las vegas venues

Nearly three years ago, we stood at the Las Vegas Village venue as Macklemore entertained us with “Thrift Shop” before we got into the corrals to run the strip at night for the Las Vegas Rock ‘N’ Roll half marathon.  This was my view of the stage.  It is just devastating what happened there last night.  My heart goes out to those whose lives have been forever changed by the unconscionable acts of the shooter.

J. Cole Leads Hot Tours Tally

J. Cole earns the No. 1 slot on this week’s tally of Hot Tours (see list, below) with $16.4 million reported from the third leg of his tour, a North American run from July 12 through Sept. 4.

With concerts booked primarily in outdoor amphitheaters – along with a handful of arena dates – Cole performed for 473,961 fans in 29 cities during the summertime trek that featured opening slots by Big Sean, YG and Jeremih. An Aug. 4 arena show at New York’s Madison Square Garden produced his highest gross of the summer with $1 million in sales from a sellout crowd of 13,665, but the next five top grosses all came from amphitheaters in major markets: Washington, D.C., Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston and, again, New York City. The top attendance of the summer came from the Chicago area with 27,901 tickets sold for a July 28 event at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in the suburb of Tinley Park.

Divided into three separate legs, Cole’s Forest Hills Drive tour kicked off in March with a five-week run through secondary U.S. markets set mostly in clubs and theaters. The second leg took the tour to Europe during May with 15 shows booked in nine countries.

Among the artists following Cole on the Hot Tours recap are Taylor Swift and Florida Georgia Line, landing at Nos. 2 and 4 respectively on the weekly slate of top grossing tours based on sales stats reported during the past week.
