A Pacific-type steam locomotive streamlined by the Lehigh Valley Railroad to pull the “John Wilkes” consist standing at Allentown station preparing to leave for New York City. There was an outstanding restaurant in the station, and the dining cars on the L.V.R.R.’s trains such as The “John Wilkes” enjoyed an excellent reputation. The “John Wilkes” ran between New York, New York and Coxton, Pennsylvania (Wilkes-Barre, PA). Circa 1935.
