This is an absolutely beautiful piece. It’s written by Kerrigan & Lowdermilk for their new musical Republic, which is a piece set in 1970s Ireland, based on Shakespeare’s Henry IV. We’ll probably post more from this musical.
this is the kind of thing i find incredibly sad: losing friends in seemingly-mundane circumstances. yeah, i'm that girl – the one who’s always been dropped. i have this thing where i befriend 2 best friends, they throw me in the middle in a tug of war (literally, in one instance in high school), they make up, and then they leave me behind. that’s what sort of sounds like happened to this character – he had something that they thought was great going with someone and then they’re breaking up and he’s kind of caught off guard by it and now appropriately mad about it.
so that’s Jessica’s super-personal story of the night. (and now i want to go drink by myself. this song pick was perfect.)
Say The Word The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown
This was actually one of the first Laura songs I’d ever heard, and I fell in love at first listen. Kerrigan and Lowdermilk are absolute geniuses– probably one of the best new musical theatre composer (duo)s of our time– and well. Laura is flawless as ever.
