Ronaldo scored a total of 42 goals in all competitions during the 2007–08 season, his most prolific campaign during his time in England. His first goal of the season came against his former club, Sporting, with a header in the first group match of the Champions League. He missed three matches after headbutting a Portsmouth player at the start of the season, an experience he said taught him not to let opponents provoke him, but still managed to score 13 league goals by the campaign’s midway point. At the end of 2007, four years after proclaiming his desire to become one of the world’s best players, Ronaldo achieved his goal when he was named runner-up to Kaká for the Ballon d'Or, as voted for by sports journalists, and came third, behind Kaká and Lionel Messi, in the running for the FIFA World Player of the Year award, as determined by international managers and captains.
Ronaldo scored his first and only hat-trick for Manchester United in a 6–0 win against Newcastle United on 12 January 2008, bringing United up to the top of the Premier League table. A month later, on 19 March, he captained United for the first time in a home win over Bolton, and scored both goals of the match. His second goal was his 33rd of the campaign, which bettered George Best’s total of 32 goals in the 1967–68 season, thus setting the club’s new single-season record by a midfielder. Ronaldo scored his final league goal of the season from the penalty spot in the title decider against Wigan on 11 May, as United claimed a second successive Premier League title. His 31 league goals earned him the Premier League Golden Boot, as well as the European Golden Shoe, which made him the first winger to win the latter award.
“Ronaldo is better than George Best and Denis Law, who were two brilliant and great players in the history of United."— Johan Cruyff on the 23-year-old Ronaldo, April 2008.
Summary: Mid-War Cybertron: After his
transport ship crashes, Knockout finds himself in the company of three
of those infamous warriors: the Wreckers. No lone Decepticon could hope
to escape that situation alive, so Knockout will just have to be
something else. Like an Autobot.
Author’s Note: It’s back! And I’m gonna be way better
about updating this (and all my other stories) But this one in
particular because the Wreckers are my favorite, and this is the only
story I have at the moment with them in it.
A little bit about them
that I didn’t mention before: Wheeljack is young here. A rookie in the
Wreckers team, really. He hasn’t quite made buddies with Bulkhead yet.
Perceptor is, yes, a femme as you noticed last chapter, because I like
to swap pronouns for some bots and she seemed like a good fit for that.
And the third Wrecker to make an appearance I didn’t make that many
changes to because he’s already great.
Anyway, enjoy! Thoughts and criticisms are encouraged and appreciated!
can you do 33. celebrity/fan for Sasusaku with Sakura being a celebrity? :)
33 - celebrity/fan au
His devotion to her work is a silent thing, really. He’s never bought tickets to her concerts, or purchased any of her albums on itunes; never even told anyone of his interest in her music, or much less that she has become somewhat of his muse. And yet, still, Sasuke keeps track of her every content with near religious loyalty, storing every picture of her performances, events and tour dates away on an inconspicuous folder on his laptop, her stack of albums neatly tucked away in his nightstand alongside his vintage walkman cd-player.
But if he is honest with himself, Sasuke prefers it that way, anyway. Sakura Haruno is, after all, not the type of artist most would think him to be into; generally (stupidly, he corrects), he tends to be associated with the louder, grungier bands—those of which coincidentally (not) always seem to comprise an abundance of headbanging.
(it is almost comical considering his aspirations consist of nothing but to become an acoustic musician just like her.)
She is his inspiration, his absolute greatest influential figure, a paragon of true kindness and passion—and on the nights he works on his own pieces, he can never help himself from wishing he may one day meet her; from hoping he might someday bask in her bright, warm presence.
(a funny thought to have, he realizes later, because really, what did he know about the famous twenty year old? maybe she isn’t even like that. maybe it’s all just an act.
