special thanks to noizs-pizza for teaching me how to make a gif ♥

She talked about music in a really beautiful way, in a way that a real singer does. When she was here I felt that she was really happy in some way. Certainly the way that she sung that night, she sang the blues away, if you know what I mean. She used her gift to still her trembling soul. She used her gift as a way to explain herself to herself. To entertain people, sure, but to sing the blues and to give herself some relief.
—  Phlip King, from an interview, on Amy Winehouse

What I don’t get is not many people know that each character name in the Lion King is a word in Swahili

I mean Simba, meaning Lion is the obvious one…but what about the others?

Rafiki = Friend

Nala = Gift

Sarabi = mirage

Timon = Respect

Pumbaa = stunned or slow wittied

Shenzi = savage

Banzai = skulk or lurk

Kovu = scar

Kiara = Small, dark thing

Zazu = movement

Zira = hate

Nuka = stink

These films seriously did their research and I love it
