Lawren Harris used elements from this painting depicting an isolated mountain in Banff National Park, in the Canadian Rockies, to create the larger canvas titled Isolation Peak, Rocky Mountains, also on view in the exhibition. While this oil sketch shows an actual location, the larger painting combined elements of several sites, including Mont des Poilus.
