laura friendly

Bitter Sunday: Tony helping Clint's family fix stuff around the house, because they were nice to him and keep being nice to him and say please and thank you. Meanwhile Clint is out avenging again, and Tony is taking his "consultant" role very literally (at least until the next *serious* attack) because that's all he does and they're reluctant or arrogant enough not to consult him a lot anyway. But Clint's family needs someone to fix the car, so he helps. For free. For a thank you.

Wow, I got this before I even had the chance to ask for anything. I love it! :D (Mostly I’m just really enjoying this bitter Sunday thing and love that you guys are on board with it) Okay, back to business now (though this didn’t turn out very bitter, more just happy!Tony and not much else)

Tony can’t really say no. Not when Laura calls him, sounding as tired as he feels on his worst days, baby Nate crying in the background. Especially not when Rhodey made him promise to not lock himself away in the workshop until the next worldwide alien invasion.

So he comes over on a Saturday afternoon–and if he checked with FRIDAY that Clint would be occupied elsewhere, well, that’s just common sense. Things have been tense between them ever since the airport fight, and Tony’s tired of having the same argument again and again, with no sign of a resolution.

He’s greeted by Lila running up to meet him with wide smile–there’s a tooth missing there, that she’s very proud off–and something tense dissolves in his chest. Laura sends him a relieved smile, shows him the car, in between the thousand and one ‘Thank you’s Tony tries valiantly to wave off.

The afternoon is spent repairing the car, which goes slower and is a lot more fun than Tony expected. Because Cooper is eager to help him, curiously asks question after question and runs happily around, searching for the tools Tony needs. Laughing and talking excitedly about his science project and how Nathaniel has learned how to throw his food around and how Lila doesn’t like dresses anymore because she wants to be a superhero when she grows up, and kicking villains’ butts is easier in pants. When they’re finally finished, Cooper is whooping and high fives Tony, so happy, pulls him into the house–and really Tony never stood a chance.

Of course Laura insists he stay over for dinner, as a (completely unnecessary) thank you. Lila has drawn a picture for Tony and Cooper keeps asking if he’ll please, please come visit again and. Tony is–overwhelmed, a little. Thankfully Laura notices, artfully distracts her children to give him a little breathing room. But he’s also strangely happy, hasn’t felt this light and welcome and appreciated in a long time.

He refuses to take Laura’s money of course. And maybe, maybe he’ll come by again. Soon. Laura’s dishwasher isn’t in the best of conditions anymore, after all.

[Bonus: There’s a poster of Iron Man hanging on Lila’s closet. A framed grade A for Cooper’s science project on his desk. A picture of Tony with an oddly panicked expression as he holds a giggling Nathaniel, who’s curiously patting his beard, hanging on the wall. Clint doesn’t understand.

Laura narrows her eyes, a barely noticeable movement.

“It’s been hanging there for four months, Clint,” she says. There’s a lot in those words she doesn’t say, and for the first time in a long while, Clint notices.]

If you have the time and inclination, I'd love to see the Avengers' reaction to learning Phil Coulson's alive (because they MUST know by now)... And especially your Laura Barton's reaction - what kind of fruit basket do you send to say "glad you're not dead, don't ever do that to us again"?

Laura sent him a fruit basket of whole pineapples (he was allergic) and a note that read Cooper cried all the way through your funeral, you bastard.

An unstamped postcard appeared in her mailbox a few days later– a generic glossy image of a Maine lighthouse on a high green bluff. No signature, but Phil’s square handwriting. My apologies for the inconvenience

She threw the card on the counter, grabbed the axe from the woodshed, and chopped firewood until her arms screamed, because if she was going to be in a fury she might as well make it a productive one.

Laura wasn’t Level Seven or above– she wasn’t any Level, technically, as according to SHIELD she didn’‘t technically exist these days– but she had friends in high places. Or low ones. It was a matter of perspective. She had found out about Phil Coulson before Clint, because Clint only broke rules because of his big heart and she’d always broken them because of her nosy mind.

She had called Clint immediately–before the fruit basket–to pass on the (good–she was furious, but it was good, it was good) news. Clint had said, “Oh,” in a great terrible relieved rush of air.

While the landline was passed among Lila and Cooper so they could chatter at their father, Laura had called Natasha on her cell. She’d said, “Oh,” too, but there was no rush of air, no exhale, no exclamation, because Natasha understood about resources, about conserving them, always had.

“I bet that’s where Melinda May went,” Natasha said. “But, anyway, how’d Lila’s recital go?“

Laura didn’t tell Tony, Steve, or Bruce, though she was tempted. But it would be petty, not kind, and she tried to cling to kindness by her ragged fingernails.

Phil used words like inconvenience when he meant pain. He said compromised when he meant possessed and involuntarily homicidal, when he meant lost. He was a man of euphemisms and Laura tried to roll with it– her son preferred sign to speech most days, her husband was a hard-of-hearing ex-carnie, her best friend was a slippery, sweet ex-child-soldier who carried all her cards and all her hurt close to her chest. Laura understood that no one spoke the same language and that part of loving someone was looking for what words meant in their hands.

"Apology not accepted, you prick,” she told him as soon as he picked up the phone. The friend of a friend who got her the number didn’t know or didn’t tell her where exactly Phil was, but a different friend of a different friend told her the mission, and another told her the coordinates. Laura was a friendly gal. She listened for ambient noise, hints of the crowded city she knew he was chasing uncanny phenomena in, and heard nothing.

“Which otherwise excellent employee of this agency did you coerce into betraying classified information this time?"

"Maybe one of your shiny new team,” she snapped. “Have you even spoken to Natasha, since, Phil? What the hell? What were you thinking?”

“We were thinking that without a united front, against Loki–”

Laura paced over the kitchen floor Clint had put in by hand during a chill autumn during which even the kids grew tired of take-out. “Did you think they’d only fight for you if you were dead? Did you not trust them to believe in the fight?”

“I understand you’re defensive of your husband–”

“I’m not angry for Clint’s sake,” she snapped, and Phil went quiet. “He gave a toast in your honor and came home to hold his children. He was always going to get through this.”

“Angry for yourself, then, Mrs. Barton? Laura, I never knew you cared."

"I send you fucking fruit baskets, don’t you even joke. You taught my kids how to whittle, you shut your undead fucking mouth, Phil. But it’s not even that. They were a bunch of squabbling petty children up there, weren’t they?” she said. “Clint doesn’t talk about that particular fight, but I’ve met them now, and I can imagine. Tony, lord. I get what you were trying to do. You were dumb, but I get it."

"Then why are you angry?"

"You should have trusted her.”

“Ah,” said Phil. “Romanoff."

"I get not trusting all the caped crusaders, not then, not yet, but you all keep leaving Natasha.” She clutched the cord of the phone in her hand, winding it around and around her palm. “You all keep leaving her, and not even having the decency to die."

"It was a delicate situation– Fury’s death even more than mine."

"And you think Natasha can’t handle delicate? She has been dying for you for years, and she hasn’t earned your trust yet? Phil, godamnit.”

“We thought she could handle it."

"She could. She did. She shouldn’t have to."

Laura strained to hear the ambient sounds under his silence, staring out the kitchen window at Cooper making rock towers and sandy canyons at the pond’s edge. She felt muffled, locked out, smothered with only the bare staticky sound of Phil’s voice making it over the line.

"I apologize for the inconvenience,” he said, and he said it softly.

Million Dollar Man

+Request: harry smut with harry as ur boss who’s been flirting with you and you’ve been teasing him a lot but u two haven’t had sex bc u know people would talk if they found out, but then he makes a really risky move that makes u change ur mind

A/N: Hey guys back with another imagine. I hope you guys like it because I worked super hard on this. I would love so much if you guys would leave feed back and tell me what you guys think of it. love you all and thank you!

This one shot I based a bit off of and even named it from the original song called Million dollar man by Lana Del Rey. Go check out the song its so good, one of my favorites by her.

Working with Harry wasn’t as bad as it all really seems. Yes he may be strict and yes he may yell a lot but I just know that when you have to work with people that sometimes are idiots and don’t wanna do their work it is hard not to come off as a prick. Harry was a very smart man, he knew what he was doing and how to really become successful. I’ve only been working with Harry for about 3 months, it isn’t that long for you to base your perspective off of someone you barely know. But all of that aside, I has a crush on my boss.

He is so tall and strong and beautiful long curly hair. I just wanna run my hands through his hair and hear him moan to how good it feels. But there are a lot of other things I wanna do to him to hear him moan. I just wanna crawl under his desk and pull down his pants and suck his cock. I wanna hear him moan out my name so loud and to place his hand on the back of my head and push me down farther. I wanna look up and stare at his face while this is going down and see him roll his eyes back in his head and plead for more. I want him to finish in my mouth and to feel his cum run down my throat. But hes my boss so it would never happen.

Show Me The Way Back Home Baby by  stilinskisparkles | 14.9K

In which Lydia and Jackson produce the world’s cutest baby, and the pack goes crazy– the good kind of crazy. Except for Derek, who is afraid of tiny cute babies and Stiles who plans to be the best Uncle ever. Even if Danny called dibs on Godfather.

I Do Do You? by  Captain_Loki | 6.5K

Stiles and Derek wake up hung over and married in a hotel room in Las Vegas. It wouldn’t be so bad if the year before their relationship hadn’t fallen apart.

i want to say all those things that would be better unsaid by  aeneapsych | 24.5K

Derek is a lonely professor who decides to call a phone sex line.

Stiles is a poor grad student who needs to make a living somehow.

“One night stands were never this good. Hell, his previous relationships were never this good. Derek was so screwed, but right now he didn’t care.”

Derelictions of Duty by  Regann | 10.8K

5 times a Beacon County Sheriff’s Office employee witnesses the unique relationship between Stiles and Derek but neglects to tell the Sheriff and 1 time he witnesses it for himself.

The Rest of Your Life by  paradis | 4.1K

“Seemed like a buttercream guy,” Stiles says innocently, and grabs two forks and pours two huge glasses of milk. They eat in silence and when Stiles finishes his mouth is filled with the too-sweet taste of peanut butter icing and chocolate cake, and he’s full, but he feels good, too. He stares at Derek, who’s licking his lips after his last bite of cake.
“I think I’m probably not straight,” he says suddenly.
And Derek says, “I ripped down the whole top floor of the house this morning thinking about Laura.”

Werewolf-Friendly by  badwolfbadwolf | 27.2K

Derek is a junior in college, never could get the hang of social interaction, and is, you know, a werewolf. A werewolf and a virgin. And it isn’t like anyone is banging down his door to hop on his werewolf dick, save for the few pervs who acted like he was some kind of exotic toy to be played with and experienced. So, when he sees Stiles’ ad on Hot Men 4 Rent, Derek is… interested.

Parallax by  uraneia | 10.5K

With the pack (and Stiles) starting college, Derek is bored. He needs a hobby–or a job. Which is how he comes to model for Alpha Studios.

He just never thought Stiles would end up working there too.

Convenient by  exclamation | 10.7K

Stiles knows what he is to Derek: convenient. He knows that Derek isn’t looking for a relationship, just someone to have casual sex with. Which is why Stiles is so surprised to find Derek setting up a romantic dinner for Valentine’s Day.

Wait by  cutloosemcgoose | 23.4K

Sitting on his couch, staring at the wall, it feels like Derek is watching his whole, miserable, lonely life flash before his eyes. He’s twenty four and he’s alone. No family, no friends, no real pack.

He’s six days away from spending one of the most family-oriented holidays of the year trying to avoid any human interaction. If anyone could see him right now, they would tell him he looks pathetic.

If Laura could see him right now, she would probably beat the crap of him and then tell him he’s a loser.

Little Wild Animal by  DiscontentedWinter | 61K

Derek Hale finds a feral human on his pack’s property.
Humans are supposed to be extinct.
But then, Stiles is full of surprises.

[From ask & fic]

You’re welcome! <3

What I really love about AU meets canon stories is how they can be a great catalyst for the characters to realize the feelings that were there all along, that they haven’t had the opportunity or the confidence to work through on their own yet. Just like in the first part –– how Derek was clearly attracted to Stiles but just as clearly hadn’t put too much thought into actually ever being with him until the idea pressed right in against him and begged for him to kiss it –– I think Stiles would have taken one look at a domestic Derek, a Derek who was in love with Stiles, a Derek who seemed attainable, and think holy shit, I could actually have this. And that would just change everything for him.

Because both of these boys have confidence issues high and heavy enough to choke on, and I don’t think it would have ever occurred to them that having each other was actually even an option.

So it wouldn’t ever be a matter of actually falling for the alternate versions of each other. They’d be pulled in by them, and by the idea of being with them, and of having some version of the thing they’ve finally allowed themselves to admit they wanted, but there would be things about the alternates that just felt wrong, didn’t quite fit. Edges faintly off like a skilled painting of their own version, rather than a photograph. Derek might kiss au!Stiles or vice versa, but he’s always thinking about, longing for, his own. (And of course, insecurities arise: “would my version ever actually want me? Maybe the other me is just that much better, maybe that’s why they got together and we didn’t, maybe this is the best I’m ever going to have, so even if it’s not perfect shouldn’t I try to savor it for a moment?”)

AU Sterek would have most likely met through the Sheriff and Laura. With Peter awake and still determined to seek revenge for the fire, Alpha or not, the younger Hales would be on a quest to stop him from killing seemingly random citizens. After a few failed attempts to track and subdue him, Laura would have remembered the Sheriff and how kind he was right after the fire, and decided to go to him for help. Derek hated the idea at first –– not wanting to trust outsiders, especially humans, especially humans with guns –– but he’d go along with it, and Stiles would be intrigued when he saw the long lost Hales appearing at his house or slipping into the station for secret conversations with his dad. AU!Stiles would have been pulled into the supernatural from the opposite end of the spectrum than he was in canon –– led in via his dad, who’d been brought in by the Hales –– and his dad would obviously try to keep him out of it but Stiles is Stiles and once he starts picking at a mystery there’s really no pulling him back from it.

He’d have probably ended up in Derek’s orbit looking for answers –– knowing his dad wouldn’t give him straight ones, and even though Derek was decidedly moodier and less friendly than Laura, he was also the one most likely to give Stiles the truth because he just didn’t seem to give a fuck. (Stiles would eventually realize that Derek did care, possibly too much, about everything, and the cold, snarking straight answers he gave were his way of making sure Stiles would be able to defend himself when the time came.)

So they would have bonded in a similar way to how they did in canon –– as sarcastic and seemingly grudging allies –– but the details of their dynamic would also be very different because they’d both be the “sidekicks” in this situation, taking a backseat to the commands of the Sheriff/father and the Alpha, but also fiercely protective and determined to do whatever it took to keep their loved ones safe. That probably would have led to them going rogue together at various points –– investigating leads on their own and possibly even confronting Peter or Kate (especially Kate, because Derek would want her as far from Laura as possible and Stiles would know his dad would act like a cop when it came to human hunters, and that might get him killed). Without Scott as a buffer and a source of bitterness between them (and without Derek shutting down further in grief over Laura and the weight of responsibility he had in canon) I think they would have bonded a lot faster, which would have allowed them to realize and act on their feelings, in a way they weren’t able to until much later in canon.

Started watching American Gods yesterday, and everyone’s pretty close to how I read them except Shadow is much much much more likeable as a person than I imagined.

Code July: Day 4 - Bonfire

This was slightly inspired by my days in high school when I was a part of my AFJROTC program and at the end of the year, there were usually these annual bonfires people celebrated at the beach and stuff. Ok, they didn’t really invite me to most of them but hey, I enjoy the idea of bonfires and spending time with friends…

…which leads to my not so secret desire to have these kids hang out and have some fun like jfc. I want these kids to bond over a stupid fire during a stupid beach trip and just relax. Even Laura. The kids being friendly with Laura rather than using her for the virus thing for even one day is good enough for me.

Tempt the Stars reread

Okay, it begins! Can’t believe after all this time I only have two books left (let’s just forget all the shorts and Dory books and novellas that I’m skipping, shhh). Anyway. First three chapters:

  • Ch1 - Another little peep into Cassie’s childhood, this time in the form of Laura the friendly ghost. You know what I really liked about Cassie and Laura’s little game of chase? The little childish code words, like ‘no fair fading’ and ‘no fading, no foolies’. These little rituals of play hint at the kind of vast imaginary worlds that kids build when they play together and it’s yet another small detail KC gets right. A lot of talented authors still struggle with writing children in a believable way and while we have seen KC write kids before (the Misfits mostly), I like this little touch, this reconfirmation that yup, she knows what she’s doing. Especially nice as I expect children will be playing a more and more important role in later books, what with the Initiates becoming a thing.
  • Ch2 - Two of my favourite things are Marlowe being an ass and big old screaming hints that Mircea is up to something, and this chapter’s got both. Of course, the problem with having reached the last two books and having read RtS already is that we’re now getting into the territory of plot lines that are going to be wrapped up in that book. So there’s going to be a lot of places where I’d like to say something, to speculate, but I can’t say much without spoiling anything. So, uh, I’m gonna shut my mouth here. Let’s all admire Billy being a badass instead. “It means choo-choo, motherfuckers.” I love him.
  • Ch3 - MORE of my favourite things - Marco being a motherhen, all 6″6 of him clucking around acting worried about Cassie and Fred, being his usual, eccentric self. I’m just so curious about Fred. My attitude towards him ranges from convoluted conspiracy theories about his secret agenda (I still like the idea that he’s actually Loki) to plain old enjoyment about the most ridiculous vampire in existence. He reminds me a whole lot of Cassie, with that super off-beat vibe he has? I’m just saying, if they turn out to be related, (Loki would technically be Cassie’s grandfather, right?) I called it. Either way, he’s a great foil for Cassie and I love how they play off each other.
    • One more thing about this chapter - the way Cassie blows off the witches and that parting line, “I’m not Agnes yet,” really foreshadows the more assertive Cassie who really comes to the fore as she handles this crisis with Pritkin.
