With thorough study about the 8 ambassadors that the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam sent to non-Arab states (and we have to take in that these days took place during the birth of Islam) for invitation to embrace Islam, I have tried my best to draw a map of which countries they have gone with the names of the Sahabah Radiyallahu Anhum who went and the rulers that they met.
In 6th Hijrah (Some narrations say 7th Hijrah), so this probably happened during the last months of the 6th year. The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam planned to send letters to the rulers of non-Arab countries through some of his faithful Companions.
The aim of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam was to attract them towards Islam and invite them to convert to this new humane religion.
We have to keep in mind, that the Sahabah Radiyallahu Anhum who set out on this mission were to visit distant lands and that they knew nothing about the language, culture and customs of the people there, neither did they have any knowledge about the etiquette and procedures followed in the courts of these emperors, rulers and kings. (So imagine the danger that there was in this mission.)
This new revolutionary concept of equality of all in the sight of the One True Allah Azza Wa Jall would definitely act like a whiplash on the rulers’ sensitive and proud nature. Hence, the arrogant pride of these all-powerful lords would have to be subjected to the Commands of Allah Azza Wa Jall.
Indeed, the danger that lies in this mission was just astonishing for it was clearly stated in the messages being sent by the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam that their well-being lay in accepting Islam. If they did not do so their kingdoms would be in jeopardy-that all their majesty, their royal thrones, their expensive robes of rustling silk, their rich jewels and gaudy robes and extravagant lifestyle would be all lost.
-We have to again put in our thoughts that the option of jizyah was not an option these rulers even considered.-
Hence, no one could predict how these ambassadors of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam would be treated, with this He Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam ordered that the Sahabah Radiyallahu Anhum to assemble together.
After praising the Almighty Allah, the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam said:
“I intend to send some Companions with an invitation to enter the fold of Islam to the rulers of non-Arab countries. Are you ready to embark on this enterprise?”
(NOW IMAGINE), All replied in UNISON:
“If we are honored by such a mission, we are ready to obey your orders. We will go wherever you wish to send us. We feel happy that you have considered us worthy of doing this job and chosen us.”
When The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam heard this, he selected eight of them for the mission, and they were as follows:

Now, I shared such information after only further research because I wanted to showcase the extraordinary obedience of these people upon the orders of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalam and inevitable courage that Allah Azza Wa Jall has placed in the hearts of these chosen Sahabah Radiyallahu Anhum.
One should know that when these faithful people came to their destinations, not even the extravagance or powerful personality of these rulers devoured their strength.
These Sahabah Radiyallahu Anhum walked into their courts in the most simple clothes, like they are actually laborers of those lands, but these things didn’t shun them from pursuing their mission, and that is to hand over the letter to the said emperors themselves, not through a messenger or guard of such emperor.
Now, this principle and courage of the Sahabah Radiyallahu Anhum should be reflected upon, nowadays, when our parents tell us to take this gift to your other aunt, what do we usually do? We just give it to someone inside the house and tell them to give it to the aunt, right?
But see, these people gave honor and respect to what they were ordered to do so, because they respected and loved their leader, the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam, because every Muslim should do that, should do what they are ordered especially by Allah Azza Wa Jall, your parents should also be respected. If you get what I mean.
We are only asked to do something by someone we love because they believe in us, they trust us, and this amanah is very precious upon Muslims, because like this, it was the trust of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam on these people that made this new revolutionary concept succeed.
So with everything, do you give such emphasis and notice on the “trust” given to you by even your parents? If not, then please reflect from this story.
And we pray that Allah Azza Wa Jall enlightens our hearts to appreciate the people who give us such attention and trust and in return be grateful to Him.
Note: These stories are compiled through a variety of books and with different references, such as: Commanders of the Muslim Army, Kitab al-isabah fi tamyiz al-sahabah, Fada'il As Sahabah and Men Around the Messenger.
If you find any faults in them, then I ask you to please take the good and leave the bad and that may Allah Azza Wa Jall forgive me. Amin.
