Plant of the Day
Monday 4 May 2015
Lamprocapnos spectabilis (bleeding heart) by nature in the woodland garden at RHS Hyde Hall Garden, Essex and by Fabergé at ‘Painting Paradise - the art of the garden’ The Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace, London. These herbaceous perennial plants are suitable for sun or semi-shade forming a mound of divided, mid-green foliage and producing arching stems of hanging heart-shaped flowers. The wonderful white form Lamprocapnos spectabilis ‘Alba’ lights up a dark space. This plant was formerly known as Dicentra spectabilis.
