“It’s my lucky charm, be sure to bring it back to me!”
A wonderful and beautiful interaction between Sora and Kairi. It’s so intimate, and so simply heartfelt. They show here in this moment that they’re still kids, but trying to be strong to face what’s to come, and how much they care for and love each other deeply. Kairi shows that she doesn’t want to be on the sidelines, that she wants to stand right next to Sora. She’s not content with being a side character with no development, she WANTS to be a part of things. This is also of course right before you receive Oathkeeper, what I like to call the Keyblade of Kairi’s Heart. Though she gets Destiny’s Embrace, this is the Keyblade that I feel truly matters, because it’s her gift to Sora, just as her heart was given to him to protect; a symbolic parallel.
Also, the dialogue interaction after this scene cracks me up when Sora tells Kairi that she’d only just get in the way, and she just takes such an unintentional burn so well, in a way that only our Princess could!
