okay, but you know what i would love to read? aftg from kevin’s pov.
like, it starts right after riko breaks his hand - it shows him running to wymack because wymack is his father but shows us his fears: of riko, of what riko could do to wymack, of the backlash that could fall on the foxes because of it
i want to know what was going through kevin’s mind when he gave his back to andrew and what their friendship was like pre-neil. i want to know more of kevin’s backstory - about the scars in places no one can see, about the bruises, the broken bones that he had to fight through because riko would not allow him to tarnish their appearances. give me 400 pages detailing kevin’s fears and hopes and dreams, instead of turning him into an exy/alcohol robot.
i want to read about exy being the thing that makes kevin feel close to his mother, about kevin pushing himself to be better for her, i want to read about the pain of losing his mom and how it’s something he still struggles with daily, about him wondering what his life would be like if she had lived.
i want to read about his friendship with jean, how it got to the broken state it is, what riko did to ruin it (and them)
i just want more of kevin, because he is not emotionless, he is not just an exy player. he is a human being who has lived a childhood full of trauma and abuse, while simultaneously being forced to smile and act like nothing is wrong when there are a million eyes on him at all times.
what she says: i can’t believe people just write kevin off as an asshole
what she means: kevin day lost his mother—the only parent he had ever known—at a young age, after which he was taken in by the moriyamas where he was treated like property and not allowed to form emotional bonds. the only significant bond he had previous to this was riko, who spent the rest of his life abusing kevin physically and psychologically while also constantly reminding kevin that he would never be as good as him, never be as worthy as him. the easiest way to avoid bonding with people is to prevent them from WANTING to bond with you, therefore the arrogance, the obnoxiousness and the single-minded determination that was also fueled by his desire to prove riko wrong. underneath all the disdainfulness and obsession kevin is simply a scared little boy that spent a majority of his life afraid of the only person he was allowed to care about.
Kevin headcanons cuz @klanced thinks we forgot him (tbh who the fuck is Kevin)
- Kevin is the middle child, younger than Shiro but older than Keith but he was adopted last
-Kevin sometimes feels out of place because Shiro and Keith have spent so much time together but then they put his underwear in the freeze and he knows he’s home
-Kevin is the most hypocritical shit you will ever meet. He’ll leave his stuff everywhere but once Keith or Shiro leave their clothes on the floor, he breaks out a two hour lecture with PowerPoints.
-Kevin calls him and his brothers the Gay Bros™
-Shiro: Actually, Kevin I’m bi
-The Gay Bros and that one Bisexual™
-Whenever Keith curses, Shiro turns into the overbearing mother and Kevin is the disappointed father. Those trashbags curse every other sentence smh.
-Shiro: Kevin, where’s Keith?
Kevin: In the dining room, eating ice cream.
Shiro: You do know he’s lactose intolerant, right?
Shiro: And you didn’t stop him.
Kevin: I found the best method is to let him suffer.
Shiro:….He took the last brownie, didn’t he?
Kevin: TRIPLE CHOCOLATE BROWNIES, SHIRO. TRIPLE CHOCOLATE.
- You think Keith is extra, Kevin painted himself rainbow for pride day.
-“I don’t know, man. Shiro and Keith are pretty hot.”
“Aren’t you guys siblings?”
“What? You don’t acknowledge your siblings’ beauty? What kind of family are you?”
-Kevin secretly looks up to both his siblings. He loves them a lot. Don’t tell them that.
-“No smoking in the building, sir.”
“This is a lollipop.”
“Why is it smoking?”
“Because I’m licking it so fast.”
“What do you take me for?”
*pulls out stick to reveal a lollipop*
“What the fuck?”
-“What the fuck, Kevin” is a common phase used by anyone who knows him.
-“It’s not pink, it’s light red.”
-Keith: It’s fucking pink.
-Kevin keeps receipts. He knows all the embarrassing stories, time and place.
-All in all, Kevin loves his bros and they love him.
A friendly reminder that Dean is afraid to fly and Sam is afraid of clowns. Charlie was afraid of losing her mom. Kevin feared for his mother’s safety. Everyone feels afraid sometimes, and that’s okay.
That Dean helped his brother through his grief over Jess and yet didn’t feel worthy to let Sam help him grieve after his time in Hell. That Dean blames himself for things that are often out of his control. Dean had, and still sometimes struggles with, self-hating thoughts but continues to try to do good whenever, however, and wherever he can.
A reminder that Castiel lost his way and felt like he didn’t belong anywhere, until he found safety and family with Dean and Sam. That even though he did everything he could with good intentions at heart, things don’t always go according to his plan. He never lets that stop him from taking action where he feels it is needed.
That Sam’s dreams for his life never reached what he had expected; he never got into law school, never married the love of his life. But that’s okay; Sam is still doing a lot of good in the world, and still finding other kinds of love, even though his life had to fall apart first.
A reminder that so much good has been done by these three, even if all they seem to focus on is the bad that they’ve inflicted. That the world might not notice all of the sacrifices they’ve had to endure to make the world safer and better, and they often don’t even see it themselves, but WE do. Someone does.
And someone notices you, too, and everything you do for the people around you. The things you do to try to make the world a better place. For all of the good you have put out there in the world; odds are it’s so much more than you realize. You are made of strength and light and love, no matter what demons and hell you might be staring down right now. Please, try to remember that. And in the times you might forget, know that you aren’t alone.
When you meet the right person, you know it. You can’t stop thinking about them. They are your best friend, and your soulmate. You can’t wait to spend the rest of your life with them. No one and nothing else can compare.
Kevin Day and his adoptive brother Riko Moriyama were hailed as the sons of Exy. Kevin’s mother Kayleigh Day and Riko’s uncle Tetsuji Moriyama created the sport roughly thirty years ago while Kayleigh was studying abroad in Fukui, Japan. What started as an experiment spread from their campus to local street teams, then across the ocean to the rest of the world. Kayleigh brought it home with her to Ireland after completing her degree and the United States picked it up soon after.
Human beings are part of nature, nature is not dependent on human beings to exist.
Human beings, on the other hand, are totally dependent on nature to exist.
The growing number of people on the planet and how we live here is going to determine the future of nature and the future of us.
Nature will go on, no matter what, it will evolve.
The question is, will it be with us or without us?
If nature could talk, it would probably say it doesn’t much matter either way.
We must understand there are aspects of how our planet evolves that are totally out of our control, but there are things that we can manage, control and do responsibly that will allow us and the planet to evolve together.
We are Conservation International and we need your help.
Our movement is dedicated to managing those things we can control better, country by country, business by business, human by human.
We are not about us vs. them, it doesn’t matter if you’re an American, a Canadian or a Papua New Guinean, and you don’t even have to be particularly fond of the ocean or have a soft spot for elephants.
This is simply about all of us coming together to do what needs to be done, because if we don’t, nature will continue to evolve. Without us.
