There are two types of gold/silver powder used in kintsugi work. One is called “round powder (or marufun),” and the other is “finest powder (or keshifun).” Round powder finish requires polishing, while finest powder does not. Usually, I use round powder ‘cause it makes better look and more durable mending. But when you work on ceramics like this kohiki-mug, you have to use finest powder since this kind of ceramics absorbs urushi easily. (Round powder needs additional urushi before polishing)

粉引きは漆がしみやすいから消粉で仕上げないとダメだって、わかってたのに、わかってたのに、丸粉を使ってもうて、漆がしみてもた。(ついでにヒビも入ってたみたいだけど)
