lavender layers

my first spell jar!! i made this to help my sister sleep, because she often has trouble with nightmares and such.

-sea salt
-lavender {i used the leaves, not the flowers}
-rosemary {i used both fresh and dried}
-bay leaves
-small piece of paper + pen

-blue thread {to bind the paper + decorate jar}
-blue wax to seal
-lavender oil

i layered the ingredients, with each layer i focused on my intent to help sophie. i drew a sigil for a peaceful sleep on the paper in blue pen, and then rolled it up and tied it with the blue thread. i also carved the sigil in the wax i sealed the jar with, and then rubbed some lavender oil on it to bless it, and create a soothing scent. hope you like.

this is my very first spell jar and i hope it helps my sister!💙

“No More Nightmares” jar.

I was asked to do a anti-nightmare bottle, which is something that I have for periods of weeks on end sometimes, that keep me from sleeping well because I have that many nightmares (it’s literally either amazing sleep or no sleep because nightmares for me.)

So, first I want to say, this is 100% not a replacement for medical or professional help, never ever take it as this.

I also want to give some other tips along with the bottle to help with nightmares for me–

  • If I find myself having nightmares a few nights in a row, I strip my bed completely and wash everything, including pajamas (this was a tip given to me by @thistletongue I believe!)
  • ground yourself and center yourself (how to do these things here and here) sometimes you really need to get yourself all back together to sleep well. I also 100% recommend this after doing any kind of spells or anything that’s going to take your energy.

Okay! On to the bottle! I am going to give a list of what I used in mine, and a few additional things you can add or use in place of things if you don’t have them!

None of these things should be difficult to find, I had almost everything in my spice rack, and what I didn’t I picked up for only a little over $1 at the grocery!

  • sea salt - for protection
  • rosemary - for sleep, protection, and mental power
  • spearmint - for sleep protection
  • chamomile - purification and sleep
  • cloves - drives away negativity

Other –

  • thyme - for a dream free sleep (if you are like me and would rather just not have any dreams, rather than have nightmares)
  • lavender - peaceful sleep

Each layer you do, focus your intent for what each represents.Take your time, speak it out loud if it helps you. It helps me to speak out loud, over and over until I feel like I am sure.

Remember, there is power in your words! Speak those words and that intent into the universe!

After you’re finished, cork your bottle, and seal it with wax if you’d like! I used a blue wax because it is a color I associate with calmness and peaceful sleep.

After, focus on the whole bottle and the purpose of it– to ward away nightmares and to have a peaceful, sound sleep. I find it helpful when going to bed, to sort of envision forming a light, white energy bubble sort of thing around me, sort of protecting me from negativity and nightmares.

I would sleep with the bottle (given it was a small one like the one I made) in my pillowcase, opposite of the side I sleep on, if not, somewhere close like on a nightstand should do just fine!

If nightmares continue, I would cleanse my home, and definitely talk to your doctor about it. Sleep is very important, and shouldn’t be sacrificed!

Sleep well, babies!

Protection and Happiness Jar Spell

Well hi guys, i made this spell jar to help myself be happier and not let others get to me. i hope you enjoy it.

  • salt(protection)
  • lavender(protection)
  • clove(dispel negativity)
  • light blue candle(happiness)
  • happiness sigil (if you dont have one you can use mine below)
  • yellow string(happiness)
  • rose quartz
  • jar

Light the blue candle and write out your sigil. Tie the sigil with the yellow string and place in jar. Layer salt, lavender buds and clove (it does not need to fill jar). Seal with blue wax and let sit next to rose quartz under the moon for a few hours to charge.

My happiness sigil:

Think of Me Love Spell

Have a crush? So do I! I hung out with them all day today as this little spell brewed in my head, but as soon as I got home and my heart continued to flutter I knew I needed to cast it.

You will need:

❥ One jar

❥ Dried rose petals

❥ Dried lavender buds

❥ A red candle

❥ Honey and/or Rose Water

❥ A square of paper

❥ A pen

❥ Any powders you like to use. I used Come To Me, Fast Luck, Love Drawing and some gold pigment

❥ Any oils that call you. I used rose, vanilla and honeysuckle

Begin by tearing all the edges of your paper so none are “sharp” and have been touched by you. Write your crushes name three times going one direction, then turn the paper 90 degrees clockwise. Write your own name three times over their name. Next, without picking up your pen, write ‘Think of Me’ in a single circle around the names. Cross your Ts and dot your Is only after the circle has been complete. Press a kiss to the paper. Fold it towards you. Turn it clockwise. Press a kiss, fold it towards you, turn it clockwise– Repeat until you can no longer fold it.

Next, layer a bed of roses in your jar. Place the paper on top of them as well as any powder or oils you want to use. Sprinkle on some lavender buds, then layer on another round of roses. Pour in your rose water or honey at this point if you are using it. If you are using both like I did, do not use much of the water. I used 1/5 water, 4/5 honey. Seal your jar.

Light your candle thinking of lighting the flame of your love. Melt it in a way to seal your jar, dripping it all over the top and down the edges. After, if your jar can take a candle on top of it, allow the candle to burn safely on the top of your jar. If it cannot, snuff the candle and use it at a later date.

I plan on recoating my jar every Sunday, Monday and Friday, but do whatever feels natural to you! Good luck– I’ll be thinking of you~

Butterfly Jar Spell

This spell was inspired by a butterfly wing pendant that I recently bought! This was created to help transformation and personal growth. All of the herbs were picked for their associations with cleansing, purification, and growth. Many thanks to @spiritvexer for helping me come up with the statements!

  • Jar
  • Seeds
  • Rosemary
  • Thyme
  • Lavender
  • Chamomile
  • Various Flower Petals
  • A Statement for the Butterflies

First, clean out the jar and make sure that it is completely dry before adding in the materials. Put a thin layer of lavender on the bottom of the jar, and cover that with the rosemary and thyme. Next, add in the thyme and chamomile.

Add in the seeds to symbolize growth and the caterpillar that the butterfly once was, and the flower petals at the very top to represent the butterflies themselves. The last thing to add in can be a slip of paper (optional) with a statement written for or about the butterflies. Here are some example statements that you can use:

  • “I honor the Monarch for its migration and how it shows us travel is required for growth and survival”
  • “I honor the American Snout butterfly for the long journeys that it takes to grow and change”
  • “ I honor the [insert species here] for it’s ability to adapt to it’s environment and remain strong and resilient”
Summer Fruit & Berry Wedding Cakes

When the orchards are bursting with summer produce, why not add some fruit to your wedding cake?

Blueberry & Cream

Much like strawberry shortcake, this simple fruit and cream wedding cake is a delectable conclusion to a summer wedding day. Each sponge cake layer is topped with whipped cream, blueberries and a light dusting of powdered sugar. Just remember that whenever you have a dessert with whipped cream or delicate frosting, that you keep it out of the heat at a summer wedding.

Lemon & Raspberry

When searching for berry wedding cakes, look for tried and true flavor combos. Lemon and raspberry complement each other well. Rather than using a heavier buttercream, this cake calls for a meringue frosting to bring out the delicate taste of the raspberries.

Strawberry Shortcake

Desserts do not get more summery than classic strawberry shortcake. This wedding-ready version uses sponge cake instead of scones or biscuits to hold layers of fluffy whipped cream.

Blueberry & Lavender

A sweet blueberry filling is sandwiched between three layers of lavender cake underneath this dessert’s watercolor-inspired swirls of buttercream frosting. Wouldn’t this be a fantastic choice for a cutting cake?

Cherries & Cream

Like a trifle surrounded by ladyfingers, Cherry Charlotte is such a special dessert. End the evening with slices of this dessert and red wine or coffee.

Strawberry & Rhubarb

A mousse cake like this one is better for indoor summer receptions because of its delicate texture. The cool pattern on top is created with thin slices of pretty rhubarb.

Plum & Blueberry

Rustic wedding? If you are planning a dessert table filled with pies and tarts, you might want to add this simple charmer to the list. Featuring dark plums and blueberries, this upside down cake is easy to serve.

Lemon & Lime

Brides that appreciate a great margarita will love this fruity summer wedding cake. A citrus layer cake topped with a tequila lime frosting, this tasty baked good would be right at home at any warm-weather wedding.

Raspberry & Champagne

Searching for a showstopping bridal shower dessert? Use a Victorian tradition of “cake pulls” inside of a raspberry champagne cake. Fortune telling charms are attached to ribbons. Each guest selects their ribbon and the corresponding charm is revealed when the cake is cut.

Blueberry & Ginger

Angel food cake is a favorite nostalgic dessert, and is used especially at vintage and retro events. Give this lovely cake a splash of extra flavor with a blueberry ginger compote.

Blackberry & Chocolate

Want a more traditional wedding cake? Berry wedding cakes can also be moody and glam. This stunning woodland wonderland-themed cake features handfuls of blackberries dotting layers of chocolate buttercream.

Fig & Blackberry

This luxurious topper is a beautiful combination of figs and blackberries, all with a drizzling of decadent chocolate sauce.

HI!!! :D I just wanted to know how did you made the fabric to do that wavy-thing at the end on your twillight dress? Cuz its not the first time that I see a dress doing that and I've always been facinated by it. Btw, that dress is a-may-fucking-zing!

First of all thank you!! I achieved the wavy effect using two different methods, depending on which fabric type I was working with: horsehair braid for the top layer of lavender satin, and beading thread (or fishing line) + a rolled him for the lower layer of dark purple organza.

Top layer: Horsehair braid – This can be bought at most fabric stores and is amazing for getting clean hems on circle skirts. If the circle has a lot of fabric in it, you end up with that wavy effect when it drapes! It’s better for medium/heavy fabric like satins, cottons, etc., and not good for lightweight or sheer fabrics. I used this tutorial to learn how to install it properly.

Bottom layer: rolled hem with beading thread or fishing line – For lightweight fabrics like the dark purple organza I used here, a rolled hem is the way to go! Do yourself a favor and pick up a rolled hem foot for your machine, since folding and pinning the organza manually is a nightmare. You have a few options with the hem, depending on how dramatic of a wave you want:

  • Rolled hem with no wire or line = soft drape with minimal structure and will lie more flatly against your skirt
  • Rolled hem with beading thread = soft waves without a ton of structure (this is what I did!)
  • Rolled hem with fishing line = dramatic waves, like the sort of thing you see on flamenco dresses

There are lots of great tutorials on YouTube for how to do the fishing line hem - essentially you just super carefully feed the line into the hem as you sew, so that the line is encased.

Hope that helps~!

Lore: Attributed by some to Hecate, Saturn, and snake goddesses. It is also attractive to elves

Magical Uses: Magickal uses include love, protection, healing, sleep, purification, and peace. Promotes healing from depression. Great in sleep pillows and bath spells. Believed to preserve chastity when mixed with rosemary. Burn the flowers to induce sleep and rest, then scatter the ashes around the home to bring peace and harmony. Use in love spells and sachets, especially those to attract men.

Lavender is masculine in action and associated with Mercury, the element of air and the astrological sign Virgo.

It may be used as an asperging herb (to sprinkle water for purification purposes) and dried lavender sticks or wands can be burnt like incense.

It is also useful in spells to sharpen the mind, to encourage or strengthen pure love and to encourage fertility.

Lavender in the home brings peace, joy and healing.

Lavender is an excellent meditation herb. Burning lavender incense during meditation can help you to relax, open your mind, and free yourself.

Dried lavender leaves are great for placing into mojo bags, stuffed animals, or sewn into pillows to aid in sleep. This is a great idea for anyone who perhaps suffers from nightmares, as lavender is a protection herb that helps to ward off negative energies. Lavender can also heighten your psychic senses. Using it in conjunction with an amethyst stone during ritual may help you achieve a higher level of innate psychic ability.

It is thrown onto the Midsummer fires by Witches as a sacrifice to the ancient gods.

Depression Incense Recipe:

2 parts lavender

1 ½ parts St. John’s Wort

1 part Catnip

1 part Vervain

1 part Jasmine

Burn as an incense to rid yourself of depression, burn in a ritual to heal depression, use in a sachet and wear to fight depression. Also can be used in a ritual bath to cleanse self of depression. Has a very calming scent.

Healing Attributes: Lavender has been used for centuries as an herbal remedy, and does indeed appear to have antiseptic, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-convulsive, and last but certainly not least - anti-depressant properties.  Either fresh or dried flowers contain the medicinal properties of Lavender.

Internally, Lavender is believed to be of benefit for a multitude of problems, including stress, anxiety, exhaustion, irritability, headaches, migraines, insomnia, depression, colds, digestion, flatulence, upset stomach, liver and gallbladder problems, nervousness, loss of appetite, and as a breath freshener and mouthwash.  Inhaling the essential oil in some cases has been reported to work as well as narcotics for inducing relaxation and sleep, easing symptoms of depression, and reducing headache pain.  For inhalation purposes, boil 2 cups of water, add 2 drops of essential oil, and inhale the steam.

The scent of lavender is relaxing and uplifting all at once making it a great aromatherapy for stressed out or depressed individuals. Try adding some lavender oil to your bath or add it to a mild oil for a relaxing massage at the end of a hard day. Lavender is an excellent aromatic, usually mixing well with other floral scents.

Stuffing a pillow with lavender buds may help insomniacs relax and fall asleep and soothes headaches.

Mild infusions (3 tablespoons to 6 cups of water) make a good sedative, headache treatment, and digestive aid. Used in oil or tincture form to heal cuts, burns or scalds, and bites. This also acts as a tonic and may be used for colds, chills, and the flu.

Externally, Lavender oil is one of the safest essential oils and can be used full-strength on the skin.  It works wonderfully and can be applied directly for cuts, scrapes, wounds, burns, bee, wasp, and insect stings, rashes, muscle aches, rheumatism, arthritis, cold sores, canker sores, blisters, bruises, athlete’s foot, and rubbed directly into the temples in case of headache or migraine.

Household Use: Lavender deters fleas and moths. Place sachets of lavender buds or lavender wands in cupboards and closets or stuff them into pet bedding to help deter pests from these areas. Also put sachets of lavender in your dryer to scent your laundry. These can be reused several times

Culinary Use: Lavender is a good addition to wedding cakes because of its delicate flavor and its association with love and fertility.

To make lavender flavored sugar, layer dried lavender buds and sugar in a jar and let it sit in a dark place for about a month. Sift out the lavender buds and enjoy your sugar in delicately flavored cakes, custards and tea.

Lavender is excellent in teas for relaxation, digestion and love.

I really wanted a Scentsy Buddy (a plush with a zipper for scent packs)... but they have a plush supporting Autism speaks. :( My favorite sensory thing is plush things and smells... any ideas?

As far as I’m aware, only sales of that plush contribute towards A$. However, if you don’t want to touch a company that has any connection with A$, I absolutely do not blame you - it’s all about our individual comfort level, and we have the right to feel good about the stim toys we buy.

I do have ideas, though, about DIY alternatives, and @pink-rainbow-sparkles and @thesensorybox have posted on very good alternatives available in Australia and New Zealand.

If you don’t want a weighted plush, the simplest solution is to literally drop essential oils on a plushie/soft toy you already own. Some essential oils like lemongrass are yellow-tinted and will stain; other essential oils, like lavender, tea tree or peppermint, are clear and won’t stain. (I’ve been dropping lavender on my pillow at night, to help me sleep, for four or five years. You wouldn’t know it to look at my pillow or pillow case.) If you want to change the scent, wash the toy and add a new oil. (My pillow case does not smell of lavender after machine washing, and I use fragrance-free laundry powder.)

If you want more info on which essential oils don’t stain, I’ll gladly go through my oil collection and swatch test them for you, but I’ve been dropping lavender oils on my weighted soft toys to refresh their scent and there is absolutely no staining. None. Do use pure essential oils and not oils blended with a carrier oil, though, or else you might make your toy tacky or greasy to touch.

(Note: I have no idea about the stainability of perfume/fragrance oils when dripped on fabric, because I don’t use them. Can anyone advise on this?)

The other options involve using weighted heat bags inside a plush animal case, very similar to the Scentsy toys. These toys are a cover designed to contain a rice or wheat bag that you remove, microwave and then replace, so they’re ideal for the switchable scent pack function.

@thesensorybox wrote this post on how to find them in K-Mart stores; @pink-rainbow-sparkles wrote this post on how they use their unicorn, also from K-Mart. There’s several different ones listed on K-Mart’s website, $9 AUD. Big W, another Australian department store, also has several different kinds, also $9 AUD. The bunny looks really cute!

I checked out Amazon, but I was having trouble finding toys with the removable pouch, since that is part of the function we want here. I’d recommend checking out your local department store. If you’re in the Northern Hemisphere, it may be harder to find these as you’re moving out of cold weather. My local department stores, albeit with less stock, did have them throughout the summer just gone, so I’d consider it worth a look.

If you want the switchable scent pack function, for different scents, you’ll likely need to make or buy packs of a similar size to swatch them out, and either scent those packs with essential oils or fill them with a scented filler (dried herbs, lavender heads) in addition to stuffing or something weighted (rice, seeds, grains, soup mix, dried beans, poly pellets). You can scent rice very easily by tossing it in a container (an old ice-cream tub works well) and adding a few drops of oil, and I’ve scented plastic poly pellets the same way with no problems. I’ve also mixed poly/soft toy stuffing with dried lavender heads with no problems, just by layering: one layer of stuffing, one layer of lavender, etc.

The wheat packs, if you make several, are no different from a bean bag (two tutorials linked on this post). Cut two pieces of fabric the size of the bag inside the toy (usually a rectangle or a square), sew or glue up three edges, fill with scented rice or wheat or weighted pellets (if you’re not going to heat it, it doesn’t matter what you use) and sew or glue closed the fourth edge, making a sealed-shut pocket. Since it goes inside the toy, it doesn’t even have to be neat - just keep your stitches small enough that the inside filler can’t come out. The seams can be as messy as you like!

You can also refresh this pouch with a few drops of essential oil, and because it goes inside the toy, you can even use those oils that stain, as you won’t see the inner pouch.

If you don’t mind rustling plastic, you could even use several ziplock bags to contain the scented filler. I’d recommend using the thinner, cheaper kind, as the smell of the oil will seep through the plastic more easily. (I never find one ziplock bag to contain scent all that well, but the cheaper ones are much worse at it, which is what we want!)

Either way, it’s a little involved if you want to have the multiple scent options. Just dripping a toy with essential oils is the easiest, but it will still involve the purchase of several oils. (This said, oils last a long time and you can use them for scented necklaces, slimes, burning in oil burners, bean bags, personal care, cleaning…) The heat-up pocket plush toy will require sewing or gluing, and the purchase of fabric (or ziplock bags), bag fillers and oils. I can’t find a way that’s less complicated, because I don’t think perfumes and body sprays will last as long as essential oils, in terms of the filler or plush toy holding the scent.

If anyone has any suggestions, or a supplier for something similar that isn’t Scentsy, by all means, suggest away!

ETA: @ninjacacti says,

a good scent thing that isn’t oils are tea bags! they never stain and last a super long time I have a little pocket I’ve sewn on teddy bear that sits in my bed with a tea bag in it and it works great! if you can’t sew or just don’t like it you can get Velcro or just glue

Oh, very cool thought! It’d be so easy to remove and replace different tea bags from the heat bag soft toys! Thank you!

ETA the second: @2hon5 says,

Also, if you don’t have the spoons or motor function to sew or glue your own bean/rice bags, you can use those little zipper wallets. Just make sure the zipper is entirely plastic (no metal) if you’re going to microwave it. If you can’t find one like that, you can always use a sock and fill it up, tie it off, microwave it, and put it in the plushie.

I bow before your genius. Seriously. Very, very good suggestions. Especially the sock one, because that’s so simple and accessible. Thank you.

Part 3:

Eight years ago:

Aelin took a breath. And incinerated the trees around her.

Rowan’s power rose and swallowed the fire, leaving charred marks on the trees.

“How dare you. How dare you talk down to me. How dare you go behind my back?”

The image of all those rebellious lords nodding at Rowan’s every word flashed across her mind. The lords she had spent almost a two years trying to rally, without success.

Rowan standing, to her shock, and calmly stating every single detail of his plans, as if she were not there.

She had just sat there, mouth open, as he spoke. The sting of it it had nearly paralyzed her. Then anger had overtaken her.

Fandom: MCU
Characters: Bucky Barnes x female!reader
Warnings: Kind of boring first chapter but BEAR WITH ME DRAMA AND PLOT WILL BE UP AHEAD IN COMING CHAPTERS
Word Count: 1,463
Requested: No
Short Description: Your father is running to be the state senator of New York City. James Barnes, your childhood nemesis, is an egotistical playboy who is the son of your father’s opponent. The both of you plan to make your fathers’ campaigns living hell together.

Disclaimer: not my gif, I have never seen “Political Animals”, which I know Sebastian Stan appears in as an important character, so this isn’t based on Political Animals

[Y/N] = your first name
[Y/L/N] = your last name
[Y/F/N] = your father’s name

Your hands smoothed down the skirt of the dress your father had laid out for you and frowned at your reflection. The dress was beautiful, but the high collar made you feel suffocated and they clashed with the shoes you had bought for this evening in particular. So – disappointing your father as you often did fashion-wise – you took the dress off and rummaged through your wardrobe to look for something better.

Your father, Senator Y/L/N was in the middle of his campaign to be re-elected as State Senator of New York, and tonight would be his first of many galas featuring one of his many famous speeches, entertainment and a huge donation to a charity from your father himself. He was hoping to be re-elected for the first time, and as a State favourite, you didn’t doubt that he could do it.

His opponent, however, was anything but a weak opponent. George Barnes had his own business empire and had been hinting at an interest in politics for years. He had been acquainted with your father for years, and his son Bucky was the same age as you. George Barnes was a very tough opponent, having a degree from Dartmouth College with a major in business and a minor in politics. He was involved in many events in New York especially and donated a lot to charities.

The successor to his business empire was James Buchanan Barnes, more commonly known as Bucky. Bucky Barnes was basically your childhood nemesis.

At first, you hadn’t minded Bucky. In fact, up until high school, you were friendly with one another, until everything started to become serious. You both went to the same prestigious private school, where there were more AP classes than you could count and everyone had rich parents who gave money to the school. Nobody had any advantages, except perhaps you and Bucky.
