Just gonna say again that I used a mixture of the movie and book and for this part I did not really use the script/book in order.
~Part 1, Part 2 (you are here), Part 3, Part 4 (coming soon!)~
The door led to a happier and more alive version of the room she came from. Amy stood shocked before an intoxicating smell filled her nose. Her heart lifted and her head cleared at the smell. Amy heard a low voice humming a tune. She decided that the voice could answer her questions. She walked silently as she could, not wanting to alert the voice she was there, in case she saw something that would make her run away in fear. She walked to the kitchen were she found the source of the smell and the voice.
Before Amy could stop herself, she blurted out, “Mark? What are you doing here? I just saw you sleeping.” He turned around and smiled, sweetly. Amy jumped back, looking at him. He was not Mark. Mark did not have button eyes!
“You’re just in time, my love! Dinner is almost ready!” He said as if he was the happiest thing alive. Amy shook her head.
“You’re not my Mark!” Amy said, wide eyed, “My Mark has-he doesn’t have buttons for eyes!” He let out a chuckle, tapping his button eye.
“Like them?” He asked. Amy gripped the door frame as if she was going to fall. “I’m your other boyfriend or other Mark, whichever is easier.” He put on oven mitts and opened the oven, taking out a golden chicken breast. The smell seemed to put a sort of spell over Amy, making her feel more comfortable and hungry.
“Would you please get Jack? He’s in his recording room. Tell him dinner’s ready.” He said. Amy slowly let go of the wall and walked to where Seán’s recording room would be. She knocked on it, quietly.
“Come in!” Seán’s booming voice yelled out. Amy opened it to see Seán smiling at her with green button eyes. It suddenly did not feel right to call him Seán, even in her own mind. She gripped the door knob tight.
“He wanted me to tell you that dinner’s ready.” Amy mumbled. Other Seán nodded. He perked up.
“Hey! Wanna hear me on the drums?” He asked. Amy frowned.
“My Seán said that couldn’t play on the drums. That he needed practice before he could do it again.” Amy said. Other Seán blew a raspberry and waved his hand down.
“But I can. Watch me!” He jumped up from his recording chair and ran to his drums. He grabbed his sticks and started to beat the drums. Amy was shocked to hear him sound so good.
“Making up a song about Ammmyyyy!” He sung. “She’s a great gal, a sweet lass, and a friend of minnne! Doooo doooo dooooo making a song about Ammmyyyy!” Amy held up her hand to her mouth to hide her giggles. Other Seán finished and stood up, bowing. Amy smiled and clapped.
“Alright!” He exclaimed and stopped bowing. “Dinner’s a-waitin’! Don’t wanna make Mark wait too long.” He ran pass Amy and out the door. She felt the need to keep with his hyper energy and ran after him. When they got to the dinner table, her eyes widened, seeing all the food laid out on the table.
In the middle was the chicken she saw Other Mark take out, along with warm and golden dinner rolls, piles of fluffy mashed potatoes (which Other Seán seemed to be salivating at), some pineapple thing, and different kinds of vegetables. Other Mark and Other Seán were sitting, waiting for her. Amy took a seat in the middle of them, eyeing the two. She suddenly felt very cautious again.
“What are we waiting for? Let’s dig in!” Other Seán exclaimed. Other Mark nodded.
“What about the others?” Amy quickly asked. The two looked at her, making her want to melt into the chair and disappear under their creepy stare.
“They said they are planning something big for tomorrow. Wait till you see.” Other Mark grinned. Amy nodded.
“Now, let’s eat! Those potatoes are begging for me to eat ‘em!” Other Seán said, making Amy smile. Maybe things were completely different. This Seán had all the energy and love of potatoes as her Seán did.
Other Mark smiled and clapped his hands. The food started to rotate around, slowly. Amy carefully ripped off a bit of the chicken and put it on her plate. She cut it and took a small bite. Okay, she took back any precautions of this place. This place should never be bad with such wonderful food! She took some of the peas, corn, and potatoes on her plate. She tried to eat as quickly and gracefully as she could. She heard Other Mark laugh.
“You must be really hungry if you’ll eat my food.” He said, smiling and looking in love.
“What? Did you poison it?” Amy asked, raising an eyebrow Mark shook his head and frowned.
“W-What? No! I would never do that to you!” Other Mark said, seeming sad.
“I think he would poison mine though, way before he poisoned yours.” Other Seán snorted. Amy smiled and shook her head.
“Well, I think this is the best food I’ve had in a while! Mark hasn’t cooking in a while and I miss it.” Amy smiled. Other Mark perked up and seemed to be feeding on her validation.
“Thank you!” He nodded. “Want anything else? Perhaps dessert?” Both Amy and Other Seán perked up.
“Hmm… Dessert does sound wonderful but a drink sounds better at the moment.” Amy said. the chandelier dropped before her, showing a myriad of drinks. Her eyes widened, before she picked her favorite coffee.
The dinner went away as Amy took the first sip, closing her eyes to relish in the taste. She opened them to see a cake that said ‘Welcome home!’ in her favorite color. Candles appeared, lighted, atop of icing flowers. Amy frowned.
“Home?” She asked. Other Mark gave her a hopeful look.
“Yes. Home. We have been waiting for you, Amy.” Other Mark said. Amy looked taken aback.
“F-For me?” She asked. The two nodded.
“It’s a lot more fun and exciting with you here.” Other Seán said.
“Um… I… Really?” She asked, not sure how to respond to the two.
“Why would we lie to you?” Other Mark asked. “Any way, I thought we would go on a walk or something after dinner!”
“Oh!” Amy said, surprised. “I-ah- I think I should head back to my Mark-“
“I am you’re Mark, well, I guess other Mark.” He said. Amy frowned.
“Yeah… He’s probably worried and I’m really tired. Yeah. I’m gonna head to bed.” The two nodded.
“Alright, the room’s all made up.” Other Mark said. He got up and put a hand on her shoulder. “Good night, Jack.”
“Good night Mark and Amy!” Other Seán said.
Other Mark grabbed Amy’s hand and lightly pulled her to her feet. Amy took her hand from Other Mark and started to walk away. She tried to walk to the door, but Other Mark redirected her to the stairs. She walked up them and let Other Mark show her the way. He opened to bed room to show a bed fit for a queen, little origami birds flying around the room, and all her pictures taped to the walls moving around. They all turned to look at her and waved.
Amy smiled at all the pictures and turned around as the birds flew around her. Other Mark slipped his arms around her waist and placed his head on her shoulder, smiling.
“Do you like it?” He asked. Amy got caught up in the moment and placed her hands on his hands, sinking in his embrace.
“It’s amazing.” She gasped. “I’m happy you love it. I aim to please.” He hummed. Amy let go of him to turn her head, so she could look at him. She quickly remembered were she was and let go of him. She walked to the bed and slipped off her slippers.
“Yeah. I’m going to bed now.” Amy pulled back the covers and slipped into bed, hoping she could escape by tricking him into thinking she was asleep. She quickly found this an issue as she sunk into the bed, feeling as if she had just laid down in the softest thing to exist.
“I’ll be with you soon,” Other Mark leaned down and placed a kiss on her head. “I have some business to attend to. Just cleaning up the kitchen and what not. Goodnight, my love.”
Amy closed her eyes but not before swearing seeing him fix his outfit.
Amy quickly sat up, breathing heavily. She looked around the room, grasping her covers in the morning light. She calmed down seeing that she was in her room. Not the other room. She looked to the side, seeing Mark was already up. Amy sighed and got out of bed, getting ready for the day.
“No, Mark! I’m telling you it felt so real! You and Seán were there, but you guys weren’t you!” Amy explained as she and Mark ate breakfast. Mark chuckled.
“Amy, you’re making no sense. We checked that door. It was just bricks. Plus, Seán isn’t even here yet,” Mark said, “oddly” He added quietly.
“Well, I know that.” Amy said, playing with her food. She smirked. “But other you was a lot more nice.” Mark rolled his eyes.
“None of my ‘other’ mes are nice. You better be careful your dream Mark with button eyes isn’t tricking you.” Mark said, waving a piece of pancake.
“I think your jealous of him.” Amy teased. Mark shook his head.
“Nah. I don’t think I would be jealous of living with Seán and only seeing someone else occasionally. Actually, that sounds like a nightmare” Amy let out a laugh.
“Ok, Mark.” He smiled at her, before his phone went off. He looked at it and frowned.
“Um, I have to take this.” Mark said, getting up and leaving. “Go see the others for somethin’” He mumbled, leaving a lonely Amy.
“Yeah.” She whispered, getting up to place her plate in the sink and cleaning it. She walked out of the apartment into the cold air. She wrapped her arms around herself and walked over to the boys first. She knocked on the door and got an answer right away.
“Oh, hey, Amy.” Tyler said. Amy smiled.
“Hey! Mind if I hang out?” She asked. Tyler shook his head
“No. Come on. I promise this time we won’t put you to work.” He said as Amy came in.
“I don’t mind.” She said.
“Is that Amy?” Ethan asked, his head poking out of the kitchen. Amy waved.
“In the flesh.” Amy said. Ethan smiled and left the kitchen. They all sat down and talked for a bit. Amy told them about the dream. Ethan seemed very interested.
“Really? That is… strange but interesting.” Tyler said, after Amy recounted her dream. She nodded.
“Ohhhh! I have an idea! Amy, you like tea, right?” Ethan asked. Amy shrugged.
“I don’t mind it. Why?” She asked. Ethan beamed.
“Stay here.” He ran into the kitchen and got her a cup of tea. “Ok, drink most of it, just try not to drink the leaves. I’ll be right back.” He ran back into the bedrooms.
“Um, ok?” Amy said, before starting to drink her tea. Ethan came back with a book.
“Ok, lemme see your cup.” Ethan said. Amy showed him. He nodded and took it.
“Are you reading my tea leaves?” Amy asked. Ethan nodded.
“Yeah. I forgot I had this book and I wanna try it!” Ethan said. “Ok, I think I know what it is. I think this thing, here,” he pointed to some of the tea leaves, “means danger. You better be careful in those dreams.” He smiled, being sarcastic.
Amy rolled her eyes, “Will do, Eth.” Tyler smirked.
“Who knows? Maybe this ‘Other Mark’ is Dark and ‘Other Seán’ is Anti.” Tyler said. The other two giggled.
“Ok, yeah.” Amy said. They continued to talk, before Amy decided to go see Kathryn. She left the two and quickly made her way to Kathryn. She knocked on the door.
“Hey, Amy.” Kat smiled.
“Hey, Kat? Mind if I hang with you?” She asked.
“Nope. We can hang out, just not inside. I want to keep the challenges a surprise.” Kat smiled. Amy chuckled.
“Jeez! What are you plaining?” Amy asked. Kat shrugged.
