Hiking through the fog is a totally different experience and brings a whole new character to a day in the mountains.  All you can see is the trail and forest right in front of you and the grand scenery becomes much more intimate.  The air is calm and quiet, I find it to be quite relaxing.

A dramatic morning storm dumped rain, hail, sleet and snow on me while I watched the sunrise over Bear Lake.  There was such a nice mix of oranges and reds up there this year :)

White Sands has some of the most incredible patterns that form in the gypsum dunes.  During my recent trip, there hadn’t been any significant wind for at least a week so clean crests on the dunes were few and far between.  However there were some interesting close up patterns like this because the most recent breeze was from the opposite direction of the typical prevailing winds.
