large landscape photographs

This was from yesterday’s sunrise hike. Howling winds and blowing snow create some unbelievable light on the side of Flattop Mountain.  There’s something amazing about photographing in these conditions, with winds over 40mph and temps hovering right around 0°F.

Backpacking along the Olympic Coast.  It’s awesome to watch the sunset from such a wild place then fall asleep to the sound of crashing waves.

White Sands has some of the most incredible patterns that form in the gypsum dunes.  During my recent trip, there hadn’t been any significant wind for at least a week so clean crests on the dunes were few and far between.  However there were some interesting close up patterns like this because the most recent breeze was from the opposite direction of the typical prevailing winds.

A dramatic morning storm dumped rain, hail, sleet and snow on me while I watched the sunrise over Bear Lake.  There was such a nice mix of oranges and reds up there this year :)
