While out at Neons recently, we met a fellow Cincinnati fashionista named Kelsey who is a Fashion Illustration student at UC’s DAPP (we made the approach to compliment her on her killer platforms, and somehow it ended up with us talking about F&F).  After several failed attempts at coffee dates, Kelsey invited us to the launch party at Mainstay’s Betty Bar for her sister’s fashion line, KaVatee.  For the event we both decided to keep our looks low-key–Becki in a simple black shift dress, while Betsy chose a patterned strapless dress, each with minimal accessories.

Kavatee’s signature piece is the “Neckalina,” a clever cross between a bold necklace and silky-soft pashmina scarf.  The result is something that’s easily integrated into any wardrobe–not to mention highly innovative.  Katie and Valerie, the owners of KaVatee, are from Cincinnati and both went to fashion design school in NYC at the prestigious Parsons The New School For Design.  It’s incredibly exciting to see women just a few years older than ourselves combining their talents and truly pursuing their passions.  We have only just started following KaVatee, but we’re excited for their success and anticipate an incredible future for these lovely ladies!

After having some cake and snapping a few pics in the Framester photobooth (see above), we headed to Fountain Square for Midpoint Music Festival–a summer-long music extravaganza that brings amazing acts to the square while also providing FREE admission.  This week it was Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s, who just happen to be a favorite of Becki’s.  A night chock-full of fashion and music?  We’re not mad about it.
