Did you really like that Arthur movie? It looks ott and ridiculous :\ no offence though.

okay full offence taken though because it is a Thing of Beauty. Of course it’s over the top and ridiculous - but so is Arthurian legend.

‘But it’s not historically accurate’ - Arthurian legend was written over hundreds of years in a bunch of places by lots of different people in several languages, and features historical accuracies such as magic and dragons. Kung-Fu George is NOT the strangest thing I’ve come across while researching my dissertation on Arthurian literature last year.

This movie is continuing the proud tradition of absolute absurdity and nonsense that has been a staple of Arthurian legend since its inception, and I enjoyed the hell out of it.

I love the fact that King Arthur doesn’t have a ridiculously forced romantic subplot, but then again I love these two so much that I do want them to kiss and get married LMAO

‘Well, Wart,’ said Merlyn, ‘here we are – or were – again. How nice you look in your crown. I was not allowed to tell you before, or since, but your father was, or will be, King Uther Pendragon, and it was I myself, disguised as a beggar, who first carried you to Sir Ector’s castle, in your golden swaddling bands. I know all about your birth and parentage and who gave you your real name. I know the sorrows before you, and the joys, and how there will never again be anybody who dares to call you by the friendly name of Wart. In future it will be your glorious doom to take up the burden and to enjoy the nobility of your proper title: so now I shall crave the privilege of being the very first of your subjects to address you with it – as my dear liege lord, King Arthur.’

‘Will you stay with me for a long time?’ asked the Wart, not understanding much of this.

‘Yes, Wart,’ said Merlyn. ‘Or rather, as I should say (or is it have said?), Yes, King Arthur.’

Merlin’s Point of view

I know that the lake of Avalon is close I can hear the waves clasping on the shore but I fear that it is too late for Arthur falls to the ground in my arms.
He starts to mutter “It’s too late…. It’s too… All you magic, merlin and you can’t save my life.”

Ok, just had this thought. I’ve always thought that shooting the dog is basically to test a Kingsman agent’s willingness to take out one of their own should anything go wrong, such as in the event an agent ever decides to betray the agency and what it stands for. Eggsy failed the test at first. But Eggsy took out Arthur and that’s about as real as that dog-shooting test was ever going to get.

So guess what, Eggsy passed the test to become a Kingsman (in an unorthodox fashion, but still!) and he has every right to join their ranks. Well, besides saving the world from Valentine of course.

It's not that spoilery, it just includes Camelot ;) I've seen people talking about King Arthur and Regina and here's my prompt: King Arthur flirts a little with Regina, Regina is surprised and talks about it with Robin. (In my mind Robin doesn't really get jealous, but doesn't like it either. You can write it however you want though :))

I’m trying to cheer myself up by writing cavity inducing fluff so here you go!

“And this surprises you?” he asked somewhat amusedly, not completely considering the matter at hand but the surprise on her face when she’d told him, the complete shock that someone had even bothered to view her in such a way had him realising just how little she thought of herself and though that part wasn’t amusing, though he knew he still had a lot to do in order to convince her of how truly wonderful she was, it was the absolute adorable way in which she scrunched her nose eyes at the notion that someone would flirt with her and the King no less.

She padded across the cold stone floor of the room they’d been given for the duration of their stay here and moved onto the bed on her knees, shuffling slowly towards him in a way so ungraceful and so very innocent in execution that it had him, not for the first time, wondering what she was like as a young girl, untarnished by the cruel world she’d found herself in. He’d love to have seen her like that though now, as she scraped back a thick lock of hair from her face bare of make-up, tucking it behind her ear, he couldn’t complain. “It was just…unexpected” she seemed to settle on, a small shrug as she finished “that’s all.”

He laughed softly, chuckling at the wonder of this woman once labelled evil, and he wouldn’t deny that, knew all of her reputation and the acts that had earned it, but this woman, his Regina, was so very different now. “You have no idea do you?”

Her head tilted at that as she looked him over, her brow furrowed with hands clasped upon the skin of her thighs left bare by her short nightgown (she was never one to forgo a little lace at bedtime he’d discovered) as she told him “I don’t know what you mean…”

He gave her one last warm smile, moving a hand up to cup her cheek briefly before whispering a gentle “come here,” and shifting down to lay beneath the covers with his head on the bed and an arm out in offering to her, wanting to feel her close to him.

She moved willingly to mirror his position, laying opposite him with such a tender smile on her face, full of the very same affection he held so strongly for her. Her hand was on his cheek, thumb rubbing soothing lines across the stubbled skin as her eyes trailed over his face.

“When was the last time you were truly, properly flirted with my love?” he was sure that, had the lights been on, he’d no doubt have caught the pink colouring the tops of her cheeks, for one so bold as Regina, she blushed so very easily and he loved bringing it out of her.

She rubbed her face a little harder into the pillow, moving her hand to cup his neck, the other resting lightly on his chest as she asked for clarification, “before you?” and when he nodded, his eyes still so wonderfully lit with his smile as she told him softly and so very quietly “never.” And it had him confused so she stopped him when he moved to speak Daniel’s name, explained “our love was hidden, our conversations so very careful even whilst alone,” and that he understood, with her mother the way she’d described her to him, “he never really had the chance to do anything of the sort,” and Robin’s smile grew sympathetic then as he leaned forward to press his forehead to hers as she continued, “every moment we had was used telling one another how much our love meant, we never knew how much time we had between riding lessons and tea time, there was no time for playing coy or ‘will he won’t he kiss me?’”

“I understand,” he told her softly and was glad that now she could talk about her love with Daniel so freely and with a lighter heart, could speak his name without the crushing anguish she’d felt for so many years because she’d found the love she knew he’d want her to have “he was so very kind,” she’d told Robin, “so kind and unselfish, he wanted nothing more than my happiness and I know he’d want the same now.” He tilted his head down enough to capture her soft lips in a gentle, lingering kiss before pulling back and telling her “and although I wish for no one other than me to bring out that lovely pink hue in your cheeks,” and it rose again when she chuckled and rubbed her nose along his, “I won’t deny you the feeling of being admired by others for you truly are wonderful.”

And though she laughed, her heart clenching with his words, his care, she couldn’t help but laugh as she shook her head and told him “there’s no other I’d rather be flirted with than you my thief.”

I think it worth pointing out that when Arthur pulled Excalibur he was worthy. He was a hero. If he hadn’t been a hero he would have turned into a pile of ash like Sir Kay. If he was a horrible person then Guinevere wouldn’t have fallen in love with him and the people wouldn’t have followed him in the first place. The point of his story is that he didn’t stay worthy. He let his obsession to find the other half of the sword twist him into something else. Just because Arthur became a villain doesn’t mean he was one when he pulled Excalibur from the stone.

The same applies to Rumple. When he pulled the sword he was a hero. His heart was 100% hero because of his blank slate status. Now we get to see him try and stay a hero.
