Asked whether growing up in that environment molded Lars, Olaf chuckled and recalled an encounter Lars had with goaltender Bill Morrison when he played for Olaf’s Rodovre team in the Danish league.
“I think maybe he developed the players,” Olaf said. “When he was 10 years old and he was in the locker room, he went to the goalie, kicked him in the shin pads and said, ‘Hey, what were you doing today?’
“He has had a tremendous passion for ice hockey very, very early. When he was sitting with my dad and watching hockey games, he’d say, ‘Hey, don’t talk to me, I’m watching the game.’ He was 5 years old.”
