keep only what you need

About Keith probably starting things w Lance at the Garrsion, I don't really think Keith likely just not noticing/ ignoring him is a legitimate reason for any of Lance's antagonism. I get that for Lance he might have taken being ignored by someone he respected/ looked up to personally, but that's actually fairly immature for him to have held onto that feeling for so long. For Lance he thinks he's known Keith since before Voltron, while for Keith Lance was a stranger -two different situations.

gnotblue replied to your post “I know Lance can put his bias towards Keith aside when their’s an…”

disagree. maybe as leader it’s Keith’s responsibility to encourage Lance, but as peer? whatever happened in the garrison, Keith doesn’t remember- & Lance just doesn’t stop picking him as target for his personal attacks. Keith reacts and sometimes starts it, but he also tried to get out of their pattern more than once. s. the bonding moment.

I already said this before, but I think if Keith didn’t remember Lance, Lance would be lying on the floor together with the doctors in seconds, for trying to interrupt Keith back there and get his hands on Shiro.

Like, Keith is not the most trusting person, you know… He’s like super suspicious of everyone at first and is very careful, no matter how harmless or friendly the strangers might seem. (And Lance didn’t even look friendly when he walks in on him, he literally goes “nonono you’re not taking Shiro”)

Which makes me think Keith not only clearly remembers Lance, But he also trusts him. (with Shiro, his “most prized possession” haha, so that means alot.)

I really don’t think Keith would let them come along with him to his secret hideout with a guy he just stole from the Garrison, if he didn’t trust them.

So he probably knows alot more about them than he lets them believe.

(Also unlike Shiro, he could have totally recognized Pidge as Matt’s sister right away, maybe even at the Garrison, maybe he even somehow knew about what she was doing to find out what happened on that mission, because he might have been doing the same thing, and then just kept quiet about her identity because he wanted her to reveal her secret when she was ready)

Bottom line, if he was ok with taking them with him, he probably knew all three of them well enough to really trust them. (Or maybe even just trusted Lance enough to also trust his friends)

And this line “oh I remember you, you’re a cargo pilot

Like it sounds so freaking condescending. And I don’t think Keith is someone who looks down on people’s jobs or has some “I’m a fighter pilot” ego thing.

That’s a clear jab at Lance. Why? because he knows Lance really wanted to be a fighter pilot and ended up in cargo. And Lance walks in there all like “nononono IM saving Shiro” like trying to one up Keith and not like actually just give him a hand, so Keith gets pissed and is all “new phone, who dis?” cuz he knows it would piss off Lance and will kinda get him off his high horse. But also it might totally go a bit deeper than that.

Because I think it’s like Keith always pretends like he dun care about this rivalry thing. BUT HE DOES.

Lance gets to him.

No matter how many people say their rivalry is just in Lance’s head and he’s the only one that pushes this rivalry on them. It’s not.

I think Keith wouldn’t respond to him like that or try to get back at him and annoy him if there wasn’t something to it.

This wouldn’t have happened if it was just in Lance’s head:

Keith would’t crash his lion there, he would play along and just let Lance crash his lion. But he obviously was really serious about showing Lance who’s the better pilot or that he’s just as daring as him.

And like when they are training, he makes Lance walk into walls and a dead end on purpose!!! And is all “why you’re not listening Lance??”

He doesn’t exactly tries to be the bigger man, he gets back at him for everything! Keith picks on Lance just as much as Lance picks on him, he’s just kinda more sneaky about it, so he doesn’t gets caught on it, so it wouldn’t appear like Lance actually gets to him.

Or I dunno, maybe he does it cause its just fun to annoy Lance.

Like this shit here, was totally uncalled for (and this was after “bonding moment”). And Keith started this one.

There’s like alot of little things he does to annoy Lance for no good reason… And the only time he kinda tried to reach out to him and put a stop to this I think was in the comics, when he says “Good job, Lance!”

(The bonding moment was Lance reaching out to Keith, by kinda showing him what he is really hoping for, for them all to be a good team and for him and Keith to kinda be you know “space ranger partners” and not rivals I guess). Keith just smiled approvingly but then he was back at picking on Lance again!)

I don’t think Lance is the kind of person who is looking for strife. He’s super friendly and he really wants to get along with people, so I really have my doubts about him starting this whole “not getting along with Keith” thing. I feel like he most likely just responds to Keith’s attitude towards him.

And you know, I don’t think Lance was lying there in the first episode when he said “You know, Lance and Keith, neck and neck.”

I dun think Lance is a bad pilot. I think he’s a reckless pilot, a daring pilot, but I think he’s not as bad as the team makes it seem in terms of skills.

So my theory is that Keith finally had someone who caught up to him in flight school, and he didn’t really like that. (probably liked Lance, but not the fact he can potentially be a better pilot) I think Lance challenged him, and that was the source of their totally real rivalry. (And why Lance would be the perfect person to take over Red)

(I mean Keith and Lance are kinda similar after all, they both sometimes do reckless things and act like hot heads and then kinda get at each other for doing the same things..)

And like I have to say that I personally think Keith and Lance have the most brotherly, sibling like relationship if there ever was one (no, it’s not Keith and Shiro, I actually find it odd so many people see THAT relationship as brotherly because I literally have never met two siblings or bros that act like that..)

Like to me Keith and Lance are like siblings that have like a year, two years or so apart. And Lance is kinda like the younger sibling that can’t quite catch up to or really get back at the older one, And Keith is the older sibling that just has fun teasing the younger one all the time but really wants him to succeed and yet still gets super annoyed if the younger one beats him at anything.

And like since I’m sure it’s very important for both of them to get recognition and praise from Shiro (who’s gonna be the parent figure in this case), So Lance is kinda like the child that always feels like Keith is the favorite and dad always takes his side..

(Even tho space dad does love all his kids equally.. I think Shiro deals with Lance in a good way, I hope Keith learns from him)

Like I mean, the drones thing was such a siblings thing to do! Like Keith just pushes Lance’s drone out of the way and is all “Sorry! Gotta be quick” and they start fighting

And Dad is all “Knock it off, you two! Play nice!”

And Lance is “KEITH STARTED IT!!!“

I dunno, if you have siblings (im not sure how its with sisters tho) but if you have brothers who are close to you in age I’m sure u can understand exactly what I’m talking about here.

So I dunno, it’s very clear to me they both really love eachother and care for eachother. And will show it, but won’t actually like, admit it to eachother..

Like even the bonding moment

Keith did not punch Sendak.

Lance did not shoot his arm off.

So I think it’s safe to assume Keith didn’t actually cradle Lance in his arms at any point.

This is them still bonding by just making shit up and teasing eachother. It’s not as serious as ppl make it out to be. It’s a very friendly exchange, a blossoming bromance. (and yes, so far it does seems like just bromance to me, ofcourse it might change in the future, but so far these two seasons that’s all I’m getting form them)

They both know they kinda bonded back there and had this very uncharacteristic tender moment and are kinda backtracking on it but in a sibling kind of way, like “ew I would never get along with you” but I’m sure they both know they are just messing around there.

Like Keith and Lance to me are the epitome of your common sibling relationship.

They are the “I love you to death and would die for you, but I would never admit it to your face, and i’ll only talk shit to your face but will beat anyone else who does, and will only say good things about you behind your back”

Like, it’s clear Keith and Lance really like eachother. Keith doesn’t actually hate Lance and Lance doesn’t hate Keith. They’re just you kno… bros in the making. And they both act like idiots sometimes.

But for them to get along better, Keith (as the person who’s kinda in the position of the older sibling the younger one really admires and wants to be friends with) has to stop doing this shit where he purposely insults and picks on Lance, yes. Specially as the team’s leader.

The Downstairs Bathroom

This is geared mainly toward my fellow fic writers, but I’m open to anyone’s input.

In Gilmore Girls, a downstairs bathroom is referenced more than once (we know Rory had her bras drying in it when Lorelai was dating Max, and we know Lorelai’s bathroom upstairs is the “good bathroom”), however, we never actually see said downstairs bathroom, or see where the heck it would actually be.

I think they meant the door across from Rory’s room, next to the kitchen to be this mysterious bathroom until they needed a closet for Lorelai to hide Rory’s Dean box in, and then it became the closet instead of the bathroom.

My question is, how do you deal with this in your head?

Do you turn the closet back into the bathroom?

Do you pretend there’s just a second door hidden somewhere that happens to be the bathroom?

Do you just totally disregard the bathroom entirely and keep the closet?

Do you have some other way around it?

Am I obsessing too much? (don’t answer that one, please, I ALREADY KNOW THAT ANSWER, THANKS). ;)

rani-amami  asked:

Do you have any tips about writing the exposition?

Ah, yes. The exposition. Come with me.

The thing with exposition is that you can very easily lose your readers in it. I know I have found myself skipping (consciously or not) paragraphs or even pages if I don’t find the information in them engaging enough as they delve into explaining things, whether it is an event’s background, world building, character, the works. Now, this happening once ain’t so bad, but if someone keeps skipping chunks of what you’re writing, chances are, they’ll stop reading. (Unless. Unless. But this is besides the topic.)

It can be dreadful. I’m sure we’ve all been there, wondering if it will ever end and we’ll get back to the characters actually talking and doing things. And that is what you want to avoid, so:

  • Be ruthless. When writing, do feel free to overwrite if you’re that type, but when editing, ditch everything that does not serve your purpose. Whittle anything unnecessary and sharpen the information you deliver until it reaches piercing levels.
  • Be efficient. Pack as much detail into as little words as possible. Combine pieces of information along with character actions, along with description. Limit your exposition and space it out. Too much in a single place, you lose punch.

Do it as if you were telling the story to a friend or, even better, a group of strangers: strangers only offer as much interest as you compel them to give you. You want to tell only what’s necessary to make the anecdote work, otherwise, they’ll begin to ignore you, and stuff will be awkward. You don’t want awkward, now do you? You need to tell them what they need to know, and you need to keep only what is essential for them to understand what is going on.

Also, even if you have to provide a lot of information on something, dullness is your enemy. If you have a good voice, anything can be of interest; use humor, wit, or otherwise interesting imagery in order to inform your readers in an entertaining way.

Transformation Diet

Transforming your body into the way you want it to be, will require disciplining yourself and things you eat… BUT more importantly, also, WHEN you eat…

For the next 15 -20 weeks the I will follow a diet that will optimize the way the body function.

  • NO DAIRY (especially fatty dairy like Cream Cheese, Butter, Oily Milk)
  • CUT OUT ALL SUGARS (as much as possible) (Ice cream, chocalate, caramel, sweets)

1. When you wake up. Eat something small immediately, this snack could be moderately sweet/can include natural sugar. This will be the sweetest thing you can eat in the day… For example: Dates, Fruits, Agave, Nutrient Bars, Cereals (with Soy/Almond Milk), and Honey

2. Try to not eat until you workout. UNLESS you workout in the evening/night, in that case again only eat what you need to keep you going, no big meals, just small snacks. Space out your consumption as well so your body is somewhat hungry.

3. After the workout, you will be exhausted!!! GOOD JOB! You minimized the calorie intake all day and forced your body’s to burn its excess energy (AKA FAT).  Now the best move you can make is to go home drink protein and eat a large meal. This meal can be highest calorie meal of the day, but consume QUALITY CALORIES. Meats (lean beef, turkey, chicken, tuna), Beans (any kind, I like black beans, but try not to eat anything fried), Nuts (almonds, pistachios, peanuts [though technically peanuts are legumes] ,etc…) , and Carbs (Bread, RICE, PASTAS etc…) CAN and SHOULD BE INCLUDED.

THESE FOODS ARE WHAT THE DIET SHOULD BE COMPOSED OF, LEAN Sources of PROTEIN, Vegetables, and essential Carbohydrates.

4. If you workout early, then try to minimize calorie intake after the workout by eating small meals throughout the day… AGAIN stick to the same food groups you eat for your large meal.

5. DON’T EAT LATE AT NIGHT. Unless you just workout … AND IF YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO GIVE YOURSELF ATLEAST 3 Hours to DIGEST the FOOD. Going to sleep hungry is fine… being hungry means that your body is tapping into your excess energy.

6. MAINLY HYDRATE YOURSELF BY DRINKING WATER. Coconut Water is fine as well… but mainly water.

NOTE: To get better results replace the foods you love with alternatives. There are breads made without any wheat.

  • Quinoa is a high protein rice replacement,
  • Black Bean Pasta replacement delivering a WOMPING 25g of protein a serving.
  • Whole wheat alternatives also suffice.
  • Almond/Soy milk are great replacements for milk.
  • Alternative meats are also available at the store… SATIN & TOFU

I will be posting recipes of the healthy foods I create.

Tuesday Tips

Be pragmatic. When setting up your language learning goals, focus on what you want to do with your target language. Language is the means of communication, and not a goal, thus instead of “Learn 20 new words related to human body and diseases” think of “Being able to talk about my health with a doctor”. Instead of “learning the past tenses” think of “being able to describe my job experience during a job interview”. Pragmatic goals not only keep you motivated, but also help to realize what else you need to learn.

For Witches who scanvenge/forage for herbs please keep in mind to take only what you need!

Make sure if you pick some fresh flowers you found that you don’t over do it and leave plenty behind for the local bee and butterfly populations! Bees are dying out and are essential for many plants to pollinate. Without bees we lose our food sources and our beautiful variety of plants!

For herbs try and grow your own or purchase from a locally owned farm to support nearby businesses.

For herbs you find growing in their natural environment, please be careful to triple check you know exactly what plant it is, and take only what you need as well. Many herbs that are considered “weeds” have flowers or parts of the plant that animals may eat or bees may need to feed on.

The only time I’d say over harvest is if it is an invasive introduced species that is damaging the local ecosystem. Even still, ecosystems adapt. We must be mindful of these things!

thegreatescapefromreality  asked:

Hey I'm a starting pathfinder dm, I was wondering if you had any tips for preparation of a session. And any other useful things you've learned since you've started that can help everything run smoothly without having to stop to look something up.

First off, kudos for stepping up and becoming a Game Master. It’s a tough and often draining job, but it’s ultimately the most rewarding. In my honest opinion, it’s one of those anyone-can-do-it-but-no-one-wants-to roles for tabletop gaming, and the people that do step up on their own volition are the ones that make these games worthwhile. Good luck!

With that, here are some tips to make running a game more effective and fun, for yourself and for your players. These were gathered from my own personal experiences running games for the past few years, so your mileage may vary.

Know the Rules

This is fairly obvious, but it needs to be emphasized. Know how the basic rules of your system work, so you aren’t looking things up for every single action your players perform, or seemingly making it up as you go along.

The players are expected to know at least how their own characters work, so therefore as a GM you need to know how these various rules interact with one one another at an even higher level. The players, if they are new, will be asking you for clarifications as well, so be sure that you know more than the average player.

At an absolute bare minimum, understand how combat and skills work. The rest are fairly simple and intuitive, and often build upon those two.

Minimize the Clutter

You could have a copy of the Core Rulebook, Ultimate Combat, Ultimate Magic, Game Master Guide, NPC Codex, and all other sorts of references on your side of the table, but that’s only going to take up space at best and slow your game down to a crawl at worst.

So my first bit of advice is keep only what you need in front of you. If you don’t mind the ink cost, you could always print out some simplified reference documents for you to quickly skim over during interludes. I’d recommend a simple packet of 5-8 pages. At minimum, you need a basic plan for what this session will cover; have an idea for what will happen, why it happens, who is involved, and where and when it takes place.

The rest of these papers include, but are not limited to: maps of relevant areas; enemy, hazard, and NPC references for general encounters; and tables with pre-written character, place, and object names for when you need to stall, improvise, or embellish. If you are inexperienced with improvisation, some pre-generated flavor text and dialogue could be useful as well. And lastly, have some scratch paper to take notes, in order to track things like the passage of time, and other noteworthy events and information. If you are playing a heavily tactical game, it also helps to have graph paper on-hand.

Tools of the Trade

If I had to run a game with the fewest items possible, I would be able to “reduce” it to this set.

I go more in-depth with my extensive GM equipment in this post.

Alternatively, you could take the game online and get an account on Roll20, which has a digital version of everything I just mentioned and much, much more. It’s free for a simple subscription, but to unlock its true potential you could also pay a reasonable monthly/yearly fee.

Allow Yourself to Fail

Not every decision has to be perfect. No one is expecting you to have an eidetic memory and be able to recite a specific rule from literally hundreds of thousands of lines of text.

Sometimes, you need to make a decision quickly, even if it’s not strictly by the book. As long as it makes sense and it is fair, it’s better off just to wing it and move on. If later on, you realize that it was a terrible decision, make it clear to your players and either ret-con or reestablish the proper ruling from henceforth. And if you make mistakes, it’s not the end of the world. As long as you learn from them, and improve your craft, you’ll eventually get the hang of it. And in time, you will develop your own style that will surely enrapture the players at your table.

I hope that your first couple of games are a blast! ;) And if you found this helpful, and would like to know more, let me know! GAME ON!

It’s so sad that parts of the fandom of Loki can’t take him for what he is. A trickster who’ll do anything if it plays into his plans. He is no innocent guy who gets controlled by others. Even if others use him he still thinks he’s the one who pulls the strings. Don’t insult him by making him a helpless victim.

Maid To Serve

TITLE: Maid to Serve

CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: Chapter Sixteen

AUTHOR: wolfpawn

ORIGINAL IMAGINE: Imagine that you have been sold to a slave trader to pay a debt. One day you are bought and given to Loki as a gift. He ignores you at first, but he slowly begins to notice your attention to small details in your daily tasks and your funny little quirks. He tries everything he can to seduce you, and the more you resist the more intrigued he is.

RATING: Teen and Up

NOTES: Sorry for the delay everyone, real life is not always easy.

You felt as tired when you woke as you did when you had gone to sleep. Relief filled you as you realised you were still safe, listening closely to the voices on the other side of the door.

“And what of their numbers?” You knew Loki’s voice as soon as he spoke.

“That is the issue here,” was the response. It took you a moment to remember it was King Njall. “They are not many, a few slave traders, and their paid followers, but the issue is, some of them are some of the best trained in my armies.

The Rumblr’s in-house astrologer, Madame Clairevoyant, presents her latest dispatch from the stars:

Aries: There are feelings that live in your stomach and there are feelings that live in your skin, but this week is about the ones you just hold in your hands, the ones you keep in your pockets. Some things will always be part of you, but others you get to choose, and this week is for being careful with the choices you make. You can let go of the things you don’t want. Empty your pockets, and keep only what you need, only what you want, only what’s good for you.

Taurus: This is a week for being stubborn, a week for being strong, a week for not backing down. This is what you’re good at, it’s what your wild heart beats for, but it’s been hard lately, maybe, like the light’s been too weak, like your balance has been off, like your voice has been hoarse and soft. This week, feel your full strength flowing back into your. Feel the courage in your blood. Feel the way you could be ready for anything, ready to stand up, ready to resist, ready to move and sing.

Gemini: You might feel unsettled or you might feel scattered this week; you might feel dissatisfied, in a vague and aching way. When you feel most moody, when you feel most sensitive, pay attention. Your body has things to tell you and questions to ask you and places it wants you to look. Let your feelings of anger show you what you really want. Let your feelings of longing show you what you really love. Let your weird moods guide your attention. Let them guide you to the things you need to see.

Cancer: It might feel tempting to stay inside all day, to stay in bed, to stay in the quietest places you can. It might feel simple to stick to the places that belong only to you, but try not to spend this whole week inside your own self. There are so few surprises to be found inside your own head. There are so few ways to become larger on your own. There are things to be learned in the world this week, there are things to be seen. Spend your days outside.

Leo: It’s not quite that you’ve lost something, and not quite that you’ve been far away from home, but something that’s been wrong can be fixed. It can feel like a return, like your vision’s coming back into focus, like all the confidence and balance you’ve ever had are finding their way back to you. This is the feeling of being in motion again. This is the feeling of coming back to yourself. This is the feeling of your own wildest magic. Remember how good this can be.

Virgo: There are different ways to be patient; there are different ways to wait for what you want. There is patience that’s peaceful and patience full of noise and fire. There is patience that’s about stillness, and patience that’s about motion. It can be hard to want so much, and it can be hard to want so deeply, and it can be hard to even keep living, when the world demands so much patience from you. Just keep your eyes open. There is a future full of brightness, if you’re willing to wait for it however you can.

Libra: You’re going to have access to some kind of strength this week, access to powers that live deep inside you, powers that live deep in the center of the earth. This is a week for seeking out magic. This is a week for making good things happen. This is a week for imagining the life you want into being, a week for shaping your own world. It’s so easy to underestimate your own will and your own courage, but try to be brave enough to believe in it.

Scorpio: This week is for working on your big projects, the ones that make your heart feel big, the ones so bright and wild that they’re hard to even talk about, hard to even look at. You can make so much progress this week. You can make so many changes. There’s an energy in you this week, and it can flow through your veins, it can light your eyes up. Don’t let this light go to waste. You can’t save it for later, you can’t store it for leaner months. Just use this time. Just use these gifts.

Sagittarius: This is a week for putting down roots, this is a week for feeling your feet on the ground, it’s a week for feeling solid and real. It’s easy to float, it’s easy to drift, it’s easy to keep yourself all strange and free. It’s easier, sometimes, to take the quick bright risks than to do the real work, but you don’t have to be afraid. This is a week to remember what it feels like to try very hard. This is a week to let yourself be known. It’s a week to let yourself be seen.

Capricorn: This week, as the days get warmer and the world gets greener, try not to make things so hard for yourself. It’s a good thing to live the way you do, and it’s a good thing to expect so much of yourself, but sometimes it’s okay to do the things that are simple. Sometimes it’s okay to believe what you know in your bones to be true. Sometimes it’s okay to go outside and watch the sky. There are things that are complicated, and there are things that are solid and true.

Aquarius: Sometimes it’s hard to see how one moment leads to the next, and sometimes it’s hard to see the road that leads all the way into the future, and sometimes it’s hard to trust that you’re doing the right things, even when you are. Don’t let it drive you crazy, not knowing what comes next. You have strange bright eyes and a strange good heart and they’ll keep carrying you forward. You have enough magic inside you to last a whole lifetime, more than you could ever even know.

Pisces: This week is for remembering who you are; this week is for coming home to yourself. You know all the things that you know, and you’ve seen all the things that you’ve seen, and you have a body and a self that belong to nobody else. Watch your own face in the mirror. Feel your own muscles and your own bones. Listen to the sound of your own voice, until it sounds like a song, until it sounds like yourself. Nobody else can tell you who you are.
