What's magnificent gonna do to jackie?
(i wrote this forever ago, back when me and the discord still liked the idea of the swap au being more an illusion than an actual separate universe. But now we like it being a bit more of a permanent thing and i wrote the last prompt as a prequel to this thing in my head so i just tweaked it to fit more of what we have now ;3c)
Keslie looks up from her book she’s reading towards the clock and frowns. It was getting late…
“Hey Stacy?” Kelsie calls from where she’s huddled up on her beanbag, “Do you know what’s keeping Daddy so long?”
Stacy, their babysitter, looks over the counter from where’s she’s washing dishes from tonight’s dinner and answers back, “I don’t Kels… but don’t worry I’m sure your dad will be home soon.”
Kelsie pouts slightly and sinks down in her beanbag, tossing her book to the ground, “Okay…” she mutters. She missed her daddy. He had been gone all day! He told her this morning he would be gone at a shoot all day. But he should have been back by now…
She sighs and looks out across the living room. Penny is crawling around, picking up blocks and knocking them together, doing baby stuff. Ollie is scrunched over the coffee table, doodling away on some paper. Kelsie rises and walks over to Oliver curiously.
‘Watcha drawin’ Ollie Pollie?” She asks with a head tilt, her raven hair flopping to the side. Ollie blinks up at her with a big smile before turning back to the paper and scribbling with a blue crayon.
“I’m drawin’ daddy, bro and doctor jj!” Ollie says excitedly, his tongue sticking out of his mouth slightly as he focuses on finishing. He eventually stills then looks at his drawing proudly before holding it out for his sister to see.
The older girl scrunches her eyebrows together. The red superhero flying through the sky in the picture doesn’t look like bro fantastic at all! And The guy in the cap doesn’t look like their dad, nor does the teal haired guy with the monocle.
“This is supposed to be dad, bro fantastic and doc?” Kelsie asks skeptically. Ollie pouts for a second before snatching the drawing back.
“Yes.” He emphasized, and he points to each drawing as he explains, “That’s daddy if he was a superhero like Bro. And that’s Bro if he was a Daddy. But he’s sad cuz he can’t see his kids, so that’s why he’s crying. Oh and that’s dr. jj if he was fancy! He can’t speak well, but he still has his cool mustache.” Ollie looks back up at Kelsie after he explains like he expects her to understand now but she looks just as confused. “It’s their other sides,” He claimed simply.
“Oooookay,” Kelsie says before she sighs and ruffles Ollie’s hair, “You got quite the imagination there little bro.” He mutters something she can’t hear under his breath as Stacy calls out to them, “Kelsie! I”m almost done! Can you help gather up Penny for bedtime?”
“Yes ma’am!” Kelsie answers as she leaves Ollie back his coloring. She picks up Penny who fusses slightly in her arms, trying to reach back down for her blocks.
“No more playtime Pen Pen,” Kelsie laughs as she bounces the baby up and down in her arms, making the baby giggle. Kelsie smiles and turns to lead her to the nursery when the knob to the apartment door jiggles before the door blows open.
A gust of wind sends Kelsie’s skirt flying up and she shields her face and Penny’s against the air with a cry. Then she lifts up her head and blinks up at the intruder.
Jackie stands in the doorway but something’s off. He’s stiff and doesn’t pass the door frame. He doesn’t melt when he sees his kids or tiredly shrugs off his jacket like normal. In fact he stares down at Kelsie as if he doesn’t even know her. His eyes are glowing bright green.
Stacy stands at the entrance to the kitchen, staring Jackie down with a guarded expression.
“Kelsie,” She whispers, “Take Penny and Oliver away from here…”
The second Stacy says anything however Jackie’s head snaps towards her and his expression hardens. He strides over to her, knocking over chairs and anything in his way until he’s wrapping his hands around her throat. The babysitter gags, tears in her eyes and she tries to claw her way out but Jackie just turns and cracks her head against the countertop and lets her fall unconscious to the floor.
Kelsie and Oliver start to scream and Penny starts crying.
A new man strides in through the door, a glowing tattered cape flowing behind him. He has half of a green gray cat mask on and a slick green vest like a magician of some sort. He quickly stands next to Jackie and puts a hand on the father’s shoulder. Jackie slumps slightly, his eyes drooping and glowing brighter.
“Ah, Jackie,” the man muses as he looks around, “What a lovely home you’ve made in your time away!” He then meets Kelsie’s eyes as the young girl’s legs start to quake. His eyes aren’t human. “And what a lovely family.”
Penny starts to cry louder, holding out her hands for Jackie. “Daaa!! Daaaa!!!!” Kelsie takes a shaky step backward, ready to scream again. But then the masked man snaps his fingers and suddenly Kelsie is floating off the ground and something sticky is covering hers and Penny’s mouth so they can’t make a sound.
The man tuts, “Now now… none of that.” His voice is sickeningly sweet and could be heard as almost gentle if he didn’t look so sinister. He grips hard onto Jackie’s shoulder and the vlogger stands at attention.
“Come Jackie, you have someone to introduce me to, yes?”
Jackie’s reply comes out weak and distant, “Yes, Magnificent….”
The two men start to walk to the other side of the living room where Ollie is now huddled in the corner, shaking like a leaf and crying. Magnificent holds up a hand for Jackie to stop before he steps over and kneels down by Ollie. The young boy tries to scoot away but there’s nowhere to go.
“Hello there Oliver,” Magnificent smiled sweetly, ‘“I’ve heard so much about you from your father. Now… a little bird told me about your dreams… You have a special gift. I think you could be such a great help to me.”
Ollie glares defiantly up at the masked man, “Why would i want to help you?! You broke my daddy!”
Magnificent frowns and stares down coldly at the child. “I wasn’t really giving you a choice in the matter.” He stands and turns heel, waving a hand towards Jackie, “Jackie, collect your son and let’s get out of here. There’s much to do.”
Jackie nods and marches over to grab Ollie. Ollie cries and tries to scramble away but Jackie is fast. Ollie screams and kicks and punches Jackie trying to get him to let go.
“Daddy stop! Daddy don’t listen!! Please wake up!! Wake up, he’s a bad man!! He’s a bad bad man, Daddy!! Wake up!!!”
Kelsie is crying and trying to get back down to the ground but she can’t move and Penny is freaking out in her arms.
Jackie and Magnificent are almost to the door with their prize when Ollie lands a swift kick to the side of Jackie’s face. His face jerks harshly to the side and he’s still for a second, then he blinks rapidly, his eyes blue.
“What…” He breathes, like a man waking from a dream and he almost jerks out of his skin when he sees how he’s holding Ollie, “Ollie!” He drops his son lightly to the ground and starts checking him over, brushing back his hair and wiping at his tears, ‘Oliver, oh my god, are you okay?!”
Ollie throws his arms around Jackie’s shoulders, “Daddy…!”
Jackie doesn’t even get a chance to hug him back before he’s blown away by a flash of green and thrown into the wall. Magnificent growls and holds out his hand, drawing Jackie up into the air with telekinesis. Jackie struggles as an unstable laugh bubbles out of Magnificent’s throat and he tilts his head to the side, “Who said you could wake up, Puppet?”
The father chokes, “Ollie, run-!” but the sound of the boy’s sneakers squeaking on the floor alerts Magnificent to where he is and the man turns around and traps him in green light too, “Not so fast!”
Magnificent giggles as Ollie struggles to move before turning his attention back to Jackie, “Now, where were we?”
Jackie’s shaking and crying as he tries to fight the magic holding him down, wanting nothing more than to wrap his kids up in his arms, “Why… Why are you doing this Marvin?!”
The masked man snarls and closes the magic in tighter before throwing Jackie across the room again. The father’s head knocks into a counter, a corner catching his nose and leaving a gash across his face. He struggles to get to his feet as Marvin stalks his way over him.
“Because I need more power!” Marvin screams, “I need control!! I need the truth, and i’ll do anything to get it!!”
Jackie looks up to his former friend with fear in his eyes, “Please… he’s just a kid…” Tears fall down his face, mixing with the blood.
Marvin stops for a second before he chuckles and stares down at Jackie with no emotion on his face, “and i’ve lost the ability to care.”
The dark magician outstretches his hand towards Jackie and suddenly the room is filled with his screams as the father writhes on the floor. Marvin laughs madly as he continues, “Now i can’t have you getting in my way and stopping me from using your son! So let’s get you nice and broken~ nice and obedient~, huh, puppet?!”
Jackie’s screams breaks his kids’ hearts in two. Ollie screams and tries to call out to him and Kelsie tries everything she can to break free. But she can’t break the spell.
Jackie grips at his head, his voice cracking and breaking from the strain of screaming. He kicks out and writhes, begging Marvin to stop, calling out for his kids, calling out for Chase, for Zara. After what feels like an eternity his screams die down and quiet to heavy breathing as his entire eyes flood with green. Jackie’s head falls to the ground dully as the glow dims and his eyes glaze over. Marvin lowers his hand and chuckles, looking pleased.
“Ready to cooperate again, puppet?”
Jackie nods and slowly and stiffly gets up as Marvin grins sadistically and turns back over to gather up Ollie.
Ollie cries and glares at Magnificent as he screams, “Give me back my daddy, you horrible meanie!! Give him back!!”
Marvin doesn’t pay him any heed as he walks over and pops the magic bubble keeping him in place and lightly touches the boy’s forehead. Ollie’s eyes roll up in the back of his head and he falls forward and into Marvin’s arms, fast asleep. The magician smirks, blood starting to fall down his face like tears as he gathers up to the boy and hands him off to Jackie as the father joins them.
“Take good care of him, will you Jackie?” Magnificent teases as Jackie shifts to hold Ollie like he would usually if he fell asleep during the day, with a droned, “yes”. Marvin grins, laughs madly then snaps, the three of them disappearing in what looks like a buzz of static.
The second they leave, Kelsie and Penny crash to the floor. Penny cries and cries as Kelsie tries to control the shaking in her body. She has to do something. That evil man just took her dad and her brother!
She bounces Penny in her arms as she wobbles on shaking legs over to where Stacy is still asleep, a bit of blood leaking from her head. Keslie swallows, biting back fresh tears as she looks for the babysister’s phone. She finds it fallen under the counter and quickly grabs it and unlocks it, scrolling through the contacts until she finds the one she needs. She calls immediately and almost cries in relief when she hears a familiar voice.
“H-Hello? M-Mr. Fantastic?… I-i need your help… “
