“L. Scott Caldwell will play Laverne, the woman who brought Raymond Holt (Andre Braugher) into this world, EW has learned exclusively. Laverne will enter the world of the Nine-Nine when she is the victim of a crime. As you may recall, she is a federal judge, and she was referenced in season 1’s Thanksgiving episode when Holt addressed her as “Your Honor” while on the phone with her. “They have a very formal relationship as you would expect,” executive producer Dan Goor tells EW. “The apple does not fall far from the tree. At one point she says in the flattest most deadpanned way, ‘Ah, yes, humor. There’s nothing more that I love than laughter and laughing,’ as she stands cross-armed next to a cross-armed Holt.’”
HOLT’S MOM VISITS THE SQUAD IN PART 1 OF AN ALL-NEW, ONE-HOUR “BROOKLYN NINE-NINE” TUESDAY, MAY 16, ON FOX.
In part 1 of this week’s special one-hour episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, we finally get to meet Holt’s mother. And let me just say, what an introduction it is. There’s also a lot more going on in this episode, so here’s what to expect from “Your Honor”.
When Captain Holt’s mom (guest star L. Scott Caldwell) seeks help from the precinct after her house is robbed, Amy’s the first to want to help with the case. But when she accidentally blows the opportunity, Jake gets the case instead. Needless to say, Jake is beyond excited to learn more about Holt and his beginnings.
Meanwhile, Amy is in desperate need of a win after she lost her chance at working on a case with Holt’s mother, so when she finds out Gina needs a tire changed and has never done it herself, it becomes her mission to properly teach her so she won’t need to rely on anyone for anything.
During all of this, Terry, Rosa and Boyle decide to remodel the break room because the original one is quite disgusting. Unfortunately, they run into some obstacles when Scully and Hitchcock are steadfast against it.
Things only get more complicated on Jake’s case with Holt’s mom when she confides in him a secret that Holt knows nothing about.
This episode was so funny and it was really great seeing how Holt became who he is just by meeting his mother. Here are a few things to look forward to in this episode:
Jake bonding with Holt’s Mom
Gina feeling empowered
The new break room
