Trip to lake Ashinoko, in Hakone. It was Setsubun so there were people dressed as demons and devils at the shrine who we were to throw beans at to ensure our happiness this Spring. Setsubun is the festival for the transition of the seasons now only really done in Spring I’m told. You are supposed to eat the number of beans of your age to ward off bad luck. The highlight was a group of kids throwing beans off a platform into the lake at a man on a speed boat driving past waving a white stick on the lake. Quite hilarious!
