A/N: I’M BACK, BABY. A thousand apologies that it took so long for me to find my groove and stop being afraid of this fic. heh. I finally tackled it and miraculously, I’m in love with it again! Detective Barnes is back and I’m so excited for what’s ahead. :D Part 17 will be posted Friday, May 19!
Entering her office once again, Natasha stepped forward.
“Y/N, this is Mr. Kopecky. His aunt and uncle immigrated from the Czech Republic and he would like to keep them here legally.”
The man was facing away from you, reading the degrees and certificates adorning the esteemed lawyer’s office wall.
“Nice to meet you, Mr. Kope…”
As he turned your way, you lost all power of speech, ice freezing in your veins.
You remained frozen in place, eyes transfixed on the man who held a knife at your throat two nights ago and now haunted your dreams. Although, if you had passed him on the street you might not have recognized him. Instead of the bleach-blond hair and a clean shaven face, he now wore a knitted cap over a bald head with a few days’ stubble dotting his chin. Horn-rimmed glasses were perched on his nose and he wore khaki trousers with a long-sleeved black sweater and dress shoes. If it weren’t for the cold eyes fixed on yours and the scar on his left cheek, you could have sworn it wasn’t the same man.
Light bruising was visible under his eyes, you noticed as he took a few steps forward. His nose might not have been broken by your head striking it, but you definitely left your mark. Seeing him approach from across the room, you finally thawed enough to stumble to Natasha’s side.
“H-how did he get in here?” you whispered to her, your eyes never leaving his face.
A month after “Jean’s” debut, Meghie signed with CAA. The script, inspired by her family of Jamaican women, served as a calling card that led to deals with BET and VH1. In just another month, a script by J. Mills Goodloe was in her mailbox.
A little over a year after Meghie finished her first film, her second, Warner Bros. and MGM’s “Everything, Everything,” premieres in theaters everywhere.
That sort of movie-deal whirlwind doesn’t often happen to women, let alone black women. But as the film industry roils with conversations about representation and diversity in front and behind the camera, Meghie’s long-gestating talent was perfectly positioned to rise.
“There’s a conversation that’s happening right now that is helpful,” said Meghie. “But things are [only] going to change when projects like [‘Everything, Everything’] are made and they hire more women and minorities to direct and write. Otherwise, it’ll be up to us, like I did with ‘Jean,’ to do it for ourselves.”
Every once in a while, the lads from Led Zeppelin would also come over to Bulrush Cottage. Robert Plant didn’t live too far away, actually, and i`d go over to his place, too. I remember one night at Plant’s house - not long after we`d got back from Bel Air - I taught him how to play seven-card stud. That was a big fucking mistake. As i explained the rules, he said he wanted to place bets - ‘just to see how it works, y'know?’ - and then he kept raising the stakes. I was just beginning to think what a fucking idiot he must be when he pulled out a royal flush, and i had to give him fifty quid.
He fleeced me, the cheeky bastard.
I’ve been working with my Buckland Romani Tarot deck lately, trying to get more familiar with the imagery and energy of it. Today I decided to use it to try to find my signifier card and it led me to the card which in traditional decks would be “The Devil.”
Initially I wasn’t sure how to feel about it, but upon reading more about this deck’s imagery, and the meaning of this card, I think it does suit me.The “devil” in this deck is described as closer to Loki of Norse mythology than to the Christian anti-christ. He’s a giggling mischievous prankster, a woodland creature attuned to earth and all nature, and revered as a deity by some – the book says “as is his due.”
Summary: You come to Korea to visit your family after you graduate from college. Soon, you find yourself falling for a guy you meet online. There’s only one problem—you’re only in the country for thirty-one days.
You liked Tae. He was a really cool guy. You spent hours in the bubble tea shop and in the bookstore. It wasn’t until Yubin texted you that you realized that you were running late to meet them. You’d been having such a good time with Tae that you’d completely lost track of time. And Tae laughed and thought it was funny, so you nudged him.
You rolled your eyes and stood up from the corner you were sitting in. “Do you know where this place is?” You showed him your phone, showing him the message that your cousin sent.
“You’re serious about this?” You wanted to believe it was true, but it seemed too perfect.
“Yep.” Dean looked like a happy puppy ready to play. “You and me are going on a case alone. Sam is going to stay here at the motel and make sure that poltergeist is really gone, and we’ll come back when we’re done.”

Synopsis: His first question was simple - what did she miss most? “Besides you?” she replied. “The sun.”
He didn’t want to ask, but when all she wanted was to hear his voice, he couldn’t think of anything else to say.
She had simply uttered his name before passing out in the pit, as well as a few mumbled thanks when they helped her into bed. She fell asleep almost instantly, but Fitz couldn’t think of leaving her alone – not after so much time – so he stayed and slumped heavily against the wall. But now she was sleeping on his lap, the pressure of her hand on his leg pulling him from a deep sleep. He figured she might be a bit embarrassed by it, so he didn’t want to make a fuss. Instead, he wanted her to feel safe. And he wanted her to know that whatever she needed, even just a lap to sleep on, he would be there for her – no questions asked.
Moving his hand to the side of her neck, he brushed back her hair lightly and listened to her steady breathing, the most calming sound in the world. A few seconds later, he felt her turn her head slightly, possibly seeking out his touch, or simply feeling disoriented from the unfamiliar surroundings. He didn’t want to frighten her, so he leaned over gently to whisper close to her ear.
He watched her lips creep into a small smile, so he let out a soft sigh before moving his hand to her shoulder. “Do you want to get back on the bed? I won’t leave – I just figure it’s more comfortable…”
Instead of sitting up, she simply snuggled closer into his lap. “No,” she whispered. “Not yet.”

Curling up inside a dusty wardrobe and struggling to maintain steady breathing despite fear bubbling up with every noise is not how Y/N pictured the day going when she woke up this morning.
One particularly loud creak just outside the door sends a spike of panic through Y/N’s chest. She tries to make herself even smaller in the pitch black darkness of the wardrobe, but thankfully the footsteps wander close for only a moment before they fade away into another room. Y/N risks a soft sigh of relief, the ridiculousness of the situation almost forcing an incredulous laugh from her as well.
In my spread I see a fork in the road. It feels like looking at two choices and what they could mean (cliche, I know). So card one at the very top is the beginning of the ‘road’, the current situation. Card two below it is just before the fork, representing the situation that has led to the choices. Card three on the left of card two is the left fork, the best quality of the first choice. Card four on the right of card two is the right fork, representing the best quality of the second choice.
Time to read this spread!
Card 1- current situation: The outlook on whatever issues you are dealing with has improved greatly. There may be a job in the future, leading to a better situation.
Card 2- situation that has led to the choices: Superior physical or inner strength has led to greater opportunity for you. Whatever challenges lay ahead, you will be able to endure them.
Card 3- best quality of first choice: A new beginning or nurturing creativity. You will be able to reflect on previous efforts and improve upon previous shortcomings.
Card 4- best quality of second choice: You will be able to avoid poor authority figures and poor advice that would otherwise lead you astray. This choice may also allow you to do things your own way and not be restricted by strict rules.
So, I’m not quite sure what exactly my cards are referring to at this point. I didn’t have a specific question when I created the spread, so I’ll likely come back to this in a few days and redo it to clarify. Anyway, this is my tenth challenge! 🔮 @resonance-of-libra( I think this is how to link people to a post?)
For the past week, it had been storming outside. Badly. If they wanted to go on a hunt, they would need Cas to get them there. Something that Dean wasn’t a fan of. That meant the three of you were cooped up in the bunker, four when Cas was there. If you had to play go fish one more time, you were going to burn the cards.
That led to Cas surprising you one morning at breakfast. From his hand hung a white plastic bag. You raised an eyebrow at him, silently asking about it as you took a bite of your cereal. Dean was still trying to wake up, and Sam was reading something on his laptop, making Cas clear his throat. Once he had everyone’s attention, he grinned. “I had a feeling that you were all getting a bit tired of Go Fish…” His blue eyes went to you, making you blush. “So, I brought a game!”
“You have my attention.” You smiled softly at him.
Holding up the bag with one hand, he reached in with the other. “The lovely lady in toys suggested this.” He held up a box with the big red letters reading ‘Twister’. “I’m unsure as to why she looked a bit aroused at the idea, however.” He mused. Dean choked on his coffee, making you laugh.
“Go set up in the library. We’ll be in shortly.” You smiled up at him.
Cas had the game set up neatly, his shoes off to the side when the three of you walked in. “Cas, you have actually played this.” Sam pointed out.
“I have?” Cas asked, tilting his head.
“Yeah, when you, uh, were in the mental institution for me.” He told him.
Cas nodded. “Maybe I’ll remember how to play then.”
You chuckled. “It’s pretty straight forward. I’m guessing that Dean doesn’t want to actually play, so he can be the announcer.” Picking up the board with all the colors and hands and feet, you handed it to him. “For you, good sir.”
Dean sighed and shook his head. “If you and Cas start getting handsy, I’m out.” He muttered as he leaned against the closest table.
“Why would we get ‘handsy’?” Cas asked, curious.
You laughed as Sam told him quietly and watched Cas’s facial expression change. “He gets it now.” Sam grinned, amused.
You kicked off your shoes as Sam did the same. “Alright, right hand, blue!” Dean called out after spinned the arrow. Each of you moved easily into place. Looking at Dean, you all awaited the next move. “Left foot…yellow!” Your cheeks turned pink as Cas was the one behind you, something Dean didn’t miss.
Slowly, the moves became more and more difficult, but thankfully Sam had long limbs. That did help. He tended to go over other people, as opposed to under. “Your shampoo smells very pleasant.” Cas said kindly from behind you. At the moment, right hands were on red, as were right feet, and left feet on yellow. That left you basically leaning back in his lap.
You tilted your head back slightly and smiled. “Thanks. It’s green apple.”
“I’ll remember that.” He mused as you looked up again.
Somehow, you were in more of a crab position, leaning back, as Cas was leaning forward, his face seeming extra close to yours. Dean chuckled, shaking his head. “Ya know, Cas, there’s another version of this you can buy.” He told his best friend, spinning the arrow.
Cas glanced at him the best he could. “Really? I was unaware, as the sales woman only mentioned the one.”
“Oh, it wouldn’t be in the toy aisle.” Dean looked up, grinning as Cas furrowed his brows. “It’s Twister for the bed.” Him and Sam lost it as Cas got flustered for a moment and fell.
You were pinned. “Get. Off.” You groaned, trying to breathe. “Damn it, Dean!” Getting up, you stretched your arms and legs from being at such odd angles.
Cas looked at you. “Is it true, though? There’s a Twister game for the bed?”
“Yeah…” You nodded, not getting to say much more as he vanished. “The hell?” You muttered.
