Ladrien June Day #21
#21 - Neighbors
(AU where ML is a popular comic book series because shenanigans)
Adrien woke up on his living room couch with his kitchen tablecloth drawn over him and a parched throat. His head felt like it was stuffed with cotton. Clumsily, he stood up and almost tripped over the discarded costume on the floor on his way to the sink.
He was able to recollect his thoughts of last night after a couple of glasses of water. One of his favorite foreign DJs was a guest at the convention he attended and they had a concert at one of the clubs nearby the night it ended. Adrien and a couple friends he made at the con went straight there, still in cosplay, to make sure they got in.
Sure, he could have gotten in just by dropping his name, but for these last three days he was Chat Noir, the devilish comic book hero, and Adrien loved the newfound freedom of wearing a mask.
The rest of the night was pretty hazy after the first few songs from sheer exhaustion. The few drinks he had also didn’t help.
Now he had to drag his sore feet around to clean up his apartment. Adrien picked up the pieces of his suit off the floor and headed to his bedroom door until he heard someone softly snoring.
Adrien lived alone. His cat, Plagg, was already awake and eating back in the kitchen. He carefully peered into the room and saw Ladybug sleeping in his bed.
Not literally Ladybug - she’s a comic book character - but the red, polka-dotted bodysuit, and the long ribbons in the stranger’s hair were unmistakable. Her face was buried in his pillow, hiding her identity from him. Adrien crept into the room as quietly as he could, hoping that he could stash the costume and at least put on some pants before she woke up.
As luck would have it, the giant bell from his costume came loose and thudded loudly on the wooden floor. Adrien was paralyzed mid-tip toe with fear as he watched it continue to rattle and roll across the floor until it hit his dresser.
Ladybug’s head snapped up, revealing red lipstick smudged all over his pillow and her cheek. She stared right at him, but her groggy mind took a moment longer to actually realize who she was looking at. Her eyes snapped down to his waist, and when Adrien realized he was still standing there in his briefs, he covered himself up with the costume wadded in his hands.
Ladybug threw the covers over her head and laid back down, declaring to herself, “Nope, this has to be a dream.”
She threw them off a second later, yelling even louder, “Nope, everything smells too much like you, this isn’t a dream!” before throwing herself out of the bed and running out the bedroom door.
Adrien distantly heard the front door slam shut. He stared at the empty bed still utterly confused before he decided he needed to put on some pants first.
Now with sweats on, he had just sat back down on the couch to find his phone when someone knocked on his door.
It was Ladybug - actually, it was his now unmasked cute and shy neighbor. She was blushing more than usual and her face was almost as red as her suit. She couldn’t seem to meet his eyes, twisting her mask in her hands as she admitted, “I think I know why I was here. I don’t have my keys… did I leave my phone here too?”
