The new edition of the sportiest car in the premium compact segment set to be launched in 3-door and 5-door form in July 2017. It will see BMW writing the next chapter in the BMW 1 Series success story: around one million units of the 1 Series were sold between 2011 and 2017.
The new Edition Sport Line Shadow, Edition M Sport Shadow, and
BMW M140i Edition Shadow special editions underline the car’s
distinctively sporty yet elegant appearance with a black kidney grille, black

It carries a wide range of powerful and efficient engines including a three-, four- and six-cylinder petrol unit as well as cutting-edge three- and four-cylinder diesel variants. Outputs range from 80 kW/109 hp in the BMW 116i to 250 kW/340 hp in the BMW M140i.
Luis Bertelli of @luismoto has paid homage to the legendary Tuscan Hill Climb with his latest Beemer build. The changes are more than just cosmetic: We’re told that nearly 50 kilos have been stripped from the original R nineT. But our favorite touch is the front fairing—and the double-kidney style grill found on Beemers since the beginning of time. ’Saline’ is now one of our Bikes Of The Week; Hit the link in our bio to see the rest.

This was BMW’s first car after the Isetta series, and with it shares the honor of being the only postwar BMWs not to have the iconic kidney grille. Like the Isetta, there no real need for a grille at all here as the 0.7l motorcycle-derived flat-twin engine was mounted in the back, where it developed around 30hp. The LS Coupe was the long wheelbase version with a screaming 40 horsepower engine from the earlier Sport model.
Despite being such a tremendously elegant design, it cost only around $10,000 in today’s money. You can’t even get a Nissan Versa for that low these days! Of course, the Nissan probably has a few advantages in terms of safety, but can you imagine dropping $10k on a brand new BMW today?
It’s easy to forget that old BMWs don’t all have visually weighty recessed grilles like the New Six or wraparound ones that enclosed the headlights like the New Class sedans. Here’s two examples, the 700 LS and the 2000 C. More on the 700 LS in a later post - along with the Isetta it’s the only postwar BMW car not to have the iconic kidney grille.
The Speciality Equipment Market Association (SEMA) in Las Vegas is regarded worldwide as the leading trade show for customization and tuning. At this year’s SEMA show from November 3-6 2015, BMW presents a selection of distinctively sports-oriented performance parts to the trade fair audience. Trade fair visitors will see a BMW M Performance modified BMW M4 Coupé as well as the first BMW M Performance Parts for the new BMW M2 Coupé.
What is more, the new “M Performance” inscription in dynamic technical design is to be seen on selected parts. The inscription reflects the increased flair of BMW M Performance as well as underscoring the functional orientation of all BMW M Performance Parts. Evidence of this is also to be seen in the new, extremely sporty parts and components with which BMW has fitted the demonstration vehicle. The new inscription will initially appear on the BMW M Performance Parts for the models BMW M2 Coupé and BMW M4 Coupé, but in future it will be used for the entire BMW M Performance product portfolio.
The new BMW M6 Coupe Competition Edition will be presented by BMW at the 66th Frankfurt International Motor Show. The exclusive Competition Edition stands for exceptional individuality, thanks to its special paintwork colors, components made of high-tech carbon fiber, fine leathers with coordinated contrast stitching and a range of unusual details. The Competition Edition is available exclusively for the M6 Coupe with the further honed Competition Package. It gives the 4.4-liter V8 petrol engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology an output of 441 kW (600 hp) and maximum torque of 700 Nm (516 lb-ft), giving this M6 a top speed of 305kph (189.5mph) and fuel consumption combined numbers of 9.9/100km / 28.5mpg.
A couple of days after I bought my e28, I was on my way to work when a guy in a euro e28 honked at me and gave me a thumbs up. My fog lights and turn signals were cracked, my kidney grilles were wrecked, my idle was surging like mad, it ran like shit when cold and I couldn’t drive it until it was at operating temp, cruise control didn’t work, fuel pump was going, the battery would die all the time, most of my cluster didn’t work, OBC was broken, my amp was burning the voice coils out of subs left and right, and my tires were like 8 years old and bald and this guy still appreciated my piece of shit car. Grumpy and I have come a long way since then.
