Let’s make this very clear: Taylor did not just “throw money” at Kesha. Taylor did not just give money to someone who “doesn’t need it”. Kesha VERY much needs the money. Firstly, to help contribute to breaking off her contract with Sony and secondly, to support herself financially and pay legal fees. Don’t you remember that she hasn’t made music to sell for years and hence she probably doesn’t have a good amount of income to deal with this situation? The fact that Kesha’s own mom supports Taylor’s money donation and y'all are saying that just tweeting #FreeKesha and typing 140 Characters is going to help. By donating money, Taylor is helping Kesha far more than anyone who just tweets does. And she didn’t even intend for it to become public, Kesha’s mom revealed it in a tweet. So no more “Taylor throws money and does this for attention”, she’s genuinely helping a rape victim who requires the money.
taylor swift just donated $250,000 to kesha and we only know about it because kesha’s mom tweeted about it….so just because taylor never posted anything on social media doesn’t mean that she hasn’t been reaching out to kesha :)) taylor is known for doing things like this without posting about it and wanting recognition. so yall can shut up about her “”staying silent”” and being a “”fake feminist””
You see, it would have been so easy for Taylor to just tweet the hashtag like every other celebrity. 140 characters, 15 seconds, zero thought. But she chose to quietly help move Kesha 1/8 the way closer to her freedom, and all without ever trying to take credit for herself—we only just found out from Kesha’s mom tonight. Aside from Tree’s confirmation, Taylor has yet to even acknowledge the donation. She did it because she wanted to help a fellow artist, not to score some cheap PR for herself on twitter. The mark of a real man or woman is what they do, and why. Not just what they say.
I would just like to point out that had kesha’s mom not tweeted about it we may never have found out about taylor’s donation. Things go on behind closed doors and it’s ridiculous to attack people for not saying anything publicly.
