Faux locs and intraracial cultural appropriation.

I have faux locs this summer.

I’m not an adherent of Rastafarianism in any way, I’m not from the Caribbean, and I didn’t immigrate to the US from an African nation with a history of dreadlocks.  I’m a Black American from NYC by way of the South who likes low-maintenance hairstyles in the summer.

This is a question I saw on Facebook last night in relation to faux locs and Khloe Kardashian’s niqab:
