In this sea of change, understanding is our shore / I disappear with no control / The current is strong, my arms are weak / But you are the branch within my reach / Though I cannot catch my breath / Pull me back to shore
I seem to have no direction, I have no control / No way to know where currents pull / All the weight of my intentions / Are making it so hard to breathe the air at all / I see in you, coastlines reaching out / When there’s nothing left to reach
“Dear Ambellina, the Prise wishes you to watch over me”
(I know this photo is a repost for me, but I’d like to make a point!)
So if you didn’t know this about me already, I am actually very much obsessed with this comic series in its entirety. Including the Good Apollo book which a lot of people claimed as “nonsensical” and “not really pertaining to the actual series”. But that kind of ticked me off because this had EVERYTHING to do with the series. This is the first time I’ve ever seen a look into the writer’s mentality while they are writing an entire universe. Not only that, but Good Apollo was a huge point in why the writer decided to actually come face-to-face with one of his characters in order to force progression in a storyline. And why this was so important was because it gave the feeling that this universe, and the characters within it, were on a separate plane all their own. He actually had to go and meet with one of the characters to finally end the story. And that was so so vital to everything the Amory Wars really is.
me: hmm coheed and cambria is confusing, maybe the comics will be easier to understand
the comics: claudio sanchez AKA the writer learns from his demonic bicycle, ten speed of god’s blood and burial, that he needs to transfer into the ficitional world he created through a magical mirror and kill claudio kilgannon’s love interest to end the story of the comics that were reading right now
I’m honestly this bored I’m just sitting here on Youtube listening to Coheed (what else is new) and I just gotta say something. Coheed and Cambria has the most devoted, loyal, crazy fanbase ever. Which is awesome and I’m proud to be a part of it. What ticks me off though is when some people are like “I hate people who say they like Coheed when they only know Welcome Home and ______”. WHO CARES!? You didn’t come out of the womb with their entire discography in your hand! And I can pretty much guarantee the first song your elitist ass heard WAS Welcome Home or Suffering or A Favor House or WHATEVER. Everything Evil was the first song I heard but Welcome Home was what pulled the trigger for me-since 2006 I’ve seen them 11 times between Detroit and Los Angeles, have met Claudio 4 times, Travis twice, Mic twice, Chris twice, Blaze once, 8 t-shirts, a pair of shorts, two hoodies, have every CD, comic, GN, DVD out there AND 5 Kill Audio dolls sitting in my basement. Are you going to tell me I’m not a real fan because at 11 years old Welcome Home was my favorite song? If that’s the case you can just go ahead and fuck right off. I LOVE their music and I love being a Child of the Fence. One of my favorite parts of being a Coheed fan is having a family in any Kilgannon. Just recently one of the members of Cobalt and Calcium passed away and people came out in DROVES mourning the loss of someone a lot of them had never met before. I cried over a kid who I very briefly ONCE met at a show and talked to on Facebook maybe all of 3 times. This community is a seriously amazing thing and we should be constantly expanding it, not closing it off because you feel you’re more entitled to it because you have all the CDs or you’ve been a fan for this much longer. Do you honestly think at meet-and-greets EVERY SINGLE PERSON there is a rabid fan who would chew off their own leg to be there? Of course not. The first time I met the band there were people ahead of me in line who had no idea who Claudio even was-I had to point him out three times before they realized he was the one with The Hair. One of them had even said to him that they really liked Welcome Home. Do you honestly think that the guys don’t appreciate that? Do you honestly think they’re sitting there like “Fuck this guy, he’s not a fan because he doesn’t know the rest of my work”? OF COURSE NOT. So instead of being a snob you should take that opportunity to recommend your favorites on whichever record and just appreciate that they even KNOW your favorite band. It wasn’t that long ago when they were virtually unheard of. If you were really a fan you would support getting their music out everywhere instead of whining that people like their singles.
