keep the magic alive

For thousands of years, you have been cursed to grant the wishes of mortals. The problem is that you don’t really have magic, besides the one keeping you alive and bound, which means you have to jump through hoops and come up with creative but shockingly mundane ways in order to fulfill them. One day, a girl trudges through a dystopian wasteland to find you and for her first wish, asks for the downfall of a tyrannical king.

Heroes Of Olympus ~ Pirate AU

- Annabeth is head of the ship, obviously

- Nico and Hazel, the siblings, are her shared 1st mates

- Jason is the scout. Loves heights and lives up in the bird’s nest.

- Frank is the big-bad-buff man. Man’s the cannons, god bless his non-violent heart and sensitive ears. Him and Hazel are openly together, lucky them.

- Leo is the ship’s repairman. He built the thing from scratch.

- Will Solace and Piper are both prisoners from Reyna and Octavian’s ship. They’re escorting Princess Dare and Duchess Calypso (This is just random for the sakes of it)

- There’s this big fight between them, and Will and Piper are taken among others as prisoners.

- Leo was taken by the other crew.

- Piper uses her crazy love-voodoo magic to keep them alive because the lot of them are dead weights. She barely gets herself pulled back on board, and doesn’t save everyone.

- Jason isn’t fooled. He sees right through it, but he can’t bring himself to call her out.

- Nico’s technically always in charge of their cargo, like prisoners and such, whilst Hazel helps Annabeth keep the ship in order.

- You can see where this is going: prompted by this post

- He’s kind of like “who the fuck is this guy. He’s so hot. I mean stubborn. Thinks he’s the captain. I think he’s gorgeous an idiot.”

- And will just wants to stay alive so he tries to work the angle he has

- Ends up falling head over heels finding himself slightly attracted to Nico. More than he bargained.

- Meanwhile, Jason confronts Piper. She basically says “and?” And they move on, falling in love and all things sappy.

- Meanwhile, Annabeth is trying to ask Reyna for their forces to join, giving back what (Or who) was stolen from each other and standing together against Gaia, of whom Reyna’s crew would be outnumbered against.

- Gaia had an armada of ships. They needed to stand together if they want to survive

- Percy our main man, he’s Annabeth’s secret merman lover. Annabeth had met him when she was little and they had been close ever since. She roamed the seas and he roamed right behind her.

- Just? Frank? Finding a black haired, green eyed boy with their captain as she’s steering, late at night? He’s wearing a tightly woven fishing net around his waist but nothing else?

- He tells Hazel and Hazel is like Frank that’s a merman oh god Annabeth is with a merman?

- Meanwhile Jason and Piper hide up in the bird’s nest because no one but him likes it there

- And Will is driving Nico mad but he refuses to let himself fall for a prisoner

- And Annabeth’s boyfriend is a merman.

- And Leo falls in love with Calypso. He’s technically a stow away, but bothers Calypso so much that she falls for him (Sound familiar?)

- Octavian gets eaten by sharks. Oops. Annabeth suspects Percy. Percy is indifferent, as usual. He totally had sharks eat Octavian, and Annabeth knows it.

I just love this AU. This was longish. Sorry. :P

262.  Slytherins keep magical prose alive at Hogwarts. Most Ravenclaws want knowledge, most Gryffindors are crazy about Quidditch and most Hufflepuffs were just never introduced to it. Especially Muggleborns don’t think that far. Slytherins, however, have learned from their families and read ancient poetry and entrancing novels written by a witch or wizard. They do so openly in the common room and if someone asks them, they will gladly pass on all their knowledge.

Joys of Parenting, Yuletide edition....

Ordered stuff on amazon or other sites because I have no time to get to stores too often now that I am working full time…

So the stuff is getting to the house and the daughter is texting me, wanting to know what is in the boxes.

Said not to worry about it…she keeps insisting…so I said that if she doesn’t stop being nosy, Krampus will pay a visit….she Googled it and was ‘nope nope nope , nevermind’….

I wanna start watching ancient magnum bride but what te heck is it about??????

The OVAs we have so far (two parts out of four three) are a companion story to the manga and don’t really follow the main plot (there may be a full anime series coming this fall though?? Unsure).

The manga is about Chise, a gal with some special abilities bought by this fella Elias, a non-human magus/mage, who intends to teach Chise magic, keep her alive (people with her abilities tend to burn out and die young!), and eventually make her his bride.

This mighty be throwing up all kinds of Wow Unhealthy red flags for you. But the writing is handled fantastically and this odd situation that could have easily turned into one of your standard Weird Gross Anime IPs is instead something super cool and awesome. First off, Elias not being human and not understanding how humans work is a HUGE part of his character and development. Secondly, all Elias’ human pals are immediately like Elias What The Fuck You Can’t Buy People Because We Said You Need An Apprentice Chise Here Is My Number If You Need Help Don’t Hesitate To Call. And thirdly, Chise seems cool with all of this and agrees to teach Elias How To Human better while he teaches her magic and the whole bride thing is like almost never mentioned again.

Over time, the manga delves into things like “Why the fuck does Chise seem cool with this?”, “Chise why are you doing that stop?”, “Both of y’all have an unhealthy attachment to each other please get out of the house sometimes”, “Elias why are you acting like a pouting baby?”, “Elias, no you can’t control everything all the time.”, “By the way, what the fuck are you?” Also this one dude is trying to fuck everything up and there’s all these other ppl who want Chise for shit.

In short (lil too late for short lol), its about two emotionally stunted, lost, and confused people living on the outskirts of their respective societies, slowly realizing things about themselves and working past their flaws and figuring themselves out. And as they grow as people, they grow together as closer companions. Though framed as a romance, that’s really not the focus of it. The focus is more about them becoming healthy and good people. The growth feels natural and appropriate, and I love that.

Also LOTS OF COOL MYTHOLOGY SHIT HELL YEAH. YAMAZAKI KORE DID HER DAMNED RESEARCH OK. If NONE of what i just said grabs you then you could read for the mythological shit alone. It’s great.
I think that’s it. Other fans feel free to add to this,,,

You can read it here (which has a nice description itself)
And the OVA bits are on crunchyroll

Hope you check it out!

Imagine

Christmas at the Layton household:

-Alfendi disproving the existence of Santa Claus, much to Flora’s dismay. She’s trying to keep the magic alive for Kat.

-Watching terrible Christmas specials on T.V. Polar Express is a common favourite.

-The kids remind their father to stop working for once.

-Visits from various friends and family members. There’s Grandpa and Grandma with her knitted Christmas jumpers. Luke gets everyone teddy bears. Uncle Desmond flies in on the Bostonius, giving Alfendi a mace, Flora a sword and Katrielle a slingshot. Emmy gives the family a brimming photo album. The list goes on.

-Rosa comes over to help Flora with the Christmas dinner.

-A family game of Cluedo.

Malec shippers. They get hardcore flirting, teasing, a wedding showstopping kiss, dates, feelings, relationship drama, the angst of keeping half of the OTP alive out of magic, hand holding and the need to stay alive because eternal life is meaningless without this boy. A silly gift that means I want this, I want to be yours because it’s the first time you’ll be mine and I’m different from all you’ve had so far.

Merthur shippers would kill for magic to bring back that loved one, to be more powerful, to have the skill of centuries and the knowledge to command the darkness that claimed the man who made him wish to live. The prat, the clotpole, my lord, my king, my Arthur, I can’t lose him… Cursed to forever waiting, may someday, one day.

Sterek shippers would kill for a kiss that would hide the best bits behind closed doors and fade to black. Plaid and leather in the bedroom floor as they pin each other against the wall for the right reasons. Something more than a look across the room, a dying stare, the wet memories of holding his sourwolf 2 hours to save his life, watching him grow, live, love… and leave.

Destiel shippers would kill for the showstopping love declaration. Dark angel wings wrapping around a speechless man who’s suffered and shouldered the pain of his family and his own feelings, ready to be dragged from perdition once more and taught how to love without fear.

Hannigram shippers would kill for some uncomplicated feelings, less blood, less pain, more time together. Less making you miss me, making you need me by poisoning your mind so you cannot live without me. Or too broken to live with me.

Stormpilot shippers would kill for more than a few hours of longing stares, a jacket that was mine and now it’s yours along with my heart before you came back to base all broken and silent, hurt saving someone else.

Malec shippers have canon on their side, books showing all the love and desire and they’re eager, desperate for more. In a world where every second they are together is a miracle we envy so much. May they get more time. All the time. ANY time.

34% Magnus needing to save Alec but the only way to do it is to make him immortal but in doing so has a chance of him not being a shadowhunter anymore and breaking his bond with Jace

“I don’t know what to do.” Magnus said, walking around the room in a hurry.

Alec was slipping–he had received a wound from a demon that was taking him out. It was going to kill him, and so far there was only enough magic to keep him barely alive for the next couple of minutes. They couldn’t return him to the Institute, but Jace had followed Magnus to his apartment. He was trying very hard not to cry, in the same way Magnus was trying very hard not to panic.

“Jace.” Magnus said. When Jace didn’t answer, his eyes on his hands, that were soaked in Alec’s blood, Magnus snapped, “JACE!”

Witchy Art Challenge Day 1: A witchsona

This is sorta close to what I look like? And why no shoes? I have a love hate relationship with them. I would be that witch that goes around to all the kids and show them little tricks to keep the magic alive in their hearts. (I’m also trying out a new brush and I think I’m keeping it)

This is for the 31 Day Witchy Art Challenge by @modernwitchesdaily! Here’s the 31 day lineup

thevikingwoman  asked:

for DWC: “Are you sure that’s the decision you want to make?” Abelas, please? :)

Yay, more Abelas for @dadrunkwriting

A resounding crack filled the courtyard. Athera stumbled backward, staff up in a protective posture. The way he moved was like water, no, wind. She could hardly tell from which direction he was going to strike next. His stance gave her nothing to go on, and he was quick and merciless in his attacks.

He’d suggested they spar after watching her casting style very closely. “Do they not teach the mage children how to defend themselves anymore?” He’d scoffed. “Magic alone will not keep you alive. It is unreliable in this changed world and it may fail you. You must learn to put that staff to better use.”

She’d made an inappropriate joke that had fallen upon unamused ears. Abelas was always scowling, sullen, like a grumpy old man though he was young in appearance.

He swung again, this time knocking her feet out from under her with a sweep behind the knees. Athera fell hard on her butt, her staff spinning out of her hands, and out of her reach. She dove for it, but Abelas was in front of her, the edge of his staff dangerously close to her face.

Well, she thought. He didn’t say which staff…She grabbed onto it with both hands and pulled as hard as she could. The dark-haired elf caught a glimpse of golden eyes blown wide in shock before he came down on top of her with an angry grunt. They scuffled, both their staves having rolled away somewhere. Laughing in triumph, Athera managed to top him, straddling his stomach with a fist drawn back. He caught the blow in the palm of his hand without much of an effort.

“Are you sure that’s the decision you want to make?” He asked, eyeing her other fist. She tried to hit him again, and again, he caught her, pinning her two wrists together in one hand. She struggled to pull away, but he was stronger than he looked…and with that silly golden armor hugging the curve of each muscle, he looked fairly strong to begin with.

He was smirking. Damn him, he was smirking! And it didn’t look half bad on him, either. With those eyes, the way the bridge of his nose arched, the way that beautiful olive skin curved around his lips…Athera was about to scold herself, when a thought occurred to her. He kept telling her to be unpredictable…

“Inquisitor, what–” He was silence when her lips crashed into his, rather sloppily, but it was effective. His eyes widened and jaw dropped as he stared at her incredulously. She laughed, somersaulted backwards off of him, and came up, staff in hand. She leveled it at his chest with a shit-eating grin.

“Pretty sure that’s my win,” she panted.

Abelas pushed himself to his feet, glowering at her. “I suppose so,” he conceded. His expression relaxed into something that might almost have been called a smile. “Not bad, Lavellan. Perhaps there is hope for the Dalish yet.”

A Daily Witchcraft Routine

Hey there! In my personal experience, a big mistake the newbies and more-experienced witches alike make is trying to separate their magical life from their everyday life. This isn’t to say that you need to make everything that you do magical…I think that it’s healthy to make sure that witchcraft doesn’t erase you from the ‘normal’ world. However, if you hide witchcraft in corners of your life and try to squeeze your practice into nothing more than weekend witchcraft, are you really getting the most out of your magical practice? I think that the best thing that we can do as witches is find small ways to incorporate magic into the ‘real’ world. This keeps magic alive in your mind and makes sure that you don’t *fall out of practice*. Just a disclaimer: I am not the grand poobah of witchcraft, and your personal practice may be completely different than mine. You don’t need to follow my advice or force yourself to practice the way that I practice. These are just some little ideas that may help you to incorporate witchcraft into your everyday routine :) (psssst: I italicized some of the ideas that I think are especially important)

Morning:

-Wake up and smell the roses! If you worship any deities, say a quick morning prayer to them (try these!)

-If you have time, do some energy work. I like to make sure that I shield myself every day, but, if you have extra time, try grounding and centering as well!

-Charge your morning drink or meal with some helpful energy for the day. Program it with confidence, happiness, or anything else to help you out.

-Draw a helpful sigil somewhere. Draw it on your breakfast with a toothpick, draw it somewhere hidden on your body, or paint it on with makeup or facewash.

-Draw a tarot/rune/lenormand/oracle card for the day :)

Afternoon:

-If you work with any deities, spirits, or other entities, set aside a small portion of your lunch as an offering. If possible, return it to the Earth, but if your situation doesn’t allow it, simply place it in the trash or down the sink.

-Drink some water. Get all nice and hydrated, and imagine it filling you with the elemental energy of water.

-If you’re a highschool or college witch, try storing some little magical sachets  in your book bag or locker. Use them to help give you confidence, focus etc. You could also draw little sigils on your books, papers etc.

Evening:

-Set aside a little time for something witchy. Whether it’s five minutes or an hour, take a bit of time to enhance your practice. Maybe do some research, or cast a spell. Practice some energy work, or meditate. It doesn’t have to be a long time– just a take a little time to be magical.

-When you lay down in bed to go to sleep, shield yourself or make a shield around you and your bed to protect you while you sleep.

-If you work with any deities, you might want to say a little evening prayer of thanks before you go to sleep.

Like I said, these are just some ideas on how to incorporate magic into your day. You don’t have to do all of these things, but they can definitely be great ways to keep magic fresh in your life. If you have any questions, feel free to send me an ask. Thanks for reading,
