The Dream is Now tells the stories of undocumented youth and their families who are desperate to earn their citizenship in the only country they’ve ever called home. The film will premiere this month in Washington DC then screen on college campuses and in communities across the country to raise awareness of the urgent need to reform America’s immigration laws.

If you are interested in having a screening in your community, please email: film@thedreamisnow.org.

The time is right. The choice is real. The Dream is Now!

Steve Jobs and Laurene Powell met in a classroom at Stanford University in 1990, where he was lecturing and she was finishing an MBA. They exchanged phone numbers, but didn’t make plans. Later, in the parking lot, he had a revelation. He was on his way to meet colleagues—even had his key in the car—but, as Jobs told a New York Times reporter, “I thought to myself, if this is my last day on earth, would I rather spend it at a business meeting or with this woman?” He ran across the parking lot and asked her to dinner. They were married a year later, in Yosemite National Park, with a Zen Buddhist monk presiding.

Meet Laurene Powell Jobs - The Daily Beast

These are two of my favorite photos of Steve Jobs. The top one I first saw in Walter Isaacson’s book. It was taken in 1997 in their backyard in Palo Alto. I love how happy they look. The second one was taken after Steve’s WWDC keynote in June 2011. It was his last Apple keynote. When I look at this photo, I wonder if he knew.

It’s hard for me to believe it’s been two years since he died. I still miss him a lot.

I was in the parking lot with the key in the car, and I thought to myself, ‘If this is my last night on earth, would I rather spend it at a business meeting or with this woman?’ I ran across the parking lot, asked her if she’d have dinner with me. She said yes, we walked into town and we’ve been together ever since.

"We didn't know much about each other twenty years ago. We were guided by our intuition; you swept me off my feet. It was snowing when we got married at the Ahwahnee. Years passed, kids came, good times, hard times, but never bad times. Our love and respect has endured and grown. We've been through so much together and here we are right back where we started twenty years ago - older, wiser - with wrinkles on our faces and hearts. We now know many of life's joys, sufferings, secrets and wonders and we're still here together. My feet have never returned to the ground."

- A note from Steve Jobs to his wife Laurene Powell on their twentieth anniversary.

GUESS WHO'S STILL AN IDIOT?

Donald Trump did this tweet today.

I’m with you, Donald. LET’S get this right!

This is a super annoying tweet.

When Donald Trump dies & leaves his wife “everything-billions of dollars” she straight-up better not even THINK about looking at another guy, because he OWNS HER. From beyond the grave. I had no idea a husband could pre-purchase a lonely future for his widow? 2Kute!

ALSO, sidenote, the brackets in the bit “boyfriend (lover)” are totally creepy.

Steve Jobs's Love Letter to Wife Laurene Powell

As recited to biographer Walter Isaacson. Jobs was said to have cried uncontrollably after the recitation.

We didn’t know much about each other twenty years ago. We were guided by our intuition; you swept me off my feet. It was snowing when we got married at the Ahwahnee. Years passed, kids came, good times, hard times, but never bad times. Our love and respect has endured and grown. We’ve been through so much together and here we are back to where we started 20 years ago–older, wiser–with wrinkles on our faces and hearts. We now know many of life’s joys, sufferings, secrets and wonders and we’re still here together. My feet have never returned to the ground.

Icon of the Week: Laurene Powell

Laurene Powell looks exactly like the most popular girl you worshipped when you were in a freshman in high school. The kind of girl that everyone whispered about when she passed by them in the hallway, whose personal life was public mythology.

She graduated from UPenn undergrad, and then got her MBA at Stanford Business School. She runs a number of foundations, and sits on a number of boards. I’ll just let you read her Wikipedia if you’re interested in more.

She also happens to be married to Steve Jobs.

You know that guy, Steve Jobs? What a jerk! He has never ever donated one dollar! Luckily, his wife did.

Anonymously.

PS: Jokes aside, I love rich humble people, that don’t care about making their donations public. I’d bet Steve Jobs actually contributed a lot, but hated to be in the spotlight. Most probably, he preferred to be seen as the bad guy in the industry.
