latin iii

hi everyone! my name is Olivia, and I’ll be starting high school in the fall. I’ve decided to create this studyblr to help motivate me and keep track of my studies throughout the year! I’ll be taking art, chemistry, english, geometry, history, and latin III.

I’ve been lurking in the community for a while, and these studyblrs really helped inspire me to create my own! @elkstudies @studyign @mochi-studies @studypetals @areistotle @tbhstudying @caffestudy @cmpsbls @universi-tea @intellectus @acadehmic @mintstudies

1. changeable in color:
    versicolor skies.

2. of various colors; parti-colored:
    a versicolor flower arrangement.

Versicolor comes from the Latin roots vers meaning “to turn” and color. It entered English in the 1620s.

“The versicolor glow of the Algeron Effect, just a few hundred thousand kilometers from the space station, angled through the viewing port and stippled the far wall.”
- David R. George III, Serpents Among the Ruins

My shoes inspired by the raven cycle.

“Blue tried not to look at Gansey’s boat shoes; she felt better about him as a person if she pretended he wasn’t wearing them.” -“The Raven King” Maggie Stiefvater

“Right after he spoke, Blue threw her arms tightly around his neck. Right after he spoke, she pressed her face into the side of his. Right after he spoke, she held him like a shouted word. Love, love, love.

He fell quietly from her arms.

He was a king.”

-The Raven King

Almost gave up today during my first block of teaching (2nd block).  I had games planned (mythology spoons and apples to apples in Latin) and they consistently complained about that.  Like, I can have you continue to translate or work on grammar, I was trying to be nice.  We had 8th graders visiting the school and classrooms and when they came into my room, several of the students started talking to them.  A lot of it was “hi, how are you!” type of things and then there were some yelling “don’t take Latin it’s awful”.  If you really hate it that much, why are you in here? Why are you gonna be that damn rude? Luckily the last group that stopped by was led by my Latin Club president and she was very positive and my last two classes of the day were honors and my tiny Latin III class, because I was incredibly over it and they are wonderful.
