You’re right. These are the kinds of topics you wouldn’t hear about often in latin america.

A lot of mestizx latinx (at least in my experience) have often felt uncomfortable talking about their race. I didn’t like to talk about mine for a long time because all i had to understand myself with was my ecuadorian nationality. Which would explain a lot actually.

I know. They also have asian and native populations, along with people of many other backgrounds.

I think it’s important to realize why these places have such a significantly larger white demographic tho, and the kind of reputation that goes with that. Especially when we’re talking about their histories of racism, and the issues behind representation for the more general latinx community.
