Some creatures use camouflage as a form of self-defense, but non are able to replicate an object as well and as diversely as a Leaf-mimic Katydid. No two of these insects are ever the same, they can look like leave that have been chewed on, dried out, covers by funny, rotten, you name it. This makes it incredibly difficult for animals to prey on them, because they can’t search for the same thing twice, it’s always different. And it’s not just their predators that get fooled, scientists also get confused by these creatures, sometimes “discovering” new species. #EvokeCuriosity
