learning to get along

anonymous asked:

ok hear me out Chuuya finding a pit-bull puppy, is torn over keeping her or taking her to the shelter because PM rules but she's so cute. Dazai shows up and she instantly dislikes him barking and stuff making me back away.. chuuya decides right then Mori can rip his new lil dazai repeller from his cold dead hands. Chuuya would now be seen with a tiny companion where ever he goes who grows up to be strong and deadly Dazai and her learn to get along cause you gotta keep peace with bae's protector

sjfdnvsfn this is so cute!

Chuuya totally takes in animals all the time. There was that cat that one night, the bird with the broken wing, the mice that had taken over the pantry. He insists on taking care of them and loving them like his own children. They always end up with someone else, thankfully.

And then… that damn pitbull.

She chases Dazai out of the house. She barks at him and gnaws on his bandages and takes Chuuya’s attention and Dazai starts plotting how to get rid of the mutt. Chuuya just loves his dog, and is blissfully unaware. One day, Dazai kneels down and looks at her and says,

“Let’s just… agree to disagree.” And shakes her paw.

The Ultimate SOUL MATES

Each sign has a soul mate. Some are combined by means of their oppositions, some by means of their similarities, but they are the absolutely perfect match for each other. It generally considers the SUN sign, but you can also use the rarer compatibility indication & check your VENUS (F) + MARS (M) / VENUS (F) + VENUS (F) / MARS (M) + MARS (M). Enjoy the aesthetics!

“Red & White” - ARIES & LIBRA

Both of them absolutely need that collision of opposites! The balanced and calm Libras need more drive in their life and so they are attracted to the restless, emotional and forceful Aries. Also, Libra is Venus ruling, so their sexuality is quite strong but reduced by their peaceful and quiet personality. So they seek for someone to open up their hidden desires and no one would do it better than the Mars ruling Aries.

This is a couple where both of the lovers are ready for new experiences and changes for the better. Even though Aries is incredibly stubborn, they get naturally cooled and matured by the help of the wise Air sign. Libra on their part, becomes more entertaining and free. As art lovers, they are ready for adventures that the crazy Aries is bringing into their life.

“Once and For All” - TAURUS & CAPRICORN

They are unchangeable and having a hard time accepting anything unfamiliar, but why should they learn to get along with someone they don’t feel comfortable with if they can be together? These are probably the 2 most similar signs in the horoscope and they make a perfect match. They have the same values & priorities, the same intentions and beliefs, they will support and understand each other entirely. One of the reasons for this perfect compatibility is that they have both, separately, fully complete personalities. They are able to have a great time being alone for the simple reason that they don’t need an opposite to get completed. Both of the signs are likely to fall for the other’s flaws, the flaws they are familiar with. Finding similar traits in each other is what they do best and it’s what keeps them together. They will make one of those couples that are just meant to be, together, they are capable of anything. Their stubbornness and their melancholic view on life might make them argue a lot, but their love is too deep for them to be apart.

“The Sunshine” - GEMINI & SAGITTARIUS

They are completely on the same level. They get bored of anything constate, any routine, they can’t sit still, always moving forward. This clot of energy isn’t for everyone to handle, but perfect for each other! This is the couple who might end up travelling in a van all around the world, raising children on the road, and won’t stop until they’ve seen everything. They are made to be wild together! Partying, living their lives to the fullest in every way. Gemini is the mind in this couple, though. It’s usually the one who has a higher salary, a more stressful job and is the boss in the family. Sagittarius is totally cool with that, though, they aren’t seeking control, they are there to enjoy every second. Their love is strong, passionate but yet so peaceful and spontaneous.

“Inseparable Dreams” - CANCER & VIRGO

Even though Virgos aren’t too romantic themselves, they like to absorb the tenderness and the open love that Cancers are ready to give. If a Virgo feels cherished, adored and appreciated, they will give the double of it back! This is a couple that will improve each other’s self-esteem, which both of them absolutely need. Completing each other, the Cancer becomes stronger emotionally and the Virgo outspoken and finally dares to open up. This is a love that won’t fade easily, won’t get destroyed by small, insignificant complications, it’s stronger than that since the partners depend on each other on a spiritual level. They might seem too attached and even grown one into another, but they are completely glad about it, they need each other more than they need anyone.

“Two Sides Of The Same Coin” - LEO & AQUARIUS

This couple is the definition of the famous saying “they are like two sides of the same coin.” They are very different at first sight, the Leo seems confident and outspoken, while the Aquarius is rather calm and shy, in fact, they are the same if you get to know them. The, so often artificial, Leo confidence turns into an incredibly generous love, care and harmony and the Aquarius’ timidity fades, they become open, talkative and a passionate. They hold each other so dear, they feel so fascinated by the fact that they are together, that they completely forget about everyone around. They can’t get enough of each other sexually and communicatively, they suddenly become affectionate and stop being attracted to many people at once, as they were used to be, because both of them finally feel like they’ve found what they needed most. A gorgeous couple worth admiring, and the main thing is, they know exactly how to make their partner look good!

“The Domination Game” - SCORPIO & PISCES

These two are about opposites attracting. Even though they are both Water signs, I don’t know any other personalities as different as this couple. Not many people are ready to put up with the amount of emotions a Scorpio gives their partner. Intense love, hypersexuality, jealousy, impulsive hysterias. But this looks good for a Pisces. They are flattered of the attention they get, they enjoy the emotionality and know how to calm their lover. On the other side, the quite passive, patient and nonviolent Pisces doesn’t seem boring to a Scorpio at all. They love the fact of domination and full control they have over the adaptable Pisces, basically no one is standing in their way to live the life they want to. Which is perfect for the indecisive Pisces. They are also compatible sexually, their intimate life reflects their public one. And finally about their similarities: the sensibility and intensity of love Water signs are feeling, especially for each other, is beyond compare!

-the animation is niiice, and I actually really love how the whole thing is handled. The characters learn to get along despite being so, so different, and it does bring to mind some interesting thoughts and ideas

The girls were bribed by their parents with a new apartment in the city… with one condition: they have to live together.

Hopefully this will force them to resolve their differences and learn to actually get along, but thanks to their horrible relationship all through childhood it’ll be difficult.

(that’s not even a joke, they have a ‘childhood enemies’ relationship status and so they get an angry “Ugh! Family!” buff whenever they’re in the same room)

Shipping discourse honestly could be avoided entirely with these simple steps:

1. If you ship a ship that may possibly trigger anyone or that people have expressed they are uncomfortable with, please tag appropriately. Better yet, put the ship name and any warnings in the actual post (possibly in a disclaimer) so even if others reblog and don’t tag, blacklist should still notice it.

2. If a ship makes you uncomfortable for any reason, don’t follow those who ship it, blacklist the ship name and any content warnings for things that make you uncomfortable or trigger you, and perhaps block those who are often making content for said ship if you don’t wish to see their posts in the searches or tags. Xkit and Tumblr Savior, as well as Tumblr’s own block feature, are very useful tools. Use them.

3. Similarly, if you do ship it, you can follow the same steps for avoiding those who don’t and are vocal about it.

4. You can post your opinion against the ship on your blog. That is fine. However, put slashes through the ship name if you mention it (both in the post itself and in the tags) so that it doesn’t show up in the search where the fans of said ship will be browsing in hopes to see more content of that ship. They are not, ever, in a million years, hoping to see your negative opinion while looking for content. Same goes for using the tags they use.

5. If someone expresses they are uncomfortable with a ship, do not press the matter. Do not bug them until they give you a reason (that reason could be trauma that the ship reminds them of and they, under no circumstances, are required to reveal that information to you). Do not intentionally send them it. Do not push it on them. Do not expect them to possibly cater to you and your wants just because you do happen to like it. You would not like the same done to you.

6. If someone does ship a ‘problematic’ ship, they are not obligated to give you a reason in order for their shipping of said content to be ‘acceptable.’ Again, past trauma may be involved and they are not required to give you that information under any circumstances. You may trigger them. Don’t press it.

7. Do not target specific blogs or vague about others that have the opposing opinion of you in regards to a ship. Or anything, for that matter. It’s not only rude but crossing a line. You want them to respect you and your boundaries? Respect theirs.

8. Do not throw around serious accusations/insults like ‘pedophile’ or ‘abuse apologist’. For one, what someone ships does not at all mean they condone any problematic content involved in real life. Secondly, you may be throwing shade that could very well be related to past trauma (ie calling a csa survivor a pedophile) and that could cause flashbacks and/or panic attacks. That’s not cool at all. Have some human decency.

9. If a ship is generally considered bad by the fandom and you create content of it, please attempt to avoid using the general character tags. If unavoidable (like with the case of fic, where the character names are likely to come up) please be sure to put warnings in your post and try to make it as easy to blacklist as possible.

10. Do not intentionally seek out drama from people on the opposing side. Do not intentionally try to start shit or go after anyone over it. I would think this would be obvious, but it apparently isn’t. No matter your side on the matter, this is unacceptable and only makes others on your side look bad and take away from the credibility of your opinions. It also will make people less inclined to care about your side of the matter and won’t really benefit you in the long term.

11. Remember that YOU are responsible for YOUR comfort in your browsing experience. No one else is. If you are bothered by anything in fandom, whether a ship or those who oppose said ship, then you need to do what you can to make your browsing experience safe from it all. YOU. Not others. No one else is responsible for that but YOU.

12. However, you should also do what you can to make your content able to be avoided easily by those who will do what they can to do so. Remember to make sure you make your post easy to blacklist by those who may want to avoid it. If someone sees a post that upsets them because you didn’t do whatever you could to make it possible for them to not see it, then that isn’t exactly fair either.

13. Remember that there is a real, live, complex human being behind that computer. There is more to them than what they ship or don’t ship, and acting like that is the all there is to them is not showing them respect. It doesn’t matter if they do things you think isn’t okay. They deserve respect as a fellow human being. Even if there is discourse between you guys, please don’t forget there is a human being there and they are just as complex as you and deserve to be thought of as such. There is always more to these things than is shown on the surface, and that should be considered when interacting with them. Stay calm and consider their side as well as yours and be respectful of both sides. It’s hard, I know. It’s so much easier to dehumanize a person and judge them entirely off of one aspect of their lives. But the easier path isn’t always the better one.

Please consider all of these points for the future. If we could all learn how to get along and respect each other, then discourse about this could easily be in the past. We should all be coming together to celebrate a piece of media we all like, not tearing each other apart over insignificant things like ships.

Diamond City’s littlest detectives

dancing-thru-clouds  asked:

Okay, Tegs, I'm gonna have to ask you to explain the 'getting asked to leave preschool' thing

Preschool was a weird time for me. I was one of those horribly precocious children- I’d taught myself to read before I was three- and so while my classmates were learning their ABCs, I was reading chapter books I’d brought from home. It was honestly a total waste of time, and I acted out a lot because I was bored as hell. It was really more like day care, but understaffed- for the entire three and four year old class, there was only one teacher. Her name was Sister Ida and she would play us songs on the guitar and sing. But this wasn’t enough to mollify me; I had been SO EXCITED about school because that’s where you get to learn. The kids in books all went to school- my mom says that the summer before I started pre-school, I’d get out of bed and wake her up in the middle of the night asking if it was time to go to school. But then school turned out to be an utter disappointment. A lot of preschool is really about socialization; learning to share, learning to get along with other kids, learning not to be pushy- but I would shut down around other kids because I just wanted to read books. I’d throw a fit when my books were taken away, so Sister Ida just let me read. What else could she do? My parents didn’t want to move me up a grade because I was bad enough at talking to children my own age and they really didn’t think I’d thrive with kids older than me. I wasn’t more mature emotionally than my age cohort- I was just academically quicker, and that was a recipe for disaster if they’d bumped me up.

My parents could never get stuff done with me around, because I was always asking a million questions, so they turned to that old standby, the electronic babysitter. If I was out of books to read, I could turn on the TV; my mom just left the one in the living room tuned to the Discovery Channel.  This was old school Discovery Channel, not the reality show network it is today, which meant that I was watching animal documentaries all the time

One day, I saw a documentary about sea turtles. Specifically it was a program about the miracle of sea turtle birth- how they have so many eggs and how they don’t all make it to the sea. There was a segment on how the sea turtles find mates and how the males hang onto the females for up to twenty-four hours and how mating is violent but then she has all those eggs… I thought it was amazing. It seemed like some kind of magic trick- insert magic wand, presto change-o, baby sea turtles. I decided that I would take this in for show and tell- I would demonstrate (drumroll, please) mating

I had these little plastic turtles that I put in my schoolbag. Show and tell came around and when it was my turn, I stood up in front of the class and said “I’m going to show you how sea turtles mate!”

Sister Ida was not fast enough to stop me. I started talking about how the sea turtles entered a mating bond and stacked the plastic turtles on top of each other and then talked about how the eggs came out of the female’s cloaca. It was upsetting to the other children because I was using big words they didn’t know and it was upsetting to the nun because I was teaching three year olds about sex. When I started talking about how the male enters the cloaca and stays there for as long as a day and how the female sea turtle tries to bite him because his claws hurt, well… they’re just lucky I didn’t have visual aids beyond those two plastic turtles because male sea turtle genitals are enormous and horrifying.

This all led to a conference with my parents where the principal explained that 1.) I wasn’t learning anything; 2.) that my boredom was actually diminishing my burgeoning social skills; 3.) and that I was introducing material that wasn’t grade appropriate to kids who didn’t understand. Really, it was the best thing for me- the principal thought that I’d be better off at the public school where they actually had resources beyond a singing nun with a guitar. So when it was time for kindergarten, that’s where I went.

Juggy & Bets Theories :D

[SPOILERS]

There’s been some worry going around that there hasn’t been a lot of development when it comes to Betty and Jughead’s relationship in the story. People kind of feel that, even though they know from spoilers that something will happen, they don’t know if it’ll be justified. I think it will, but not in the way most people are thinking. See, Betty and Jughead aren’t just meeting each other for the first time at the beginning of the series. They already know each other very well, and are friends in the way most people would be if they were best friends with the same person for a similar amount of time. Jughead and Betty are friends out of default because they both are very close, very old friends of Archie’s. Because of that, their relationship is a little different than other friendships probably. Likely Betty and Jughead met each other as early as grade school, and learned to share Archie and get along with each other ever since. They ended up probably hanging out with each other when they were younger, more out of obligation to Archie. I imagine they spent some time being not just friends, but enemies too. They’ve likely seen each other at their worst, and their best and come to truly appreciate each other. They’ve seen each other’s strengths and weaknesses, and learned to compliment each other.

And I think the writers are slowly building up that existing closeness with the audience. There’s a few things that really tip us off about this relationship.

1. Nicknames - Betty and Jughead both have nicknames for each other. Betty has nicknamed Jughead “Juggy,” and Jughead has nicknamed Betty “Bets.” Both people are very reserved, and this is a closeness that they are comfortable sharing. It’s also a pair of nicknames used only between them.

2. Being able to hang out together alone without being awkward - This is a huge one. Being of the opposite gender and in high school, the fact that they can hang out at the newspaper or anywhere else for that matter, together alone likely for extended periods of time, means that they are incredibly comfortable being around each other.

3. They talk off screen - When Jughead showed up to talk to Betty at the paper, it wasn’t because he wandered in. Betty spoke to him off screen prior to that to tell him to meet her. And he showed up, even though he didn’t really understand why she wanted to meet. The fact that the initial interaction happened off-screen suggests that they talk a lot more than the series lets on.

4. Sharing inside jokes and knowing what the other wants and feels without talking about it - There are small moments between these two where they have real chemistry. Like when Betty asks if he and Archie want to join them in Pops, and Jughead has his first real moment of bold charisma and charm in the series. Or when Jughead asks Betty what kind of film she wants for closing night and she names “Rebel Without a Cause” and he looks over at her with the most loving, “you do know me” expression there is. In that same vein, when she sees Archie come through the doors moments later with Grundy, and Betty dismisses herself, Jughead knows exactly what she’s about to do, finding out within seconds that she knows the same thing about Archie that he knows. He instantly throws as much effort into trying to stop her as he can, because he doesn’t want to see her get hurt.

5. Jughead cares deeply about Betty - I know this is a huge leap, but hear me out. If you watched the thunder rolling through Jughead’s emotions this past episode, the disbelief when she went on a date with someone else, the way he tried to comfort her about Polly, the way he blushed when he stood in front of Betty in a suit, and the way he held on to her and went after her the more the world tore her down, you might understand where I’m coming from. Jughead strikes me as someone who doesn’t love easily, and when he does, it begins very subtly before it completely knocks him on his butt. But his physical affection towards her stretches leaps and bounds because he isn’t comfortable with hugging or holding anyone else. Not even in a bro-like way. The fact that he’s extended that affection so much in a single episode also suggests something else… He was waiting for her to get over Archie. He stood out of the way and let her work it out and heal until he was sure she was okay. And then despite everything that was going on in his own life, he stood in front of the storm and let her use him as an anchor when she needed him.

6. Betty trusts Jughead more than anyone else - Out of all the close friends that Betty has, the one person she chooses to spill her darkest, most gut-retching secrets about her sister to is Jughead. Her trust for him runs so deep that when he makes a suggestion that a member of her own family could be involved in Jason’s murder, she pins it up as a viable possibility without argument. She trusts him because he doesn’t throw his words around lightly. She trusts his instincts and his reasoning, and he respects her for her rationality and her intelligence… something they both share.

I’ve written a lot (I’m not sure all of it makes sense either), so I’ll just say… we’re getting there, and I think its going to be amazing. If anyone is interested, I did dive a little more into Jughead’s personality > here <. :)

I can’t get over their relationship. Tony finally gets a son he never had and is learning how to be a good father unlike his own dad and Peter finally gets a dad who is also the (somewhat) perfect role model he needs since his dad has passed away so early in his life, just like Tony. They have some things in common and some they don’t but they get along just fine and will learn from each other. Like father. Like son.

McGonagall getting tired of regularly running into Draco and Harry on the verge of a duel - wands drawn, bellowing insults at one another - and warning them that unless they learn to get along like the rest of the 8th years she’ll have no choice but to expel them.

McGonagall, a couple of months later, getting tired of regularly running into Draco and Harry around various deserted corners, practically having sex right there - Draco on his knees with his mouth full of Harry’s…er, wand, and Harry with his hand down the back of a screaming Draco’s pants - and warning them that unless they found a more private spot to conduct their interminable sessions of heated, very public snogging, she would have no choice but to… sincerely request them to behave themselves, this was simply not acceptable!

McGonagall not knowing which was worse. McGonagall being exhausted by the time the boys leave Hogwarts.

Lilli’s show started as a satirical show for adults, with Lilli and Billy as the main characters, two outcasts who annoy, prank and steal money from people (mostly Larry)

Then their creator decided to change the show and make it more kid friendly to get a larger audience, he then created Harold Willie and Eugene, but the original 3 toons weren’t very happy with the idea, even though they didn’t get along at first, Lilli slowly learned to like Harold and then they got married.

But after a fight with their creator, Lilli was about to get erased and Harold decided to protect her
he ended up being erased instead of her.

Headcanons: Dany meets the Starks (esp. Sansa and Arya)

So I have this for a prompt fill which is kind of like this in a fic format but I just wanted to write a quick set of headcanons before I start on today’s fic :) I’ll tag @toaquiprashippar who also asked for this

  • at first Dany isn’t sure what to make of the North, especially the snow. Jon’s spent almost the entire boat ride north telling her about the North and his siblings but she’s still a bit nervous to meet them and she’s not sure what to expect. Jon isn’t sure how his siblings will react to Dany, or the fact that he’s declared himself for her-at this point he’s not even sure what the North will be like, since he’s been away so long
  • Dany is always secretly jealous of the stories that Jon tells and the happy family he came from-she wishes that she had siblings like his; he can’t think of them without smiling and whenever he tells one of his stories about when he and Robb stole books from the library or how he was planning on teaching Arya to swordfight, his face always lights up
  • she mentions Viserys once, almost cursorily, and he seems to take the hint; he never asks about him again. And of course, they don’t talk about Rhaegar
  • Sansa is run ragged getting the castle ready; she’s not sure what to expect from the Dragon Queen and she knows the last thing they need is another enemy. She doesn’t trust a Targaryen, even one that Jon is so obviously smitten with (did he write fiancee in his last letter? When did that happen?)
  • of course, Bran knows exactly when boatbang happens but he decides not to say anything
  • Arya decides to make sure that Dany is good enough for Jon; she’s ecstatic to see her brother after all of this time but she’s afraid that they’ve changed too much. What if they’re not as close as they once were?
  • the Starks are waiting outside when Jon and Dany arrive, like in Season One when Robert arrived. There’s an undefined tension in the air; no one’s quite sure what’s going to happen, but everyone is looking to avoid conflict
  • Ghost won’t stop pacing; Arya eventually has to try and calm him down because he’s putting everyone on edge
  • Sansa and Arya both hug Jon immediately-it’s the closest thing to a Stark family reunion they’ve had since season 1. Then Jon introduces Dany
  • Sansa has heard rumors about the Dragon Queen from the South but that doesn’t quite prepare her for actually seeing Dany; she’s still suspicious of the Queen’s motives, but she looks ethereal in her white and gold dress (she says they’re the colors of the dragon she lost; she’s mourning him). She doesn’t want to be reminded of Lady, but in a way she is
  • Dany and Arya hit it off almost immediately. They bond over their love of Jon; they end up sitting next to each other at the evening meal and pretty soon they’re making each other laugh and Arya’s telling her funny stories of Jon as a baby. Arya is actually the first one to accept the Targaryen queen and she appoints herself as Dany’s official guide around Winterfell
  • when Dany realizes that Arya and Gendry have a history, she plays hardcore matchmaker until one night when they’re sparring (Needle versus Gendry’s warhammer; Arya more than holds her own) they end the night kissing passionately under the stars
  • Sansa is a little harder to convince; she talks long and hard with Jon about his fiancee, but ultimately what convinces her is the bits of Dany that she sees when she’s not being queenlike. One night she accidentally walks in on Dany crying over Viserion and they end up talking for hours over rapidly cooling cups of tea. They’ve both been mistreated and grown stronger because of it and they’re both impressed by how much the other has accomplished
  • Sansa realizes that Dany doesn’t seem much like a tyrant. Plus she sees how well she and Arya get along and how much Jon loves her. Like, seriously. She’s never seen him even look at another woman the way he looks at Dany-the way she once hoped that a prince would look at her
  • but what really gets her is when Jon tells her about how Dany flew to his rescue beyond the Wall even though she didn’t have to and even though she lost so much
  • Jon only tells Arya that he and Dany had sex on the boat; Arya is not surprised because she knew it from the beginning
  • and of course Bran tries his best to be social but he usually ends up creeping everyone out
  • Dany loves both of the Stark girls, especially when they realize that she doesn’t really have a family of her own and (more or less) decide that they’ll be hers. They both look up to her as an older sister, even though she still learns plenty from them
  • Arya and Sansa tend to get along better when they’re around her-and they’re slowly getting used to each other too, because they’re stronger as a pack than they are alone (no Starkbowls here)
  • Jon and Dany are married in Winterfell’s godswood in a small ceremony; the Stark sisters are both in attendance. Sansa makes Dany’s wedding dress practically from scratch and Arya gives Jon away
  • Basically, I headcanon Dany and the Stark sisters being the best of friends. I’m not a fan of pitting them against one another for Jon’s affections because he loves all of them in different ways and they’re the most important women in his life (along with his daughters)
  • Daenerys, Sansa, and Arya are all strong and powerful women who have gone through a lot and deserve love and happiness

you wanna know another reason nicole definitely realizes what she did was wrong?

because she just proved wynonna right

they were finally getting along but nicole reading waverly’s mail and lying about it is a perfect example of her being everything wynonna has accused her of: overprotective, controlling, waverly’s “keeper”

until this point she probably brushed off most of wynonna’s comments about her because she’d been doing everything in her power to treat waverly right. but now it’s dawning on her that she’s capable of being all of those things and probably hates those qualities

so now she not only has to get waverly to trust her again

but it’ll probably take twice as long for wynonna to trust her

and that matters to nicole because wynonna matters to waverly. and even though she was just talking about how hard it has been for her to fit in, she has just taken several steps backwards in doing so

Novel Length | Stony Fic Recs

Long chaptered fics with delicious slow burn and world building.

Last updated 4/2/2017.

Fics over 50k words.

Just before the events of Iron Man, a baby is left on Tony’s doorstep. He wants nothing to do with it at first, but his time in Afghanistan changes his mind and Tony vows to become a better man for his son’s sake.

Six years ago, without the Avengers Initiative there to save the day, scientist Dr. Eric Selvig sacrificed himself to save the world, the almighty demi-god Thor was lost to a terrible storm, and vigilante Iron Man – spotted with a nuclear weapon trying to take advantage of the situation – was forever labelled an enemy of SHIELD.

This is a comic book office AU, where Steve is defrosted a year too late, Thor has forgotten who he is, and no one knows Tony is Iron Man.

Also includes: office pranks, inappropriate post-it notes, and superheroes who like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain

Steven Rogers never wanted to be king, but he knows his duty, and he does it well. Lord Tony Stark, the king’s appointed consort, does his duty as well, even though he’d enjoy his duty more if it actually involved sleeping with the king. As it doesn’t, he’s just resigned. The war that made Steve king and cost him nearly everything may be over, but a meeting of old enemies might stir up some ghosts none of them are prepared for.

Steve Rogers has plenty of friends. He just doesn’t know two of them are the same man.

That’s just how Tony Stark/Iron Man likes it. Until he comes to regret it.

And Tony realizes that working out who the Winter Soldier used to be and who he is now are two entirely different things.

Soulmates have their first words to each other written on their wrists. This should make it easy. For Steve and Tony, it is anything but. Steve’s problem is that the future he has awoken into is nothing he was ever expecting: he has a soulmate now. Who might be a robot. And if his soulmate is Iron Man, how can he be so attracted to Tony Stark? It should be impossible. Tony’s problem is that he is Iron Man, his soulmate is a man whom he in no way deserves, and he is going to fight everything in his heart and do his best to make sure Steve never, ever finds out the whole truth.

A visit from a Reed Richards from a parallel world convinces Tony and Steve that they must do whatever they can to prevent their world from falling into Civil War. They can save the world…but at what cost to themselves?

After a tragic accident, Steve is given a chance to go back in time and deliver a warning to Tony in the hope of avoiding their fate. Something’s gone wrong, though, because this is not his world he’s ended up in. And that is definitely not his Tony who’s planning to delete his own brain.

Sometimes your second chance isn’t at all what you were expecting.

Where Steve doesn’t quite die, ends up stranded in the multiverse and would quite like to know how the hell so many versions of himself ended up sleeping with Tony Stark. Well, that’s going to make things a tad awkward when he gets home.

Age of Ultron-based, but not entirely canon compliant. Written for the 2013 Cap-Iron Man Reverse Big Bang. Ultron has attacked, obliterating most of the world’s superheroes and resistance in a matter of hours. The remaining heroes band together and share what strength they have to get through it, to survive, and defeat Ultron once and for all. Steve Rogers grieves in the wake of the disaster and the heroes’ defeat, and no one knows if he will be able to provide the leadership they need–but Tony Stark isn’t about to let him slip away that easily.

When Tony and Steve’s son from the future, Jake Jensen, arrives at Avenger’s Tower, the two of them are forced to confront some hard truths: Tony that he might not actually become a horrible father, and Steve that he might not be able to set aside his discomfort with sharing a child with another man. When they both get a second chance at a first try at fatherhood, it’s up to the two of them to learn from their own future’s past.

Tony Stark spent his childhood making weapons, filling the hole his father left in the world when he succumbed to alcohol, grief, and his own demons. At the age of fifteen, he ran away from home, and made it as far as MIT before all of his responsibilities caught up to him. Now seventeen, he just wants to finish his degree and escape from everything connected to the Stark name.

Steve Rogers crashed into the icy North Atlantic in the 1940’s, sacrificing himself to save the world. He never expected to wake up, and now that he has, he’s not sure he’s glad. The US Army has other plans for him, but for now, Steve is slowly learning to live life in the 21st century, and taking classes at Boston College. He’s beginning to suspect that there is no escape.

Boston College is on the T’s Green Line. MIT is on the Red. The two lines meet at the Park Street Station, and so will Steve and Tony.

Tony goes to see Wanda, and suddenly Steve is alive and there are Skrulls! Or maybe Tony is just going crazy. Nothing happens in this fic, until the very end. Seriously. There’s a lot of talking, mostly at inopportune moments, Tony’s views on the acceptable gifts to give people are slightly different from everyone else’s and he spends more time than would seem necessary being (half-)naked. What else is new?

When Captain Steve Rogers wakes from an injury-induced coma, a lot has changed in the battle against the Kaiju. There are new Jaegers with new pilots, new advances in the study of the beasts, even new rules in the Shatterdome. It’s starting to seem like they’re finally ready to defeat the monsters once and for all, but first Steve must learn to get along with his new team of pilots. Especially the troublesome Tony Stark, who’s proving to be harder to deal with than the Kaiju problem itself.

A story of recovery. In a world without superheroes, Tony Stark, the disinherited son of a billionaire, goes to Afghanistan as an embedded media star, only to be held hostage for months until he’s rescued. During his recovery, his therapist Doctor Bruce Banner prescribes an unusual treatment; volunteer work at a rehab center. He meets an eclectic assembled group including a vet who thinks he’s Thor, a physical therapist who might be a spy, and an all American hero, Steve Rogers. It is Steve Rogers, the soldier in a coma, who captures his interest and, eventually, his heart.

Fics over 100k words

A series rewriting MCU verse, beginning with an alternate version of Iron Man 2, in which, instead of Natasha, Steve got assigned to help Tony while the genius was slowly dying of Palladium poisoning. Continues there in unfolding Steve’s and Tony’s journey through acceptance, trust, and eventually love.

Steve takes things like personal responsibility and respect seriously. Tony’s got people he pays to take care of that kind of thing, and anyway, he’s pretty sure that he’s going to die of some exotic disease in his workshop, because Dummy’s still a little spotty about what is ‘clean’ enough to put on an open wound. The rest of the Avengers are in this for personal gain, except for Clint, he just enjoys being a dick. And some things shouldn’t be a chore.

Tony Stark is Iron Man.

Before that, he was an man with bigger heart than brain. Before that, he was an asshole with a bigger mouth than sense. And before that, he was was a scared little boy. Not that it matters. Stark’s always have had iron in their backbone.

Tony has been held by Stane since his escape from Afghani terrorists, marked dead in the eyes of the world while Stane is free to use his mind, inventions, and company as he sees fit. Tony feels there’s nothing he can do and has resigned himself to death to save those he loves. That would be when JARVIS lets Captain America stumble into his old lab.

Steve has been wandering Avengers Mansion in the steps of a ghost, seeing empty spaces, and recurring oddities that mean nothing to anyone but him. He doesn’t know who left them, or why the ghost lingers. It isn’t even until he enters a dusty lab that things start to fall into place as he meets Anthony, a computer program named for its creator Anthony Stark.

There were days when the realization that he was someone’s father made Steve’s head hurt, but mostly he was grateful that he could trust his instincts, because apparently Peter was what had been missing from his life. Yes, he still had lingering, unresolved issues from his time in the Army, and sure, he had what Bucky annoyingly referred to as a criminally untapped ass, and no life outside of work and Peter, but Steve was okay with how his life had turned out because of trusting his instincts.

Unfortunately, those same instincts had straight up betrayed him by going absolutely haywire upon being exposed to Tony Stark.

Tony is a King with a surprising number of people out to kill him. Steve and the rest of the Avengers are fighting for Pierce’s rebellion and end up with Tony as their prisoner. Oops.

Basically one of those bodice-ripping romance novels I don’t read (ahem) but with far more gay.

A story of revolution.Captain Steve Rogers is just trying to pay off his debt to SHIELD, carting cargo from the Rim worlds to the Inner Belts in his bucket of bolts ship, the Howling Commando. He keeps a low profile and makes sure his crew is safe and happy. But the universe has a different plan for the once highly decorated Captain of the Honor Guard. The universe drops a Courtesan by the name of Tony Stark into his life. The Captain doesn’t like it, but Bucky convinces him that providing transport to the most elusive Courtesan in the Guild could be their ticket to freedom. His crew from the engineer with anger management issues to the pilot who may be a beautiful but deadly assassin wants him to take the commission. What ends up being a simple commission puts his crew in jeopardy and could change all of humanity, because the Courtesan is not really just a pretty face and the Captain of the Honor Guard can fall in love far too easily with a man of conviction - and Tony Stark is a man of conviction.

It all started when they stopped trusting each other.

“Billionaire, genius, engineer, philanthropist, submissive.  Yeah, submissive.  Any questions?”

Yet another BDSM-AU.

So Jarvis is the one who pulls her up onto her feet, presses a tool into one hand and a book into the other and tells her to create. Tells her that if the numbers and the shapes and images in her mind hurt so bad then she should build them, should give them form so that they can finally leave her alone.

Jarvis is the one who finally teaches her how to breathe.

Or

Toni Stark grows up with the tale of Icarus swirling in the back of her mind. Instead of taking it as a precautionary tale about hubris and overreaching she decides it’s more about the limitations of wax.

Years later when she builds herself wings of her own she makes sure to build them out of better material.

He’s The Captain?

This was not good. This was so not good.

There were theories of course, of what The Captain would look like. Most followed the typical Hollywoodesque belief that he was some version of the Godfather, sitting in a dark room with a cigar, commanding his forces with a flick of his wrist. There were even some that even thought that The Captain was not one person, but a whole network of people with eyes and ears everywhere.

The blonde Adonis in front of him was definitely not what Tony was expecting.

Of course, in the end it didn’t matter.

There was a reason no one knew what The Captain looked like.

Because anyone who saw his face never lived to tell the tale.

  • Sins of Omission by Kiyaar | E | 155k - WIP | dark, torture, skrulls (be warned: this hasn’t been updated since 2013)

A Post-Civil War, Pre-Secret Invasion AU where Steve is dead, Tony’s a mess, and everything sucks.

In which Tony deals poorly with Steve’s death, falls off the wagon, sees ghosts, and misses a lot.

Oh, and the Skrulls are about to invade.

When an experiment goes awry, Tony thinks he may have found an answer to his problems and Steve faces something he’s been avoiding for a very long time.

Two men. Two worlds. Life during wartime.

When Tony was a prince and Steve was his manservant, they were young and reckless and hopelessly in love. But an attack on Tony’s life convinces Steve that he can’t protect Tony, so he leaves in the dead of night to train until he can. Ten years later, Steve returns to the kingdom a strong and able knight, but his king is both furious and broken-hearted.

Tony is no stranger to paternity claims from his female conquests, there’s a system in place for them. But when one of the tests actually comes back positive, he makes a rash decision to not tell anyone about it, not even Pepper Potts. All Mary Parker wants is for Tony to spend a little time with their son. Tony has a lot to think about in his life now, how he wants to run his company, how his life is going to change with the arc reactor, and what he’s going to do about his son, Peter. Then, the Avengers Initiative pops up, and in waltzes his childhood hero, and enemy, Captain America.

The adventures of Tony as a mutant; how he learned to accept himself and his subsequent growth into his own. Hijinks ensue.

Keith/Lance Dynamic

Alright so the majority of anti-klancers that I’ve seen claim that they don’t like kl/ance because their relationship is “abusive.” I’m here to tell you all that this claim is complete and utter petty bullshit, and the relationship between Keith and Lance is completely healthy. I’m going to capitalize on their symbolic roles as fire and water, because it’s important to understanding their relationship and also I find it interesting as hell.

Let’s start from the beginning.

Right off the bat we can tell that these two don’t like each other. Or more like, Lance doesn’t like Keith and Keith literally does not care. He doesn’t even remember who Lance is at first.

See. Keith literally doesn’t care. He’s just there to rescue Shiro and doesn’t have any strong feelings towards the other three. For now.

As the episode progresses, however, we get to see more of Lance and Keith butting heads.

Keywords: Lance and Keith. A lot of anti-klancers like to say that Lance is the abuser in this situation, but fail to recognize that it’s mutual arguing. (so, y’know, casual colorism). And more importantly, nothing abusive is ever said between the two. They never rip on anything personal or get physical with each other. How you guys manage to pull “abuse” out from childish banter between rivals is the epitome of grasping at straws.

On to episode two.

Throughout this episode we get to see the dynamic between the two, and it’s literally like fire and water. They’re complete opposites and can’t help but rub each other in all the wrong ways.

Competing against the other to prove themselves.

Taking jabs at each other.

They make a really bad team don’t they?

But listen, that’s the point. Keep in mind how this dynamic fits into the theme of the episode. Five people are put together, seemingly at random, to become defenders of the universe. It’s not just Keith and Lance who are struggling. This episode is about all of them learning how to come together as a team. Lance and Keith are especially resistant to each other but that’s what makes their dynamic so gratifying. Fire and water naturally have a turbulent relationship, but by the end of this episode—and the series— we get to see them make real progress towards becoming a team!

Wow, two people who hate each others’ guts are smiling and laughing together, having a good time? Maybe that’s because they don’t actually hate each other. Their personalities (again, remember fire and water symbolism) don’t match, so they argue and resist each other. But if they really hated each other, this could never happen, and not to mention, they wouldn’t even be able to form Voltron if they truly hated each other.

From this point on, we know Lance and Keith do not actually hate each other. Now we really get to see their relationship develop.

Look at that they’re having a normal conversation. Almost as if they could stand each other. Keith’s face tooootally screams “I hate you Lance.”

And look at this: the two sitting next to each other and eating, even though they could literally sit in any chair they wanted to.

Aaaaaaany chair they wanted to. Any chair.

And when they’re celebrating with the Arusians:

This entire exchange is that between friends. No animosity whatsoever. Compare to episode one when they couldn’t even look at each other without scowling. More Progress!! They’ve come pretty far in learning to get along.

Speaking of getting along: And now the moment we’ve all been waiting for!! The Bonding Moment!

Keith goes to check on Lance (because, what?? he cares about Lance’s well-being? Yeah he does) and to help him up.

Except nope he just fucking kneels beside him and holds his hand.

And here you have it!! Lance fully and shamelessly admits that he cares about their relationship. He’s genuinely happy that they could work together and succeed, and he says this all while holding Keith’s hand.

Here have more of it!!! Keith as we already know is a man of few words. But he feels the same way as Lance. He’s also happy that they could work together as a team. Do these two guys, smiling and supporting each other, look like the faces of hatred and abuse? The exact opposite, actually.

Next episode and we’re confirmed way past the apathy of their first encounter.

Remember when Keith only cared about rescuing Shiro and didn’t want anything to do with Lance? Well look at him now. Look how impatient he is to see Lance get better. Allura has to scold him because he’s getting annoying about Lance.

commence pout.

And then we get this scene. We’re reminded that even though they do care for each other, they still have that competitive dynamic. They’re fire and water, so it’s only natural. Ah, rivalry.

More rivalry.

R…ival..ry?

At this point they’re competing to see who did the most for each other. It’s still a competition, but a strange, warm kind of rivalry. And they don’t even notice.

And then Lance got played by Nyma and the team has to go rescue his gullible ass. Let’s take a look at Keith.

Does this look like the face of hate??

Does it look like these two hate each other in any way shape or form??

They’re bantering—of course they are—but it’s playful banter. Look at how much fun they have teasing each other. Where do you see abuse in this?

And then in the Balmera these two actually work together. Without arguing.

Keith is even smiling at this development!

Look how far they’ve come!! Remember when I said their fire and water dynamic was important? Here’s why:

Fire and water are opposites. Lance and Keith are opposites. Their relationship is rocky and they don’t always get along—as we see at the very beginning—but we get to witness their monumental development from being the opposites who couldn’t stand being in the same room together to the opposites who compliment each other and when they work together, make a really good team.

That’s the beauty of symbolism and rivalry, people. They might bicker and get on each others’ nerves sometimes, but it’s undeniable that they’ve formed a strong bond and do care about each other.

You don’t find the rivalry dynamic interesting? Fine. You don’t interpret any of this as romantic? That’s cool, too. But to say Lance and Keith hate each other, that their relationship is abusive, is obscenely far from the truth and trivializes the trauma that real abuse survivors have suffered through. Real abuse is disturbing and damaging. Competition between companions is not. You can have your reasons for not shipping klance but stop with the abuse bullshit, because it’s insensitive and completely unfounded.
