In an effort to do an end-run around the negative publicity the problem-laden Keystone pipeline project has generated, Republicans in congress are planning to add the seven billion dollar project to an energy and highway bill, according to Reuters.

“If (Keystone) is not enacted before we take up the American Energy and Infrastructure Jobs Act, it will be part of it,” Boehner said on ABC’s “This Week” news program.

If that doesn’t work, then the fall-back plan is to attach the funding to the bill extending payroll tax cuts, or perhaps a jobs bill.  Ever greedy, other GOP politicians have talked of adding provisions that will open the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge to oil exploration.  Insiders state that the more things Republicans add to the pipeline project, the less likely it is to pass.  This is one instance where Republican greed may be beneficial to American interests.
