Scyphozoan Life Cycle

1. Planula : The free-swimming medusa is either female or male and produces eggs or sperm which combine to produce a larva, called a planula. The planula is planktonic and will float around until it finds a substrate to bind to.

2. Scyphistoma : Once the planula binds to a substrate it develops into a scyphistoma. Scyphistoma is a feeding polyp with protruding tentacles on top used to catch food particles.

3. Strobila : The polyp soon turns into a reproductive polyp with stacks of strobilae. The strobilae are immature medusa that are being asexually reproduced by the polyp.

4. Ephyra : When a strobila is mature it breaks away from the reproductive polyp as a planktonic ephyra.

5. Medusa : The ephyra matures into a full grown medusa.

I spy with my little eye…A CERTAIN BOY GENIUS.

Looks like Dexter loves The Human Fist as much as Robotboy, Tommy, Lola, and Gus.

Phylum Tardigrada

Tardigrades are commonly known as water bears. They have a cuticle and can go through ecdysis. Tardigrades have four pairs of clawed appendages, lay eggs, and have eyespots to detect light. Tardigrades are extremely adaptable and live in a large variety of habitats. Whenever they encounter unfavorable conditions, they can enter a form of hibernation called cryptobiosis.

For more information about cryptobiosis and tardigrades, take a look at this article.

Wander Over Yonder is being wrapped up in June after season 2 finishes. Now it’s not that the show’s story arc has finished. It’s creator Craig Mccracken has big plans and a solid story to further evolve WOY season 3. It’s only being cancelled because the big bosses at Disney have deemed two seasons of 80 episodes to be enough. The WOY fan-base recently grew a lot due to the episode “My Fair Hatey” and the creator has stated that the shows cancellation is not due to it’s popularity or anything. So why are the Disney bosses being so selfish?

Now I have seen many fans who are upset about this decision and also the Creator and the WOY crew. This happy go lucky cartoon has actually had a huge impact on some people’s lives. I’ve seen many people state that this show has gotten them through dark times and acts as a crutch and comfort for them. Right now fans are actually being hit with bouts of depression over this show’s cancellation. Their crutch and support is being torn from them without any warning. I am also one of those fans so I understand that feeling. We all need closure and one more season is all we’re asking. WOY is finishing well before it’s time. If we just get Season 3 approved, both the fans and the crew will get the closure they deserve. The show will wrap itself up and be able to finish on it’s own terms and go out with a bang.

We know everything comes to an end but when there is just so much great potential for season 3 and so many fans who are willing to back it and the crew already having the plans in place, why not try to fight for it? The only people we need to convince are the Big Disney Bosses and Execs. We owe the WOY crew that much at least. As Wander always says “It Never Hurts To Help!”

GHOST METAL reaction

“In a variation of luminol chemiluminescence, we make a coin appear to glow with ghostly trails.

Get 10mg of luminol and dissolve it in 10mL of 10% ammonia solution, the exact concentration isn’t critical. Then add 1mL of 3% hydrogen peroxide and dilute the whole solution into 100mL of distilled water.

Get a piece of copper metal, a penny will do, and drop it in with the lights out.

The penny will start to glow as the surface dissolves to form a copper amine complex. The complex catalyzes the reaction of hydrogen peroxide on luminol and causes the solution near the coin to glow. Bright trails can be seen if the copper is moved.

Eventually the concentration of copper in solution rises to the point that all of solution glows and masks the glow near the coin. The reaction will quickly extinguish as the luminol is used up.”

Subphylum Cephalochordata

Subphylum Cephalochordata includes lancelets. This subphylum, along with subphylum Urochordata, is informally classified under protochordates. Protochordates are “primitive” chordates that are not vertebrates. Lancelets are marine filter feeders and show all five chordate characteristics throughout their life. These animals have finger-like projections near their mouth called cirri. These structures act as a coarse filter to screen out particles too large to consume.

Kendall Jenner would be so much cooler if she promoted the cartoons she grew up with. See more Bill Board Music Awards fashion here.

Phylum Arthropoda - Subphylum Hexapoda

The most notable characteristic of the phylum Arthropoda is the presence of jointed appendages. A second major characteristic is an exoskeleton. Unlike the cuticles seen in nematodes and tardigrades, the exoskeleton of an arthropod is made primarily of chitin and can be reinforced by the process of biomineralization (the addition of tough minerals and hardened proteins). The anatomy of arthropods divides the body into three main tagma. These tagma include the head, thorax, and the abdomen. In some cases two or more tagma can be fused. When the head and thorax are fused it forms a cephalothorax. When the thorax and the abdomen are fused it is called a trunk.

Subphylum Hexapoda (”six-footed”) contains insects. Their anatomy contains all three segments: head, thorax, and abdomen. Hexapods have one pair of mandables, one pair of antennae, and one pair of maxillae on their head. Additionally they have lips called the labrum and labium. This subphylum is characterized by its three pairs of leggs. Typically insects have two pairs of wings. Hexapods, like myriapods, use spiracles (holes along the side of the exoskeleton) and tracheal tubes (tubes that allow oxygen transportation around the body) for respiration.

A/N: Took Monster Falls and decided it could only benefit from the inclusion of TAU’s Henry Pines and the kids. Thus there is Mabel/Henry (a well-developed, much-beloved TAU OC), plus a bit of Dipifica on the side. This is mostly fluff with very little plot to speak of. It’s also really long.

Please enjoy. :)

Henry Corduroy hadn’t been planning on Gravity Falls being a permanent, for-the-rest-of-his-life thing. He was never opposed to the vague possibility, of course – he rather preferred small towns over the city – but when he first set out it had been, in his mind, a starting point, possibly a stepping stone on the way to whatever the rest of his life was going to be.

It had been logical. He had family in the town as a point of familiarity and safety and a place to stay until he could find his own. There was an opening at the local library and, miracle of miracles, his application had been accepted – possibly because his Uncle Dan was a local and trusted as a reference, whatever his parents had to say about the black sheep of the Corduroy family.

It was just a first step, a first job in the field he had wanted since he was halfway through high school, and as a bonus it was a long, long drive away from the house he grew up in.

And then he met Mabel Pines.
