Summary: After a brief battle, Sora and Riku are finally properly reunited with Kairi’s help. Though Riku felt that he couldn’t meet Sora with his face and body as it currently is, Sora shoots that line of thought down, claiming that no matter what face Riku has, he will always be Riku. Grabbing both of their hands, Sora promises that the three of them will go back home together…
But Xigbar shoots it down and berates them for not being more aware of the situation they’re in. A fight ensues wherein everyone takes part. Xigbar fakes running out of ammo to lure Sora closer and is about to shoot at point-blank range, but is attacked by Riku. When Xigbar tries to retaliate, Kairi destroys the Heartless, and then Sora lands the final blow.
As Xigbar fades away calling Sora “Roxas”, Sora has finally reached his breaking point, wondering why everyone in the Organization continues to call him by that name. Riku finally reveals to Sora that Roxas was his Nobody, and spent time as part of Organization XIII. Sora argues that even if Roxas is his Nobody he and Roxas are different, and wonders where Roxas is now. Riku tells Sora he’s “here” (in his heart), and finally discloses why he is in Ansem’s form.
Sora is surprised and sad about the revelation that Roxas has “returned” to him…and it seems he looked inside his heart to find Roxas and properly meet him.
The chapter ends with Ansem the Wise and Micky as Ansem is about to set up his Kingdom Hearts Encoder, stating that though he was able to turn heart into data before, facing something as grand as Kingdom Hearts itself is simply a bet.
Summary: As Sora watches Demyx fade away, he starts to wonder whether or not Nobodies really do have hearts. Jiminy is worried, as if Sora is unable to fight both Heartless and Nobodies, then only Donald and Goofy could follow through.
They are attacked by Xigbar because Sora was making such a “serious face”, and proceeds to make remarks similar to those that are in the game. He sets Heartless after them, telling Sora that it’s thanks to him Kingdom Hearts has gotten as big as it is. Not wanting to use his keyblade, Sora starts using magic to fight, which then spurs Xigbar to get in on the action.
Suddenly, Kairi throws her keyblade from the opposite balcony and then calls it back (surprised it actually worked, with Riku praising her from behind). Sora is unable to see what’s going on, but Kairi puts on a brave face, saying that she won’t let Xigbar get away with anything else now that she’s arrived. Riku takes a shot meant for Kairi, and declares himself Xigbar’s opponent while telling Kairi to go help Sora.
Which she does with gusto, claiming that she’s come to save Sora (“IT’S THE OPPOSITE–!!”). Meanwhile, Xigbar is criticizing Sora, saying he isn’t reliable, but Riku shoots back that he knows nothing. Kairi spurs Sora to fight on with the Keyblade despite his reservations–does he just want to let the Organization get their way? Sora’s ready to fight once more–after all, says Riku, as long as they’re around, Sora’s invincible.
Summary: After watching Saix practically kill his friends in one swift motion, Sora is left distraught and comes to the final conclusion that Nobodies really don’t have hearts. Saix reiterates that even so, they know many ways to hurt those who do have hearts and begins a violent battle with Sora. In the midst of the battle, Saix remembers Roxas’s departure from the Organization and vows that he will stop ‘Roxas’ for sure this time.
In the background of this is Luxord, who is revealed to have held onto the real cards and was actually using fakes during his game with Sora. Jiminy Cricket finds this out, revealing that he escaped Luxord’s trap thanks to his speed. After some persuasion, Luxord finally gives in to Jiminy and the two decide to have a fair game following the same rules Luxord gave to Sora. It’s a bit tough for Jiminy, and after flipping one more card thinks that the rest is up to Sora.
As Saix and Sora continue to fight, Saix asks why he continues to do so. His friends–the people he wanted to protect–are now gone, so what is the meaning of continuing to fight alone. In Sora fashion, he proclaims he’s not alone. Inside of him, everyone’s heart is connected to his. The battle finishes with an attack from Sora, and Saix disappears lamenting to Kingdom Hearts. Sora stands crying over the loss of his friends….but as it turns out Jiminy (now exhausted) was able to save them all, and Luxord disappears behind them.
The chapter ends with Sora and co spotting the Kingdom Hearts decoder and heading towards it. As Ansem the Wise tells Mickey that his venture is a failure and urging Mickey to get away from the machine, Xemnas appears from the shadows to great his former teacher.
