Putting Kustom back in Car Shows

By Michael Hozjan

Like most people I met in my life I fell in love with Rick’s “laced” ’64 Impala long before I met him. Lacing is an art form that was popular in the fifties and sixties. Simply put, you take a piece of lace and spray over it transferring the pattern to the car. It can be either real beautiful or not. Rick’s Impala was a work of art. That’s how we met, my admiration for his work at the inaugural Ottawa Autorama.

Rick took over the show renamed the Ottawa Motorama this year but in truth it should be named the Ottawa KUSTOM KAR SHOW.  This year along with Canada’s favorite hot rod girl, Twiggy, from Vegas Rat Rods fame, Rick is bringing in famed customizer VooDoo Larry along with his killer kustom the Sahara, a recreation of George Barris famed creation.
