Ah! Last one! Day 10: ten quotes/phrases/philosophies you live by.
1. “If you think you can you can. If you think you can’t, you’re right.”-Henry Ford
To be honest, most things are at least fifty percent mental. If you just believe you can acomplish something, then you will.
2. Tomorow this will all be but a memory.
This one helps me get through things i don’t want to do. If I’m exhausted from sprinting, i just tell myself tomorow, it will be over and i will just have a memory of sprinting. This one also helps encourage you to make the most of time, since by tomorow that time will be gone.
3. “We cannot direct the wind but we can adjust the sails.”-Unknown author
I encouraged Laura to use this one as her yearbook quote. It just means that although things might not always go our way, we just need to make the best out of things.
4. “Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.”-Robery Brault
Things that i didnt realize were that important when i younger turned out to really mean a lot now that I’m older. You really need to appreciate that and take nothing for granted.
5. Sometimes it’s good to join in, and sometimes it’s good to watch. Sometimes it’s good to talk, and sometimes it’s good to listen.
So awhile ago i took this test in time magazine to see if i was introverted or extraverted. I got fifty fifty resaults, which i just take to mean that i appreciate both being with people and being alone, which is i guess acurate. Although its always fun to make a good joke, its also good to listen to what other people have to say.
6. Never don’t do something you might regret not doing later.
Pretty much just go for it. The best excuse is “It was worth it”, so you should always take chances and go all out.
7. “We could all take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.”-Unknown author.
The only persons who’s opinion should matter to you is your own. You need to live your life how you think you should and pay no mind to what others who disagree with you.
8. Make like a mountain climber and get over it.
This one is also synonomous to “Build a bridge and get over it.” You really can’t spend too much time dwelling on the negative things. The past is the past and there’s no changing it. This one goes along with “There’s no use crying over spilt milk.”
9. “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish on it’s ability to climb a tree, it will go through its whole life believing it is stupid.”-Albert Einstein
You really shouldn’t judge people. Everyone is unique, and to compare people to each other is unfair. This one kind of goes along with that Dr. Suess quote “Today you are you, that is truer than true, there is no one alive who is youer than you.”
10. Do things so that you can be proud of them later.
Make choices that make you happy later. Act in a way you won’t regret. It’s sort of similar to “The htings you’ll never forget are the things you cannot regret.” Live your life in a way you’ll be proud of.
Well, I’m pretty sad now, because that is all there is for the lists. I hope anyone who’s out there reading them has enjoyed them, because i certainly have.
Leigh's Take on Kiera's List of Tens With a Dash of Laura... Part 7
Last one, I promise!!
This one’s one of Laura’s (I don’t know where she is lately… I’ll yell at her tomorrow). It’s ten things about high school- five I’m looking forward to, five things I’m not,
First the good stuff!
I really want to meet the new people. We met a couple nice people at a dance our town had for all the incoming freshman, but I wanna meet more, especially new boys! Haha :)))
I really want to go to parties. I think I’ve said this before, but I’m beyond ready to party it up!
PROM! Even though that’s about four years away, I don’t care. I’m going to be head of the prom comittee and that prom is gonna be freaking amazing. End of story.
Clubs! They sound a thousand times more interesting then the ones in middle school.
High school sports and plays. I’m a drama athlete, so I’m hoping to do both… despite the conflicting schedules. I’m not gonna have a social life >_<
Now the bad stuff…
Drugs. I do NOT wanna do drugs. I’ve personally seen the affects of drugs, and it completely ruins your life. And peer pressure seems persuasive… askdkeisgnd O_o
The workload. It seems suffocating… It just further diminishes my hopes for a social life.
The supposed bitches and mansluts from the other towns. They don’t sound very welcoming…
The size of the school. I’m gonna get lost, and then I’m going to get a detention, and it’s gonna go on my permanent record… I am not one to care about rules, but your permanent record gets sent to colleges, and that’s serious stuff man.
Pressure. Academic, peer and all the other types. Pressure gets to me NOW, it must be ten times worse in high school… I might get a complex.
And there you have it, good and bad. I’m gonna go rest now, that was quite a lot of tumbling… And to all a good night!
