Another canon-era Javid headcanon because I’m feeling them at the moment
Davey spends a lot of time pretending he’s not in love with Jack
He tells himself he’s staring because Jack is interesting, says interesting stuff. He only misses him when he has to go back to school and only sell papers on weekends because the kids at school are horrible to him and Jack is sweet. He only dreams about him because he’s a teenager with hormones that don’t behave.
Eventually he realises he’s attractive to him and that only makes him vehemently deny it more. He’s convinced he can’t be alone with Jack in case he does something he regrets.
That only lasts so long. There’s a bunch of them up on the rooftop of the lodging house and everyone leaves one by one until it’s just Davey and Jack.
Jack’s stood there in the moonlight and he’s gorgeous and grinning and Davey can’t do this anymore. He’s seen the way Jack looks at people, looks at everyone. Because it’s the same way, boys and girls. Davey reckons he’s not going to get beat up for trying something. So he does.
It’s a fast, damp kiss and it’s Davey’s first but even he knows it’s awful
But then the second one is better. And the third one is great and Jack’s grinning more and no one can see them so it’s Davey who initiates the forth again.
He can’t pretend he’s not in love anymore. But he doesn’t really want to.

What was the best present you’ve ever gotten for Christmas? Oh gosh. There’ve been lots. I should say something very sentimental, shouldn’t I? But no, you know what is the most memorable? Is when I was in first grade, I heard something crying and screeching in a box and I woke up, but I was too scared, ‘cos I thought Santa was, you know, I’d see Santa and I was gonna wait it out… [for abb-yroad]
