Bill O'Reilly Scolds Michelle Obama: 'Slaves Had It Good Building The White House'

Bill O'Reilly responded to Michelle Obama’s DNC speech and said one of the most disgusting, appalling and flat out racist things ever said on Fox News. Yes, it was that bad.

Here is what he said in tonight’s talking points memo:

BILL O'REILLY: Michelle Obama referenced slaves building the White House in referring to the evolution of America in a positive way. It was a positive comment. The history behind her remark is fascinating. George Washington selected the site in 1791, and as president laid the cornerstone in 1792. Washington was then running the country out of Philadelphia.

Slaves did participate in the construction of the White House. Records show about 400 payments made to slave masters between 1795 and 1801. In addition, free blacks, whites, and immigrants also worked on the massive building. There were no illegal immigrants at that time. If you could make it here, you could stay here.

In 1800, President John Adams took up residence in what was then called the Executive Mansion. It was only later on they named it the White House. But Adams was in there with Abigail, and they were still hammering nails, the construction was still going on.

Slaves that worked there were well-fed and had decent lodgings provided by the government, which stopped hiring slave labor in 1802. However, the feds did not forbid subcontractors from using slave labor. So, Michelle Obama is essentially correct in citing slaves as builders of the White House, but there were others working as well. Got it all?

I love having been able to watch Noah’s art grow, flourishing over the year we’ve known each other. It’s still maturing, but it is really beautiful to look at with the style becoming more of their own and shows how much effort they put into it with the details.
MUST READ: A Republican Resigns....

“You’ve got to stand for something, or you’ll fall for anything.”

There were a great many Republicans who did not show up for their convention last week. It appears many of them, knowing that Trump will lose, did not want to be associated with his demagoguery, let alone his defeat.

But do they expect that Trumpism will just blow over after one election cycle? One Republican Committee member, from the Tea Party stronghold of DuPage County, Illinois, refuses to fall for that. The resignation letter he published at Huffpo is a fiery denunciation of the past 25 years of Republican politics:

At the national level, the delusions necessary to sustain our Cold War coalition were becoming dangerous long before Donald Trump arrived. From tax policy to climate change, we have found ourselves less at odds with philosophical rivals than with the fundamentals of math, science and objective reality.

The Iraq War, the financial meltdown, the utter failure of supply-side theory, climate denial, and our strange pursuit of theocratic legislation have all been troubling. Yet it seemed that America’s party of commerce, trade, and pragmatism might still have time to sober up. Remaining engaged in the party implied a contribution to that renaissance, an investment in hope. Donald Trump has put an end to that hope.

Al Franken Tells MSNBC On Air Talent To 'Make Lies Matter'
External image

I applaud Senator Al Franken for keeping this conversation civil. I could not have done it.

On MSNBC last night, the Senator sat down with Andrea Mitchell and several of the convention floor warriors to talk about Donald Trump. Franken noted that Trump got his political “career” started with birtherism and moved on to fake “investigations in Hawaii” along with lying about Muslims celebrating in New Jersey after 9/11.

Then Andrea Mitchell says this:

But facts don’t seem to matter in this campaign, .

I would have answered, &%$%*&*^))!!, Andrea! Who decides that facts don’t matter? YOU and your stupid bosses, that’s who!

But what Al Franken said was,

FRANKEN: “I think they still matter. I think, at the end of the day, facts still matter. And you know? I would challenge you (pointing to the reporters), all of you, to repeat them, when they are lies. I would say that the media, you know, I used to write quaint books, called Lies and the Lying Liars who Tell Them, and I think people think, ‘wow, there used to be books about when people lied, and now no one cares’ – You guys have kind of a job to do.

MITCHELL: “It’s a fair challenge.”

Yeah it’s kind of a job, but it’s not the job anyone sitting on those stools had been hired for, Al.

CNN's Resident Wingnut Jeffrey Lord Whines That Dems Were Mean To The One Percent
External image

Here’s what passes for political analysis on CNN these days. Ever since it was apparent that Orange Julius was going to win the Republican nomination, CNN has decided that they have to include at least one raving mad wingnut Trump supporter on every panel for “balance.”

This Monday’s coverage of the 2016 Democratic National Convention was no exception and included Trump supporter and CNN resident Trump apologist, Jeffrey Lord. We’ve documented many of Lord’s ridiculous appearances on CNN here if you’re not already familiar with this guy.

So… how can you tell when someone on the right has run out of ammunition to attack you with and has nothing? When they make arguments like this. Here’s Lord serving up a heaping helping of projection and pretending that daring to point out racism, and inequality is picking on those poor one percenters and racists.

LORD: I would have to say respectfully that this is a party that divides by race, age, gender, class… class warfare, class envy. And you think the Republican convention was a hate-fest. I would respectfully suggest to you…

JONES: Who was hated here?

LORD: People… the one percent.

JONES: Okay. How’s that?

LORD: Uggghhh, the subtext here was people who oppose illegal immigration…

JONES: That’s your answer?

LORD: Absolutely. (crosstalk) They’re dividing by race…

Yandere Simulator rant

I’ve been seeing a descent amount of people ranting on about Yandere-Chan killing a kitten.

Listen I like kittens, cats are my favorite animal, and I do feel sad for animals getting killed. But guess what: IT’S ONLY A GAME! A FICTIONAL UNIVERSE! IT’S NOT REAL!

Besides those people should realize that Yandere-Chan(the character THEY’RE playing as) is a irredeemable monster who can kill anyone and anything, animals included, just to get her senpai to notice her.

Larry Sanders Calls Votes For His Brother In A Tearful Moment

A touching moment occurred today during the roll call vote at the Democratic Convention when Larry Sanders, brother of Bernie, was given the microphone to deliver their votes to Bernie Sanders.

“I want to read before this convention the names of our parents Eli Sanders and Dorothy Glassberg Sanders. They did not have easy lives and they died young. They would be immensely proud of their son and his accomplishments. They loved him,” an emotional big brother read before having to pause for loud cheers before finishing with, “they loved the New Deal of Franklin Roosevelt and would be especially proud that Bernard is renewing that vision. It is with enormous pride that I cast my vote for Bernie Sanders.”

During his reading the cameras broke away to show a teary eyed Bernie. It was an emotional and heartfelt endorsement from his big brother.
Bernie Calls For Vote By Acclamation; Clinton Is Official Democratic Nominee

After the Vermont delegation passed on casting its delegate votes until all of the other states had voted, Senator Bernie Sanders made his way down to the Vermont delegation and cast Vermont’s votes.

He then moved for the rules to be suspended and for Hillary Clinton to be nominated by acclamation, which is consistent with his call for all delegates to be counted at the convention.

Everyone in the hall was on their feet cheering with brightly colored signs as Rep. Marcia Fudge pronounced Clinton the official nominee of the Democratic Party.

And in that moment, history is made. The first woman has been nominated as the Democratic candidate for the office of President of the United States.

RNC Sends Omarosa To DNC Convention As Foreign Policy Expert
External image

Sorry, please give me a minute while I try to stop laughing.

OK, I’m done. The RNC is now officially a laughing stock.

Here’s what the RNC’s Sean Spicer tweeted out.

.@OMAROSA discusses @HillaryClinton foriegn policy failures @GOP response at @DemConvention #DemsInPhilly

— Sean Spicer (@seanspicer) July 26, 2016

TPM writes: Sean Spicer is the Republican National Committee’s communications director and chief strategist. His tweet promoting Maginault’s appearance at the press conference highlights the difference between Trump’s surrogates and the prominent officials willing to go to bat for Clinton.

Donald Trump recently promoted the “Apprentice” contestant to be his Director of African-American Outreach for his presidential campaign, and now she’s on par with all the great foreign policy minds of the GOP.

Oh geez, Donald Trump discovered the thing that 4 year old viewers of Sesame Street could have told him in song!

One of these things is not like the others.

No, really, Donald! In fact, one of last night’s speakers, Al Franken, wrote a whole book about it!

Fox News lies, Donald. Thanks for noticing!

102 Year Old Arizona Hon. Delegate Jerry Emmett Casts Votes For Hillary Rodham Clinton

In an incredible moment during the roll call vote in Philadelphia, the oldest honorary delegate at the DNC Convention, checking in at 102 years, waited all her life to cast this vote.

Jerry Emmett said, “And fifty one votes for the next president of the United States of America, Hillary Rodham Clinton!

Via Instagram:

"I’m 102. My whole life, I keep asking God, let me have one more chance—if you let me go to the convention [to see the first woman be nominated for president], I’ll go home to heaven without making a little fuss. And when I called one of my former students and I told them that, she said, ‘oh no you won't—I’ve already ordered your dress to go to the inauguration.’” —Jerry, 102, Arizona, Hillary’s oldest delegate at the Democratic National Convention#DemsInPhilly

Simply incredible.

Phoenix New Times:

Emmett, who describes herself as a lifelong “good Democrat,” is in Philadelphia this week for the Democratic National Convention. At age 102, she’s the oldest member of the Arizona delegation. Though she has been an official convention delegate in the past, this year she’s technically an honorary delegate, which means she gets to do everything but vote for the candidate.

Uncle Ruckus Trump Delegate Drops In At DNC

Ashley Bell, is an African-American from Georgia AND a delegate for Trump. You might ask, is this man a self-loather? But then again, isn’t he much more likely to stand out as a rare Black supporter of the most racist varmint to ever seek the U.S. Presidency? Maybe he is just pretending for the obvious financial benefits of being a ‘token’ Republican? One of Donald Trump’s “there’s my African American” examples? It’s hard not to fathom that possibility.

Alan Colmes asks him, how can an African-American support Trump?
Bell doesn’t think African-Americans should be put in a box. So there! That settles that. Bell wants to switch the subject to Hillary-bashing, the only topic the GOP has this election.

Hillary Clinton as First Lady is the reason for all the over-incarceration of Black Americans. No, really.

What’s the purpose of voter ID, Alan inquires a few times. He evades the question by saying look, you try to get in here to see Hillary Clinton? Try it, see what happens. Alan reminds him that casting a vote in a voting booth is not exactly the same as attending a national convention. He gets the last word by reminding Mr. Bell, 'you know what voter ID is meant to do.’ Alan presses on with curiosity as to why they’d back a racist like Herr Drumpf.

COLMES: Your candidate said Blacks are lazy. Your candidate was against civil rights

BELL: You’re making that up!

The schedule via CNN:

The most important order of business: Democrats will officially make Clinton the first female presidential nominee from a major party with the roll call vote.

Later in the evening, Bill Clinton …will make the case for his wife’s election.

The theme of the day, though, will be driven by the “Mothers of the Movement” – a group of speakers that includes the mothers of Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Sandra Bland and more, all men and women who died in police custody or as a result of police actions. Trayvon Martin’s mother, whose son died at the hands of neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman, will also speak.

Join us in comments to talk about what’s happening.
