John was kind enough to sign my painting at Leakycon- thanks John! It’s so awesome to share my art with you in real life. Anyway I hope you’re feeling better soon and that your extreme case of tiny chicken disease isn’t getting you too down

Note: I put another version of this on tumblr ages ago but in case you didn’t see that, this is a nerdfighter/harry potter fanart based on the UK book cover of harry potter and the philosopher’s stone

So, My friend and I just ordered Olive Garden under the name Castiel Winchester. They labeled our cups Dean and Castiel, sent us a drawing of a Devils Trap, and even included an extra set of silverware labeled “for Sammy”. Not to mention they gave us three mints. ;) SOMEONE BACK THERE IN THE KITCHEN UNDERSTOOD!!!! I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO HAPPY!!! :D

can we appreciate that Harry Potter is just the fandom that keeps on going

we’ve had the books themselves, but when they ended we still had the movies,

and then when the movies ended, we still had the musical series,

and then when AVPSY happened, there was still Pottermore,

and then with Pottermore’s slow start, we got the Wizarding World

and then with the Wizarding World doing expansions, we got news on Fantastic Beasts,

and then with that in production, we get legit harry potter canon update

AMONGST all this have been more parodies, fan films, wizard rock, LeakyCon and other conventions, an Alliance of charity workers, other snippets from JK Rowling

While we move on with other parts of our lives, this is always there just under the surface, never really going away.

We are a generation that are with Harry until the very end.

We are the Fandom that Lived.

Today we are introducing a brand new feature set to debut at LeakyCon 2014!

Presenting the Ask Box, a real in-person room representing your Tumblr Ask Box, that geeky haven of Q&A!

The Tumblr Ask Box will feature a lineup of special guests who will hit the hot seat for ten minutes of rapid-fire questions and answers. There are seven Ask Box sessions scheduled during LeakyCon, but here is the twist: we aren’t going to tell you who is slated for each session. Life at LeakyCon is like your Tumblr dashboard: you never know what you’re gonna get!

There are two ways to submit questions for Tumblr Ask Box sessions. During LeakyCon, send in questions that you think any of our guests could answer (the more fun / silly / interesting the better!) via the LeakyCon Ask Box (at leakycon.tumblr.com/ask) and use the tag #AskBoxLive.

Or you can simply be present at one of these sessions and jump up and down in front of the moderator’s face during the very few minutes devoted to live Q&A in each session.

We’re excited to be working with Tumblr to bring you this exciting addition to LeakyCon. We hope you’ll have as much fun with it as we have dreaming it up!

Melissa Anelli, co-founder of GeekyCon, LeakyCon and BroadwayCon, and our resident Potter expert and theoretician, will be taking part in Tumblr’s AnswerTime on Friday, July 17, starting at 12pm Eastern / 9am Pacific!

GeekyCon is around the corner and we are busy making this, our seventh annual fandom celebration, the best yet! We’d also like to share a little peek behind the scenes at how GeekyCon is working to improve fan culture through fun, silly, charitable, community-driven events.

Click the photo above or click here to start leaving your questions. We can talk about fan culture, the GeekyCon/LeakyCon/BroadwayCon experience, or even just the awesomeness of one Mr. Ronald Weasley (BECAUSE HE DESERVES IT).

Let’s geek out!

Snape: Not The Hero We Deserve

Snape has largely been considered a heroic character within the Potter fandom, with apologists going so far as to suggest that he did nothing wrong. However, anyone who reads the books with a critical eye knows that Severus Snape, one of the most well-written and interesting characters of the series, was a complete toolshed. This panel, which will be open to screaming and boos from the audience, is designed to separate impressions of Snape’s value as a literary character from his values as a person within the books.
