I have combination skin to the max. Some spots are oily, some spots are so dry they're flaky. I also have eczema on occasion near my mouth. I don't want to stop wearing makeup so I was wondering if you could recommend a foundation that would work for all of the above? I tried Clinique's Redness Control and it just gets too cakey and accents my dry spots even more!!! Please help!

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Compact Makeup

Apply this creamy foundation with a brush.. or even your fingers.. and it will hydrate your skin as well as correct any issues your skin might have, from breakouts to redness.  The nice thing about this foundation is that it’s VERY blendable, so over your oily spots you can apply a thinner layer, set with a powder, and it will look perfect.  This definitely won’t cake or accentuate any rough patches, which is why I’m recommending it for you.

Do you have any experience with Clinique Foundation? I've always had acne prone and sensitive skin, my Tzone is oily but then everywhere else is very dry. I've recently run into some skin allergies and eczema so I'm very hesitant to put products on my face. Right now I love Physician's Formula Organic Wear Tinted Moisturizer but its just not enough coverage. I was wondering if you thought Clinique would be a decent foundation for troubled skin? They have the acne solutions as well as the redness solutions, but it's almost $30. I'd rather get an opinion before spending that much on something I won't like. Thanks!

Just thought I’d let you know, I’ve answered this question twice haha and it never publishes.  Hopefully third times the charm!!

I actually really love Clinique foundations - I feel as though they’re incredibly high quality, and I would choose them over Mac foundation any day.  They’re mainly hypoallergenic and really focus on the health of your skin, versus just covering.  I’ve used both their Even Better foundations and their Acne Solutions foundation.  They do work, they have a great consistency, they cover well, and they really do make your skin look and feel more clear and healthy.  HOWEVER - I feel as though they are the same as Neutrogena foundations!  Identical, or at least very close, both in effect and consistency.  The Neutrogena Healthy Skin foundation is an exact dupe of the Even Better and the Redness Solutions foundations, and Neutrogena’s Skin Clearing foundation is a replica of the Acne Solutions foundation.  The only difference is the pricepoint, and since you’re saying that price is an issue for you, I would heartily recommend going with Neutrogena instead.  Neutrogena cosmetics are widely and often recommended by dermatologists, and so they’re going to be good for your skin (in my experiences, they really are!)  I would go with Healthy Skin because it’s going to help soothe as well as cover your eczema and redness.  :)

To add about Dr. Bronner's soap, I use the unscented liquid soap for body wash, to wash my dog, and to wash my ferrets. I have sensitive eczema prone skin and ferrets have very sensitive skin, but the soap is gentle enough for all of us to use. Its nice because I just have one wash for everyone. This soap can also be used for laundry, dishes, toothpaste, shampoo, cleaner, etc.

This isn't a question, but if you haven't ever used the line, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend all products from Giovanni Cosmetics! You can find their stuff in Target and its reasonably priced. I have extremely sensitive skin, skin allergies, and eczema but I can use Giovanni with no issue. I love their Smooth as Silk Shampoo/Conditioner, it's comparable to Aveeno shampoos. I won their D:Tox Facial Scrub on a promotion they were running on facebook and they actually sent me their ENTIRE D:Tox face line so they are really considerate. The fragrances are naturally derived so safe if you have fragrance allergies. The creator actually made the line because he experienced skin allergies himself so everything is gentle. I've fallen in love with it since I had to get rid of all of my soaps because of various ingredients. Just wanted to let you know, the stuff is amazing and super gentle.
