? Talk to me about your day. Tell me what the best part of your day was. Know that my ears are always willing to listen to what you have to say. I might not talk a whole lot, but believe me, I’m more intrigued than you’ll ever know. I love you. I love your soul, your mind, you as a whole, and all that is you. You had me from the start, and I just want to know more.

hey friends :)

I’m gonna be real honest with you here, it’s been a long time since I’ve worked on the fake bf fic and writing is hard and life is just overwhelming as hell these days, so if y’all wouldn’t mind giving me just a liiiiittle bit of validation that my writing hasn’t turned to complete crap?? that’d be super cool??? please & thank you, here is what I have of ch. 6, it’s not a lot but hopefully there’s gonna be more soon now that I have some kind of flow???? idk man I love you all thank you for being so ridiculously patient

I’ve been seeing a lot of people freaking out by the “how old will you be in 2024″ post and how they ‘aren’t ready’ to be ‘that old’.

As someone who is currently older than most of you will be in 2024, let me tell you that it’s fine, everything’s okay, not that many people have a Life’s Purpose even at my age so you don’t need to worry about hurrying up and finding one. Extra responsibility is tiring, but it’s okay. Working full-time is tiring, but it’s okay. Neither of those things are as scary as they seem when you imagine them; your routines change effortlessly and before long you can’t remember what it was like being at university/school/living at home with the family.

As you age you become more certain about who you are, less insecure, and (hopefully!) more balanced in your opinions and perspectives. People start to take you more seriously. You worry less about what other people think and are more in tune with what you need as a person. If you have mental health issues like I do, you get better at managing them. You understand them and work with them.

Growing up seems scary when you imagine it, but all it is is you. There’s nothing you need to be ready for, because you will adapt step-by-step to the changes that happen to you and then you’ll look back on yourself now in 2024 and realise there wasn’t anything to be afraid of <3

But who can say what’s best? That’s why you need to grab whatever chance you have of happiness where you find it, and not worry about other people too much. My experience tells me that we get no more than two or three such chances in a life time, and if we let them go, we regret it for the rest of our lives.

I have my moments of doubt but this fucking show won’t let me stay there

This season we have had an episode where the Marco was trying to get out of the closet while wearing a skirt.

an episode opens telling us that Marco has experienced multiple ‘stuck in life’ dreams

An episode where a dog describes dysphoria in a scene where MARCO APPEARS MORE THAN THE PERSON THE DOG IS TALKING TO

An episode where the moral is that what you think you feel can change

And an episode about someone desperately wanting to be something they think they’re not, only for them to realize that they were that thing all along.

Edit: AND LOOK! @autisticbutchgabrielle reminded me of something!

LARPing means so much to me. It may seem geeky or lame or have a nerdy rep, but let me tell you, since beginning this crazy hobby? sport? cult? I have become fitter, stronger, and more outgoing. I’ve made countless friends, furthered my skills (like sewing, woodwork etc), and it’s given me a reason to get excited about something every week. It allows me to get away from the stresses and pressures of real life, which is a rare kind of blessing and I’m happy with the person I’ve grown to become. I’ve finally found ‘my thing’ and I’m never gonna give that up.

“Cas, you’ve been pretty quiet back there. You ok?” Dean asked from the drivers seat of the Impala.

Castiel remained silent and stared out the window. Part of him understood why you didn’t tell him and he wished he didn’t care; but how could he not care. Not only were you nephilim, but you were the spawn of the devil himself.

@kiyoko11: It’s been 9 months since my concussion and I am still healing. Our mind is a very powerful and gentle beast. This year was a challenge learning how to continue to work, while also relearning who I was, how to function, and how to find the light. Haven’t talked about it much but I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for being there and showing me my purpose. I was able to continue to release my Ep, and direct videos because of your support. It gave me strength to push through. Next year I’m excited to continue to heal, release my first album, tell more stories and tour to see you all in person. We are gaining momentum and being ‘heard’. I love you all very much. We must let our life experiences transform us so we can match the circumstances, and rise to be even better than before. Watch out world, we are coming to tell our story. Xx #BYE2016

slept 3 hours, woke up hungry, so let me tell you about dinner. I now call this our “90s vogue lookin healthy ass dinner.” sad inexpensive salmon cooks up honestly delicious in the old americana “wrap it in foil,” with the lemons in there, poachy, onion and dill. got this trick from my dad, of all things. eat it on/with a salad with a white wine vinegar + oil, MORE DILL, I like a nicoisy mustard dressing too but this calls for the bright white. shaved radish, onion, tomato. I eat this salad in some variant all the time, usually not so many light greens. romaine is a nice change sometimes plus the crisp greens are best with the salmon. the roasted carrots–caramelized crust, fragrant–were some of the best I have had. my #3 food tip after 1) frozen veg depression food and 2) dill in salads, is: get yourself right with god and carrots. never ever eat a baby carrot again. vegetables are supposed to have depth and flavor! and, frankly, dirt.

Let’s get into some PRAYER

The amazing Priscilla Shirer, in her book ‘Fervent’ says this… “Prayer is the portal that brings the power of heaven down to earth. It is Kryptonite to the Enemy and all his ploys against you”. When I read this the hairs on the back of my neck stood up, my toes started tingling and my heart knew that prayer isn’t something I should take lightly, and neither should you.

Now let me just tell you guys a bit about this journey God has been taking me on with my prayer life. Firstly, He led me to Priscilla’s book which is so much more than a book. It is a sharpening tool for your prayers which are your number one weapon in your spiritual life.. but i’ll get to that in a bit. She has named it ‘Fervent, A Woman’s Battle Plan for Serious, Specific and Strategic Prayer’, and if that doesn’t sound like something all of us need then I don’t know what is. God has produced something through her that makes the Devil shake in his boots because if there is anything that the devil doesn’t want is a world full of Fervent prayer warriors who wont stand for any of his meddling.

Right, let’s get into this.

What is prayer?

Well, like I said before prayer is your number one weapon to use in your spiritual journey, and BONUS, it is your means of communication and petition to God. It can be anything from thanking God for the lovely lady next door, asking for God’s blessing over your day to fully fledged battle plans against the works of the Enemy.

Yet, so often we find ourselves stuck in a box with our prayers. We pray the same thing every day with no enthusiasm behind us or any passion at all. We get stuck in a pattern of praying because we ‘want to stay good christians’ or because ‘it’s the right thing to do’. Maybe you are only a ‘Reactive Prayer’ and are able to pray passionately when you need God to help you out, but when your life is going fine.. He slips into the background and your prayers are silent. I am guilty of all of the above, and i’m pretty sure i’m not alone in that.

So, how do you pray? and more specifically… how do you pray and not sound like a broken record?

Priscilla uses a really helpful acronym ‘PRAY’ to teach us how to pray along the same lines as ‘The Lords Prayer’ in Matthew.

P: Praise, Let your heavenly father know that He is amazing, and you are thankful to be His. Every Father likes some kind words from their kids every now and again but no father deserves praise as much as our Father, the King of Kings.

R: Repent, we all screw up from time to time. No God doesn’t get angry, as the bible tells us that He is ‘slow to anger and rich in love’. By repenting you are cleaning your slate and giving Him your wrong doings which He will lovingly take away from you and make you new again.

A: Asking. God wants us to ask Him for our needs and desires.  Matthew 7v7 says, "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you”. There is so much power in asking, and He wants us to do it, but make sure you give God the praise He deserves before you get to you.

Y: Yes! ‘All of God’s promises are Yes and Amen’. This is where it is great to pray over specific verses and scriptures that are relevant to your situation and show the promises of God. Praying verses as prayers are soooo powerful.

So that is how you should pray.. but what about the other logistics?

“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you”- Matthew 6v6.

Through this verse, recent teaching at my church and through ‘Fervent’ I have learnt that setting aside a time and a place for God in your day is crucial. Pastor Chris Hodges came to my Church Conference earlier this year and also did a sermon on Prayer where he talked about his time and place of prayer in his day. He gets up early and spends his first moments of the day with God and treats it like an appointment and prioritises it over other things he could be doing. Now, I really wanted to be able to get up super early and do my big prayer of the day at the start of my day, but i am the furtherest thing from a morning person and i’m sure i’m not the only one! So, I have started doing my big specific prayer at night.

When I say ‘Big specific prayer’ i’m not meaning that you shouldn’t pray throughout your day.. you should totally do that! I’m suggesting that you sit down at a particular time you have set aside to hang out with Jesus and be strategic and specific with your prayers,

By specific I mean being Proactive as well as Reactive in your prayer life.

Pray for future areas of your life and the lives of those you love. Pray against any areas that the devil could sever your relationships, be it in your family, your friendships for your relationship with your BF/GF/Marriage. Pray for your passions. Pray for your identity in Him. Pray over your past so it cannot hold you in guilt but instead ask Him to free you. Pray over the things that are weighing heavily on your shoulders. Pray over your hurts. Pray over your purity.

I would also encourage you to write your prayers down and stick them on your wall where you can see them every morning and go over them. Use specific prayers for specific areas of your life to be your strategy against the works of the enemy whose aim is to steal from you, kill you and destroy you. He is powerful, but no where near as powerful as the Lord your God who has already won the battle and Has given you prayer to help you fight yours.

The state our world is in is evident that there needs to be more prayer and less fear and it is up to us to not let our weapon of prayer grow dusty on the shelf… No effective warrior goes into battle empty handed.

Your Father’s Heart

Matthew 7:11
11If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

Let me tell you a true story I heard. There was a pastor whose young child was diagnosed with cancer. The day his boy was scheduled for an operation, this father cried out to God, “God, I’m almost 30 years old, but my boy is only about three months old. Why don’t you just take some years off my life and give them to my boy?”

Then, from deep within him, he heard the voice of God say, “I am not like that.” When the man heard that, he realized immediately that his son’s sickness was not from God. He also realized that if he, who has faults, could want his child well, how much more his heavenly Father. So he changed his prayer and said, “Father God, I come against this sickness and I ask you for healing for my child.” That day, on the operating table, the surgeons could find no trace of cancer in the child!

Today, God wants you to know that He is not the kind of Father who wants you sick and defeated, keeps you poor and wanting, refuses to provide for your needs and denies you your blessings.

When my daughter Jessica was younger, I bought a beautiful teddy bear for her. Teddy bears are her favorite toys and I could not wait to see her joy when she saw it. My joy is to see her happy. When she is sick and has difficulty sleeping at night, it hurts me to hear her cry. When she is crying, I cannot ignore her cries. I enter into her discomfort and pain even though I know that her sickness is something that will pass shortly. When she is in pain, I feel the pain too. When she is sad, I am sad too.

I believe that God gives us children to help us understand what His Father-heart is like. His joy is to enter into your joy and see you happy. If you, in spite of your faults, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to you when you ask Him! My prayer today is that you will know just how much your Father loves you!

Thought For The Day
God’s joy is to enter into your joy!

When you’ve been super super nice to someone for a while and it turns out that they’d throw you under a bus at he first opportunity. Like, I tried so hard to be kind and do things for you yet you go ahead and tell lies to the people I care about and love. This is why I refuse to let people in sometimes. It just really sucks because I felt sorry for them because they’ve been through a lot lately in life hence why I went out of my way to be there for them. Yet here I am pulling the knife from my back. This won’t stop me from loving people because people are amazing and deserve love but I’m just going to be more careful with the friends I choose.

Dear people who menstruate, let me tell you about a thing...

There is a magical alternative to using tampons or pads called a MENSTRUAL CUP! If you have already heard of it great, you can stop reading now. But if you were like me and you have never heard of it before please carry on reading because this could change your life.

A menstrual cup is a safer, more hygienic, more practical, and (for me) just a much better way of dealing with periods. They look like this

and there are a whole bunch of different brands/sizes/colours. They are usually made of medical grade silicone and you insert them into your vagina during your period. The blood collects in the cup which you then empty into the toilet and rinse out your cup.

I will now list the benefits of this little miracle worker:

1) They are hygienic, there is no risk of TSS since they are made of medical grade silicone.

2) They also hold a lot more fluid than tampons do. This, as well as the fact that they are hygienic, means that you can leave them in for up to 12 hours!! (depending on how heavy your flow is)

3) They also don’t contain any of the harsh chemicals that pads and tampons have in them, so they are kinder to you body. Some people claim that wearing a menstrual cup actually makes their period a lot shorter because the body isn’t absorbing any chemicals and makes them have less painful cramps.

3) You only need one, for the rest of life! This means they are cheaper and you never run out, like you would with tampons or pads, because it is reusable. The only time you would need to replace it is if it started to break/tear (or if you bought a bio-degradable one which you need to replace every 10 years)

4) They are better for the environment as they are reusable, so you don’t throw away as much. And you can even get bio-degradable ones which will break down in the environment, unlike tampon or pads which come in plastic wrappers.

You may think these little guys look a bit intimidating, I know I sure did when I first heard about them. I thought, how the heck am I going to get that up my vagina? But do not worry my friends because once you get the hang of them it is very easy to insert and remove them.

This video is really helpful and shows a bunch of different folds. I personally use the origami fold as it seems to work best for me. Inserting it and removing it does take a few tries to get right and you can try the different folds, but it is really worth persevering!

I would also recommend this girl’s youtube channel, called PRECIOUS STARS PADS as she sells reusable pads as well as menstrual cups and is very knowledgeable about alternative sanitary products.

Sorry for taking up such a large space on your dash board, but I think it is important that people are aware of all the possible options for their bodies, and since I had never heard of it I thought I would try to spread the knowledge as much as I could, even if it is only seen by a few people.

Mun here, this time it’s not a quick thing.

So yesterday I asked if ya’ll would like to see me stream in Picarto, and some of you said yes!
Don’t worry, I’ll still stream. I couldn’t do it yesterday ‘cause I collapsed (I’m fine now, it happens from time to time) and the day went by with no stream.
I’m probably going to stream today tho.

But the main thing I wanted to talk about is way longer, so if you have a bit of time, then please keep reading.
It’s an explanation as to why I might dissappear from the blog suddenly for some days, though it’s not certain and I hope it doesn’t happen.
